Jeff Daniels is no stranger to commanding the screen, but he’s taking things up another notch in Netflix‘s new David E. Kelley series A Man in Full. Stepping into the shoes of Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker, Daniels puts on a larger-than-life accent and steals the spotlight as the businessman is faced with sudden bankruptcy. As political and business interests collide, Charlie tries to maintain control of his real estate empire without falling from grace. Mark Hill/Netflix It’s a tightrope act, but one that the performer was more than happy to take on. “He is the star of his own show,” Daniels tells TV Insider of Charlie. “And he’s not just a guy walking through life. He is a guy who wants everyone to notice when he comes in the room. And that’s very starlike. That’s fun. That’s larger than life.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already May 2024, especially on the TV front. We have standing weekly appointments with “The Sympathizer” and “Under the Bridge,” are still reeling from “Baby Reindeer,” and still can’t get enough of Kristen Wiig in “Palm Royale” — but there’s a whole new crop of May shows about to debut that deserve the audience’s dutiful attention.
May brings some big names back to TV, including Sean Bean with Hulu’s “Shardlake,” Jeff Daniels with Netflix’s “Man in Full,” and Benedict Cumberbatch with “Eric.” Joel Edgerton headlines Apple’s twisted thriller about a man unmoored from reality in “Dark Matter,” while André Holland plays Black Panther party founder Huey P. Newton in “The Big Cigar.” Many new shows are based on novels or articles, and on the reality front there’s “Love Undercover” — about soccer stars searching for romance; on the documentary side “Pillowcase Murders,...

Apple TV+ has revealed the first teaser-trailer for “Presumed Innocent” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, from Emmy-winning creator David E. Kelley.
Gyllenhaal narrates the trailer as Rusty Sabich, a man seemingly consumed by his love for a woman named Carolyn (Renate Reinsve). “She woke something up inside me,” he says as the footage cuts between his time with her and images of cars and courtrooms and arguments — clearly invoking a darker twist in this alleged romance. Carolyn, it turns out, has been murdered and, given their history, Rusty is the prime suspect.
What the trailer leaves out is extra juicy: Rusty and Carolyn were coworkers and prosecutors, and the suspected crime sends waves through the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office as they mourn a colleague, reel from an affair, and pursue a murder investigation — to say nothing of how it affects Rusty’s marriage and home life.
The rest of the cast includes Ruth Negga,...

Succession may have ended its television run last year, but its legacy keeps living on. The show that captured the attention of millions of people across the world and brought the crew a collection of prestigious awards proved that relentless big business-related dramas are what the viewers still get interested in.
Now that the Succession’s story is definitely over, Netflix's upcoming show is supposedly taking its place.
Based on Tom Wolfe’s novel of the same name, A Man in Full follows real estate tycoon Charlie Croker whose immense Atlanta-based conglomerate is risking to be drowned in debts after Croker’s numerous rivals decide to take drastic measures.
Just like Succession’s Logan Roy, Charlie is an impudent and rude boss who won’t stop before any obstacle in an attempt to save his collapsing empire.

As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

Arachnophobia has been labeled a 90s classic in the eyes of horror fans. Not only does it have a perfect execution of spine-chilling horror, but it also manages to balance it with excellent comedy. Considering just how iconic the film was, many were concerned when it was announced that the film would be getting a remake.
A stil from Arachnophobia
However, since James Wan will be heading the project, their worries have been put at ease. The director has an impressive track record with horror, having been behind projects like The Conjuring series, The Nun films, Annabelle, and Saw.
Reminiscing back to the original movie, Jeff Daniels, who played the role of Dr. Ross Jennings, talked about his experience working on the original film.

HBO’s Succession became the network’s new Game of Thrones: the same political schemes and backstabbing of the people rich and powerful beyond others’ imagination, but set in modern-day New York instead of medieval Westeros.
But everyone wants a piece of that high-stakes big-money success, so Netflix has been working hard to create its own Succession. From what we see, they’ve succeeded!
A Man in Full Breaks the Wheel
Most TV shows about the rich and powerful in the United States are set in New York; it’s something of a law at this point. But Netflix breaks the everlasting cycle of aerial Manhattan shots in its upcoming limited series A Man in Full: unlike Succession and other like-minded shows, it will take us to Atlanta, Georgia. Surprising, isn’t it?

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Returning for its 15th annual edition this weekend, the TCM Classic Film Festival will turn Hollywood Blvd. into the center of the movie universe again for four days, for that very obsessive and loving subset of film fans that has the network’s vintage fare as part of their weekly and daily lives. And just what time span “classics” falls into is exemplified by the big opening and closing night films.
The gala opening night picture is 1994’s “Pulp Fiction,” which festival director Genevieve McGillicuddy says “is one of the most contemporary films that we are showing this year, along with ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ and ‘Little Women,’ the 1994 version. ‘Seven,’ I think, is the most recent film we’re screening; that’s 1995. Just like with the network, we don’t have any official cutoff in terms of the years of films that we’re showing. But, interestingly — it’s the opposite of a cutoff,...

"I don't just want to take down your ex-husband, I want to devour him." Oh damn! It seems the battle has begun. It's adapted from the novel "A Man in Full" written by the late Tom Wolfe, a book many are familiar with already. When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace. What happens when a powerful man faces the prospect of losing his power? A total shitshow.
In Netflix’s “A Man in Full,” Jeff Daniels plays real estate tycoon Charlie Croker, whose power is threatened by a sudden bankruptcy, conflicts of interest, and people relishing his fall from every corner. For a man who had it all, things are about to get significantly more treacherous. The trailer evokes the petty politics and animosity of HBO’s “Succession,” which has been away for almost a year and whose fans will surely be seeking this exact strain of comfort (“We got off your medical records. Turns out you’re a pussy”).
The six-episode limited series comes from writer, executive producer, and showrunner David E. Kelley and is based on the bestselling novel by Tom Wolfe. Regina King, Matthew Tinker, Thomas C Wolfe, Alexandra Wolfe, and Tommy Schlamme also executive produce, with King...

Facing relentless foes and sudden bankruptcy, an Atlanta real estate tycoon must claw his way back to the top when his empire begins to crumble. That’s the premise of the new Netflix series, “A Man In Full,” starring Jeff Daniels. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by the late author Tom Wolfe, the series comes from David E. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for American Rust: Broken Justice.] American Rust has returned for Season 2 on Prime Video under the new title American Rust: Broken Justice, and with it comes a big question: Is this season based on a book? American Rust‘s first season, which originally aired on Showtime and is now streaming on Prime Video, was inspired by Philipp Meyer’s 2009 novel of the same name. But Broken Justice deviates from the source material, instead building upon the story that unfolded in Season 1. (Credit: Dennis Mong / ©Showtime / Courtesy Everett Collection) Season 1 also swayed from its source material, taking the basic structure and plot and repurposing it for television. Now, in Season 2, Del Harris (Jeff Daniels) is moving beyond his former role as Buell’s police chief to take on a gig at the Pittsburgh Pd in an effort to infiltrate a circle of dirty cops. Everything that takes place this time around is made up entirely ...

It’s been nearly three full years since American Rust last graced screens, but as the latest season titled American Rust: Broken Justice heads to Prime Video, the story is picking up only four months after the events of Season 1. After spending most of Season 1 fighting for her boy’s innocence and trying to free him from prison, her goals are shifting a bit this time around. “It’s a very different journey because the two men in her life have sort of… I don’t want to say abandoned her, but I think that’s how the character feels,” Tierney tells TV Insider of Grace...

Ron Nyswaner will soon be traveling to New York to reunite with his Writers Guild of America East fellows for a grand occasion. The Oscar-nominated screenwriter, producer and showrunner has been selected to receive the Walter Bernstein Award at the 76th Writers Guild Awards at New York’s Edison Ballroom on April 14.
The honor — named after the late screenwriter who was blacklisted for his political views only to persevere and get his career back on track with such credits as Fail-Safe, Semi-Tough and Yanks — is presented to writers “who have demonstrated with creativity, grace and bravery a willingness to confront social injustice in the face of adversity,” per the organization.
Nyswaner has been doing that for pretty much his entire career. A prime example is Jonathan Demme’s 1993 film Philadelphia. Penned by Nyswaner, the Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington-starrer was the first major Hollywood film to dramatize the real-world...

This year’s Oscars were as much a celebration of books as they were cinema. Five of the 10 best picture nominees were based on books, and three of those – “Oppenheimer,” “Poor Things” and “The Zone of Interest” – took home the most statues overall. Even the winner for best animated picture, Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron,” was loosely inspired by a 1937 novel Miyazaki had read as a child.

Jeff Daniels as eternally glum police chief Del Harris returns for a widening murder conspiracy in the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice, which dropped Monday.
After the sudden, mysterious death of a former police officer in Pennsylvania’s rust belt in the rookie season is not quite solved by Harris, to say the least, the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice returns to the fictional town of Buell, where a compromised Del and Grace Poe (Maura Tierney) try to rebuild their lives.
That’s until the trailer reveals a series of unrelated murders that may add up to a much larger conspiracy closing in on a tight-knit town. “We never really do move on, do we?” Del questions at one point.
The fateful wrench from the first-season finale cover-up surfaces, as does Del fretting over how to protect the murder suspect and son of his sometimes girlfriend Grace.
