Roscoe Arbuckle: The Mentor to Chaplin and Keaton.
Mostly known for the scandal that ruined his career in 1921, Roscoe Arbuckle was a highly influential film comedian. Beginning at the "Mack Sennett Studios," Arbuckle soon developed his own style and on-screen comic persona. He deserves greater recognition.

- DirectorLaurent PreyaleStarsRoscoe 'Fatty' ArbuckleBuster KeatonA rising star who rose from bit player to writer, director, and star of comedies for Mack Sennett's Keystone Film Company, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle recruited up-and-coming vaudeville comic Buster Keaton for a series of films from 1917 through 1919. Presented chronologically, these shorts demonstrate Keaton's evolution from bit player to full partner as both men honed their comedic skills. Following the 1921 scandal that was inflamed by a publicity-seeking prosecutor and the tabloid press, Arbuckle's films were withdrawn from circulation in America. The films in this collection were gathered from international archives and private collections, with new English intertitles and digitally mastered from 35mm, some directly from the nitrate originals.
- DirectorPaul E. GieruckiStarsRoscoe 'Fatty' ArbuckleJohnny ArthurMonty BanksPopular rival of friend Charlie Chaplin, mentor of sidekick Buster Keaton, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle (1887-1933) dominated silent film comedy from the days of Keystone until tragic events in 1921 shattered his career, throwing his film triumphs into obscurity. But this was not the end. Blacklisted by Hollywood, Roscoe Arbuckle continued directing dozens of film comedies under the pseudonym "William Goodrich" for almost another decade. Arbuckle was involved in making some 200 films in all. Sadly, the work of the True Fourth Genius of silent comedy remains neglected. That is, until now...
