- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, Montenegro.Craig's first outing as Bond instantly modernizes Bond for the 21st century. Fleming's first novel and his voice is all over this. Eva Green is ravishing and the epitome of the Bond girl trope at its finest. Her chemistry with Craig is electric. The cool factor with this film is off the charts great.
- DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom.Tracy is the most endearing of bond girls and the only one to become his wife. This is her story as much as his. Lazenby brings a physicality to his debut outing and does a serviceable performance. Diana Rigg is phenomenal as Tracy and Telly Savalas is simply the best Blofeld ever. Peter Hunt's direction took the franchise to new heights and the scenic alps mountains look breathtaking. This is the most emotionally impactful Bond outing ever.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreBarbara BachCurd JürgensJames Bond investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads, with the help of a K.G.B. agent whose lover he killed.Perhaps the most quintessential Bond film as far as covering all the bases. Great action and an engaging adventure. Moore seems to have perfected his version of Bond here. Barbara Bach is wonderful as Anya. Caroline Munro ass Naomi is also memorable. Jaws may be the greatest henchman of the series. The music is on point.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonMaryam d'AboJeroen KrabbéJames Bond is sent to investigate a KGB policy to kill all enemy spies, and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications.Dalton brings to the screen the closest rendition to the Bond of Fleming's novels and it is a great new chapter veering away from the camp of Moore's films. It serves as a true spy story that the series hasn't seen since From Russia With Love. Maryam D'abo is excellent as Kara Milovy who is in the pantheon of Bond girls.
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsPierce BrosnanSean BeanIzabella ScorupcoYears after a friend and fellow 00 agent is killed on a joint mission, a secret space based weapons program known as "GoldenEye" is stolen. James Bond is assigned to stop a Russian crime syndicate from using the weapon.Pierce Brosnan encapsulates all the various elements that make up Bond maybe better than any other actor. Sean Bean is one of the great bond villains. Famke Janssen is also a memorable bond girl villain and is having so much fun in the role. Natalya also leaves her mark as a top tier bond girl as well.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryClaudine AugerAdolfo CeliJames Bond heads to the Bahamas to recover two nuclear warheads stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Agent Emilio Largo in an international extortion scheme. Now this is a Bond movie. Connery perfects the formula in this 4th installment. Claudia Auger is a hall of fame Bond girl as Domino. The climax feels rushed and parts of the underwater battle leave more to be desired, but an otherwise great adventure. Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona also steals all of her scenes.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryRobert ShawLotte LenyaJames Bond willingly falls into an assassination plot involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E.Connery's cool performance supported by a classic cast of characters and an exotic backdrop in Istanbul. Daniela Bianchi is terrific as Tatiana. Great groundwork on the mystery that is Spectre. The train fight between Bond and Grant is surprisingly tense and full of great action. Bond's quick thinking in the climax is logical and satisfying. This more than Dr. No serves as the blueprint model for bond films moving forward.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonRobert DaviCarey LowellA vengeful James Bond goes rogue to infiltrate and take down the organization of a drug lord who has murdered his friend's new wife and left him near death.Dalton's second outing as a more serious hard-boiled Bond cements his impact on the franchise as the most Fleming Bond. A straight-forward revenge story and the first R rated turn of the series. Robert Davi is a top-tier villain as Sanchez and Desmond Llewelyn seems to be having the most fun he has ever had in the field as Bond's sidekick. Even Benecio Del Toro makes the most of his role as a henchman. The film has two great bond girls in the characters of Pam Bouvier and Lupe Lamora but can't seem to decide how to split the screen time between them. All in all a fun and engaging ride and the most unique entry in the franchise.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.Beautifully shot film. Great villain in Silva. Good character driven chapter. A technically beautiful picture. The film is just missing a strong Bond girl and the attempt at giving Bond a back story with his parents is a little too much like Bruce Wayne and falls flat
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve.Fun Bond outing. Certainly has camp elements but fast paced and with a memorable supporting cast. Prime example of what Bond is known for in pop culture.
- DirectorLee TamahoriStarsPierce BrosnanHalle BerryRosamund PikeJames Bond is sent to investigate the connection between a North Korean terrorist and a diamond mogul, who is funding the development of an international space weapon. An admitted guilty pleasure in the franchise. Brosnan is great but the film is like high quality cheese. Too much ridiculous tech in the second half. Doesn't know if it wants to be serious or cheeky, similar to "The World is not Enough". Halle Berry is great and has fun with her role. Rosamund pike is one of my favorite bond girls. Fun light film with a better first half than second. Michael Madsen is criminally underused.
- DirectorMichael AptedStarsPierce BrosnanSophie MarceauRobert CarlyleJames Bond uncovers a nuclear plot while protecting an oil heiress from her former kidnapper, an international terrorist who can't feel pain.Brosnan is a terrific bond. It's a shame the films don't live up to his range for the character. This film has elements of greatness and elements of camp as if it is 2 different films at once. Electra is a fantastic bond girl with a twist. Denise Richards has great chemistry with Brosnan, but her character is absurd although not boring. Robert Carlysle is also great with little to work with. The camp elements keep it from being a great Bond film and instead it becomes a guilty pleasure with great elements. The theme song by Garbage is one of the best in the series.
- DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsPierce BrosnanJonathan PryceMichelle YeohJames Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce war between China and the UK in order to obtain exclusive global media coverage.Surprisingly fun indictment of mass media that is still relevant today. Brosnan continues to make the role look effortless. Jonathan Pryce is cartoonishly over the top but in an entertaining way. Teri Hatcher is great as a bond girl to the point that one wishes she had more screen time. Michelle Yeoh stands out in her scenes as well
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreMaud AdamsLouis JourdanA fake Fabergé egg recovered from the body of a fellow agent leads James Bond to uncover a jewel smuggling operation led by the mysterious Octopussy, and a plot to blow up a NATO air base.A fun and very scenic Bond outing with Bond in India. Moore is having fun with the role now and while there are elements that are cheeky and campy it does not take away from an engaging and never boring ride.
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreYaphet KottoJane SeymourJames Bond is sent to stop a diabolically brilliant heroin magnate armed with a complex organisation and a reliable psychic tarot card reader.Starts strong with a smooth Roger Moore debut bringing the Bond vibe Connery and Fleming created while making it his own. Jane Seymour is alluring in her film debut as Solitaire. Solid first hour that cools in the second half with an uninspired finish. The title song by McCartney is legendary.
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond descends into mystery as he tries to stop a mysterious organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource.Enjoyable film light on story. Great action scenes. Villains and Bond girl are forgettable. Craig carries the film. Works best watching it directly after Casino Royale as the call backs to Vesper are at the heart of what drives Bond.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreCarole BouquetTopolSecret service agent James Bond is assigned to find a missing British vessel equipped with a weapons encryption device and prevent it from falling into enemy hands.Serviceable Bond entry. Not bad but not great. Touching opening scene is immediately followed by ridiculous Blofeld interaction. The film does everything at a satisfactory level but doesn't excel in any particular area. Carole Bouquet is memorable as Melina despite the character being very bland.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryUrsula AndressBernard LeeA resourceful British government agent seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American space program.Connery's cool carries this 1st entry into Bond. Ursula Andress sets a high mark for Bond girls. Dr. No is an interesting villain and he and Bond share a surprisingly philosophical conversation. The film however looks very dated and the ending climax is poorly executed.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreChristopher WalkenTanya RobertsThe recovery of a microchip from the body of a fellow British secret agent leads James Bond to a mad industrialist scheming to cause massive destruction.Peek 80's camp but in a fun way for the most part. Fantastic Duran Duran song used heavily in the score in a great way.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsSean ConneryAkiko WakabayashiMie HamaJames Bond and the Japanese Secret Service must find and stop the true culprit of a series of space hijackings, before war is provoked between Russia and the United States.Mundane outing for Bond despite the exotic locale. Connery appears to just be going through the motions with no strong supporting characters to challenge his screen presence. Not terrible but not great. The formula is there but not much more.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreLois ChilesMichael LonsdaleJames Bond investigates the mid-air theft of a space shuttle, and discovers a plot to commit global genocide.A convoluted story that bizarrely builds to a laser fight in space. The attempts at humor fall flat. Moore has little to work with but makes the most of it and Dr. Goodnight adds to the list of memorable Bond girls albeit a bland one. All that being said the film does not feel as dated as some other entries and the cheesy bits aren't boring at least.
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreChristopher LeeBritt EklandJames Bond is targeted by the world's most expensive assassin, while he attempts to recover sensitive solar cell technology that is being sold to the highest bidder.Mildy entertaining. Moore begins to come into his own as Bond despite a lackluster script. Sheriff Pepper is just an awful character and the slide whistle ruins an otherwise great stunt. Britt Ekland has a great presence as Goodnight in her scenes. Christopher Lee brings some charm to Scaramanga but the character is too bland.
- DirectorCary Joji FukunagaStarsDaniel CraigAna de ArmasRami MalekJames Bond has left active service. His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.Bond and Madeleine get a second film to develop chemistry and still can't find it. Nice looking film with great locales and action scenes but never reaches the emotional depths it is looking to achieve because all character actions just feel like plot devices. Ana de Armas is excellent in a small role that feels as if it is from another movie. She probably would have made a better love interest than Madeleine. The Blofeld arc over 2 films is also poorly done and Safin just seems like a Blofeld replacement.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigChristoph WaltzLéa SeydouxA cryptic message from James Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover the existence of a sinister organisation named SPECTRE. With a new threat dawning, Bond learns the terrible truth about the author of all his pain in his most recent missions. The film starts strong and then falls flat in the end trying to tie everything in a nice neat bow. The filmmakers clearly thought this would be Craig's last outing. The chemistry between Bond and Madeleine Swann is almost non-existent and simply serves to move the plot along. Monica Belluci shines in her scenes and could have added so much more here.
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryJill St. JohnCharles GrayA diamond smuggling investigation leads James Bond to Las Vegas where he uncovers an evil plot involving a rich business tycoon.Bad editing. Bad dialogue. Connery phoning it in at this point. Terrible villains. The theme song is top tier. Jill St. John is beautiful and charming and steals all her scenes.
