Jennifer Lopez Talks ‘The Mother’ Sequels and Stunt Work, Jokes About Auditioning to Play James Bond
Jennifer Lopez and the team behind “The Mother” are already thinking about a sequel.
“I think it would be ‘The Daughter,’” Lopez told me Wednesday night at the premiere of the new Netflix action thriller.
In the film, Lopez plays a former assassin who is pulled back into her deadly work when her 12-year-old daughter’s (Lucy Paez) life is put in danger.
Paez agreed. “The sequel will definitely be ‘The Daughter,’” the young actor said.
Not only does Lopez’s character kill at least a couple dozen men in the movie, but the actor’s impressive stunt work also includes motorcycle chases and gunfights while riding a snowmobile. “I was achy, but not hurt,” Lopez said. “I don’t think I’ve ever done an action movie like this. I do a lot of my own stunts because I’m athletic. But I have kids so I’m not going to risk anything.

Mother’s Day is on the horizon, and it’s natural to celebrate those who give their all to their families. Mothers like Sarah Connor, Ripley, and Charlie Baltimore carry on the tradition of action heroines that are lionesses protecting their cubs from the threats of predators. Jennifer Lopez seeks to join the badass mothers with her new action thriller, The Mother. Netflix has just dropped the trailer showcasing Lopez’s new physical prowess to take down all comers threatening to hurt her daughter to get to her.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads,
A deadly female assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men.
The cast includes Lopez as the titular Mother. Lucy Paez, from films Silencio andThe Exorcism of Carmen Farias, plays Zoe, the Mother’s 12-year-old daughter. Omari Hardwick, known for Kick-Ass,...

Jennifer Lopez is a killer and a mother in Netflix’s upcoming action movie, titled “The Mother,” coming to the streamer on (when else?) this Mother’s Day weekend.
In the newly released trailer, the international singer, dancer and actor stars as a former killer who left her old life and family behind to protect her now 12-year-old daughter. The trailer reveals that the FBI cut a deal with Lopez after several agents were killed and two dangerous men were still on the loose. After her daughter is kidnapped many years later, Lopez’s character must come out of hiding and re-enter her life to save her. Along the way, she tortures, shoots, stabs and headbutts the kidnappers’ men, and she teaches her daughter how to survive in the face of danger.
“I’m a killer, but I’m also a mother,” Lopez says in the trailer, perfectly encapsulating the film in one line.

Jennifer Lopez buffs up, throws on fatigues and gets out the ammo to keep her daughter safe in the new Netflix film, “The Mother.”
“The Mother,” tells the story of a female assassin (Lopez), who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before while on the run from dangerous men.
The video above shows Lopez in a remote cabin in the woods in the dead of a snowy winter. She’s building her muscles, prepping for the fight of her life. Or to be more specific, the fight for her daughter’s life.
“She needs protection right now,” she says of her daughter. And nothing will stop this Mama Bear from doing just that. She’s got the would-be kidnappers in her gun’s crosshairs and has absolutely no problem with pulling the trigger. “If there’s trouble,” she says grimly, “come find me.

HBO is developing My Dentist’s Murder Trial, a limited series, starring and executive produced by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Pedro Pascal.
Written by Steve Conrad, who is set to direct the pilot episode, My Dentist’s Murder Trial is inspired by James Lasdun’s 2017 New Yorker article “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, false identities, and a lethal sedation.”
The true crime story chronicled in the article centers on Dr. Gilberto Nunez who in 2015 was indicted for killing his friend Thomas Kolman by getting him “to ingest a substance that caused his death.” There were also two forgery counts, including Nunez posing as a C.I.A. agent. Nunez, who had had an affair with Kolman’s wife Linda, stood trial in 2018 where he was found not guilty of murder but guilty on fraud charges, which led to a prison sentence.

Hulu released the trailer for its limited series adaptation of "Nine Perfect Strangers" on Thursday, introducing viewers to Nicole Kidman's character Masha and her trippy boutique health-and-wellness resort, a place that promises healing and transformation to nine stressed city dwellers.
Per Hulu, "Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort's director, Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine 'perfect' strangers have no idea what is about to hit them."
In the "Nine Perfect Strangesr" trailer, Masha tells her guests, "You want to get well? You want to heal? Surrender yourself to me. I'm going to fix you."
But Melissa McCarthy's character, who is among the nine guests staying at the retreat looking for a better life, wonders if Masha is "bats--- or the real deal." It looks like she's leaning more toward "bats---," but the jury is...

In the new trailer for The Equalizer 2, Denzel Washington reprises his role as Robert McCall, but it seems as though he has settled down with his life and is happy with being a mild-mannered Lyft driver who minds his business and does his job…that is, until someone does him wrong — like in the trailer above.
As his first sequel of Washington’s career, it looks like he goes big in the frenetic and action-packed trailer. In addition to laying waste to a bunch of creeps who have done a woman wrong, he is out to avenge the death of his former colleague and friend Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo).
In the trailer, Washington did not come to play as he says in a voiceover, “I punish the guilty…if you’re lucky..they give you the opportunity to do the right thing…this ain’t one of those times.

“They killed my friend,” says Denzel Washington as the seeker of justice (or something like it) in this new trailer for Sony’s The Equalizer 2. “So I’m going to kill each and every one of them, and my only disappointment is I only get to do it once.”
In the first sequel of Washington’s career, he returns to the role of Robert McCall, described by Sony as a man who “serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed – but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?”
The upcoming film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is written by Richard Wenk, based on the old television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.
The trailer also includes a telling exchange between McCall and his old cohort played by Melissa Leo. “I thought you were retired,” he says, to which she resonds, “Oh, I am,...
