- Wrote his first feature, In Memory of My Father (2005), in five days and shot it in five days. He then spent two years befriending Scottish band, Belle & Sebastian to acquire their music. The film has gone on to receive extensive critical acclaim, won more than ten festival awards and Stuart Murdoch (singer of B&S) has become one of Chris' closest friends.
- While growing up, he was an avid scuba diver. He worked in a dive shop as a rescue diver, and sometimes as a volunteer diver at the Long Beach Aquarium.
- He was in Thailand during the tsunami and wrote a book entitled Boxing Day about his experiences.
- Singer Lance Bass let Chris live in his guest house while writing and developing the script, Self Help. He stayed for six months.
- Lived in a downtown loft with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots and actor Jason Lee. Chris used to be a sponsored competitive skateboarder.
- He is an only child. His younger, best friend later married his mother.
- After a year and a half studying piano at Berklee College of Music in Boston, he was briefly hospitalized and returned to acting in Los Angeles. He also toured with Wanda Jackson (the female Elvis of her day) and recorded with many artists.
