“Nasty Enough To Say Yes!”
Betty (Angel, For Your Thighs Only) is your typical innocent Catholic schoolgirl. One day after studying her bible under the supervision of Sister Rose (Lisa De Leeuw, Pink Champagne) with her party loving friend Catherine (Ginger Lynne, Lust in the Fast Lane), she doses off (religion does that to you.) and finds herself in a world filled with lust, debauchery and some very questionable individuals indeed. Her adventures begin with her watching Catherine get down and dirty with an older guy (Jamie Gillis, Corruption) who thankfully has better taste in women than he does clothes! After the free show, Catherine promises her much more and instantly delivers by sending her to a brothel ran by Madame Rose (De Leeuw again). She’s treated once again to a free show, but finds herself the subject of a bidding war between Senator Bribe (Eric Edwards, Laura’s...

“One man’s fantasy is another man’s reality!”
Finding himself with a debt that he just can’t pay off, Williams (Jamie Gillis, Dracula Sucks) is tasked by shady mafia-like Franklin (Michael Gaunt, Maraschino Cherry) with something of a retrieval mission to a mysterious warehouse containing three coloured rooms; a blue, a red and a black one, each housing a beautiful woman. Williams sends his associate Alan (George Payne, The Taming of Rebecca) to carry out the task on his behalf, but with balls of steel, Alan has taken the item for himself and has disappeared. This leads Williams to pursue him down a gaping glory… I mean rabbit hole. Frustrated and desperate, Williams visits a seedy, desolate...

Warning: There might be some words and posters that could be deemed Nsfw. I wouldn’t want anyone getting fired for such a reason.
How does one go about writing a book review? That is a question I’ve dealt with all my life. I’ve gotten a few film related books in my time, delving deep into information about specific genres of film or about a director or an actor. Those types of books you can find a beginning, middle and an end. But Robin Bougie’s fantastic new book, a sequel to the amazing first Graphic Thrills book, which delves into film posters of pornographic films from 1970 – 1985, was going to be tricky.
The reason it was going to be tricky was that it was going to be me gushing (poor choice of word?) about the amazing posters he featured, while he gave great insight into the particular films,...

On this episode of Mondo Squallido we are looking at a very historically significant and important piece of adult film – On The Prowl – the birth of the gonzo feature. Born out of boredom of the VHS filmed pornography, Jamie Gillis decided that one night, himself and Renee Morgan would spend the night prowling the San Fransisco streets to find willing men and women to take part in some on location action. The final product changed the future of adult entertainment. Is it any good though? Get off the Bang Bus and join myself, Jamie and Renee as we go On The Prowl!

“School Girls By Day… Super Ladies Of The Night”
Ah, incest! One of the ultimate taboos. The world of porn has dealt with the subject a lot and continues to do so. Will Carlos Tobalina’s 1983 attempt stand up to the likes of Kirdy Stevon’s Taboo series? Judging by my experience with the work of Tobalina up to this point, I’m just going to say no…
Danielle (Lust Weekend) stars as Jill, a young girl who has recently moved in with her aunt after securing a place in college. Without real prompt or emotion, she recounts some of the truly horrific (yet, erotic) sexual acts put upon on her by the greasy mits of her adoptive parents Christine (Rita Ricardo, Girlfriends) and her husband Sebastian (Don Fernando, Oriental Madam). “How do the flying acquaintances find fun? We’ll show you how!”
After being treated to the wonderful sights of 42nd Street, we meet Max (Jamie Gillis, Waterpower), a suave bank teller and his nubile friend Sylvie (Susan Curtis, Airplane) have a little of simulated fun, until some pesky aviation related stock footage interrupts. We find out that Max also moonlights as a taxi driver. After picking up a stewardess (Darby Lloyd Rains, The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann) and working out a sweaty form of repayment once arrived at her apartment, turns out there’s a small group of stewardesses who offer fun under the sheets (or on the couch in this case) to avoid paying for their fare (it’s a win for everyone involved if you ask me!). A few minutes in and we’re learning something already! Anyway, we meet our main characters, a group of divorced buddies who live together. We have Joe the architect, played by Herschel Savage (Jail Bait, Fleshdance), Ron the doctor, played by Jamie Gillis (Waterpower, Dracula Sucks), Jim the Lawyer, played by Jesse Adams (Mob Job, Ultraflesh) and Art the engineer, played by Michael Morrison (Purely Physical). After watching some porn, Joe tells them the story of how he came to be divorced. It’s all down to his pesky dick teasing babysitter Laurie, played by Tawny Pearl (Lusty Ladies). Sally, Lucy and Ann played by Dorothy Lemay (Taboo, Chopstix), Misty Regan (Champagne Orgy, Baby Cakes) and my favourite, Brooke West (Fantasy, The Blonde). After a hard day at school, the girls go home and ask their mum Rose, played by Kitty Shayne (Sexual Heights, Undulations) all about sex. She tells them about her experiences when she was their age. We find out her virginity was robbed by a family friend leading her to seek out compassion whenever and wherever she could. Her journey to find the Perfect orgasm comes to an end when she meets the man who would become her husband. How very aromatic indeed! Inspired by her stories, the girls...

Eric Edwards (Teenage Twins) and Alan Marlow (Rollerbabies) star as Will and Fred, two down and out guys who are just as desperate for money as they are some tail. Whilst contemplating their situation, they spot Jackie, a good looking socialite played by Darby Lloyd Rains (Naked Came the Stranger) exiting a small shop – which happens to be in the middle of nowhere. They hatch the plan to abduct her and give her such a good seeing to that she’ll be so satisfied that she won’t feel the need to call the police. A kick in the balls later, the pair take their hostage to Will’s sister’s place so they can have a little bit of fun. After searching through Jackie’s stuff, Will cooks up the plan to hold her for ransom. With all this planned out, it should be smooth sailing from here right?...

Aside from brief roles in films like “Two Days In New York” for Julie Delpy (see below) or Japanese director Junji Sakamoto in “Human Trust,” Vincent Gallo has so far largely kept his promise of focusing on ethereal self-made works—of the moment and sheltered from the “dark energies of the public.” Along with his discussed philosophy, he denied his 2010 directorial effort, “Promises Written on Water” a proper release, and so when a new, mysterious project appears on the actor’s web site, temper your expectations accordingly. In the “Acting” section of VincentGallo.com, a new film credit has been added at the top—an 88-minute film entitled “April”—with only a few sparse but intriguing details accompanying it. Alongside the predictable credits of “written, produced, and directed” by Gallo (also playing the lead, “Seth Goldstone”), there is also a co-star, James Ira Gurman. If that actor sounds unfamiliar, it...

Maybe you’ve been chomping at the bit awaiting the arrival of the latest installment of 1980x. Maybe you forgot about me.. well I didn’t forget about you dear readers. I got soooo busy reviewing goddamn movies that I forgot about what it is that I love about writing about ideas. Concepts. I forgot that analysis is anal with a few letters scrawled at the end to make it look fancy. Not that there’s anything wrong with anal… which brings us to tonight’s conversation on It Came From 1980x. Let’s talk about the psycho-sexual, munging and cunnilinguini of Brian Yuzna’s 1989 satire horror gross out, Society.

The xx broke into the indie music scene in 2009 with their mesmerizing, whispery self-titled album -- and every hipster from Brentwood to Brooklyn embraced their emotional lyrics and addictive sound.
Bandmates Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim started making music together at age 15, but they've known each other since they were 3 years old. Hailing from south London, Croft and Sim studied at the Elliott School, the same institution that claims Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet among its alumni talent.
But the xx's path wasn't fated: Croft admitted in an interview with The Huffington Post that she never had the intention of becoming a musician. She took up the drums to get out of class, she picked up a guitar after not being too great at the drums, and she started singing just so she could learn the guitar a little better. Bandmate Jamie Smith joined the group later, rounding out the trio.

I used to fantasize about going to Plato’s Retreat. The heyday of Plato’s was the late 1970s, during my time in the Navy. I still remember an article Playboy magazine ran about the first out in the open bath house/swing club for straight couples in American history. To say I was sexually frustrated during my time in service would be a major understatement, and not just from the long time spent at sea on a Navy warship, absent any female company. I had issues that had nothing to do with the Navy and which I will not go into in a movie review. Quite frankly the idea of being able to go into an open club and have sex with any woman on the premises, totally anonymous, no dating ritual, no games, sounded like pure heaven.

One of perhaps the most highly anticipated albums of the year after their universally acclaimed debut album xx reached the heady heights of platinum record sales, critical acclaim, awards nominations, awards victories and extensive adoption of the tracks in the media, way back in 2009. Standard album review protocol dictates that I begin proceedings with a bit of band history, or back story if you will, to ease you in and give you a little about where the band are coming from to set up an appropriate context for the album to be reviewed in, or just so you know who the fuck I’m talking about really.
I mention this because with this review I don’t really have to. I mean technically I still should, and I still will (a little), but you’d be hard pressed to find a more renowned two letters than The xx. Except perhaps E.T. of course.
Coming to attention, and almost immediate fruition, in 2009 with buzz inducing debut single Crystalised, soon followed by their critically acclaimed debut album xx, The xx made a fairly meteoric rise to the top of not just end...

Coexist, the sophomore album from xx, is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2012.
With the sweeping success of the band's debut effort, 2009's xx, The xx -- Romy Madley-Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie Smith -- is hoping that lightning strikes twice for the forthcoming album.

Last week, The xx debuted a more ambient track, "Swept Away," at a show in Los Angeles. The band also unveiled two other new tracks, "Sunset" and "Reunion," at the same gig.

English indie-pop act The Xx must love its native Europe or something. Pitchfork reports that the band is setting out for a whole bunch of European festival dates in anticipation of an upcoming second album. But for those in our readership who don’t live in Budapest, Hungary or Joensuu, Finland, The Xx is working in some North American stops as well, including a July 28 layover at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. The Xx’s Jamie Smith has noted that the band’s new material is influenced by club music, which is good news for all of you ...

Killer’s Kiss
Directed by Stanley Kubrick
Written by Stanley Kubrick and Howard Sackler
U.S.A, 1955
Just as last week’s column entry took a look at one of Stanley Kubrick’s earliest works, The Killing, this week yet an earlier piece of cinema from the director is explored. One year prior to making his real breakout film and equipped with what amounted to a micro-budget, Kubrick and his limited cast and crew filmed around the streets of Manhattan to tell the tale of two lovers in Killer’s Kiss. Any production values are incredibly minute (artificial sets, special lighting) when compared to the master’s later work, and even tonally the film differs very much from almost everything he did later, yet the curious may still want to discover this one.
Davey Gordon (Jamie Smith) is man whose potential never fully materialized. He is a boxer, and while...

Today guys and girls we are going for something a little sophisticated and rather different from the usual smut out there. Today we are looking at what many consider to be the greatest adult films of all time. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you 1974′s fantastic The Private Afternoons Of Pamela Mann from the legendary Henry Paris a.k.a Radley Metzger (The Cat and The Canary, The Alley Cats) starring an all star cast such as Barbara Bourbon (Mondo Weirdo, A Dirty Western) in the starring role as Pamela Mann, Eric Edwards (Laura’s Toys, Great Sexpectations), Alan Marlow (Afternoon Delights, Rollerbabies), the fantastic Jamie Gillis (New Wave Hookers, Beverly Hills Cox), Marc Stevens (Devil In Miss Jones, Deep Throat II) and Georgina Spelvin (Bad Blood, Devil In Miss Jones) to name a few.

Today on Mondo Squallido we are looking at a nasty little roughie from 1977 called Waterpower (aka Enema Bandit, The Enema Killer) directed by the fantastic Shaun Costello (Forced Entry, Dominatrix Without Mercy,Teenage Nurses). The film stars a whole list of stars but the main character is played by the amazing Jamie Gillis (Pleasure Palace, Keep On Truckin’, The Defiance Of Good… amongst many).
Jamie Gillis plays as a psychopath who after a very bizarre encounter in a brothel, discovers the joys of enemas. Basically, the film centres round Gillis “cleansing” debauched and tainted women throughout the film by administering enemas against his will, it’s more than just sexual gratification, his twisted mind thinks this is helping. Pretty much every scene involving the enema is notable with the stars on the receiving end staying in character, sometimes frighteningly well but the performance of the film goes straight to Gillis...

The xx have revealed that they hope to release their new album next summer. The group's producer Jamie Smith, aka Jamie xx, said that he wants to release their second LP ahead of their festival appearances next year and that it is inspired by "club music". Smith told The Creators Project: "The majority of stuff I'm working on now is The xx stuff. We're just about to start recording. Hopefully we'll get it done in time for most festivals next year, because that's the most fun. "I try and keep it simple, so use logic, a space echo, a bunch of pre-amps and occasionally (more)...

In 2011, we all seemingly discovered dubstep and learned how to pronounce "Bon Iver." We marveled at the success of Adele, Katy Perry and Rihanna, took the leap with Beyoncé and got royal with Jay-z and Kanye. We said hello to bright new stars like Frank Ocean and the Weeknd and watched former breakouts Florence Welch and Drake take the next steps in their careers. Oh, and pretty much all of us bought Lady Gaga's Born This Way, or at least debated its pricing schemes.
Yes, it's been a pretty eventful 12 months, and now, it's time to take a look back with my picks for the Best Albums of 2011. Rock, hip-hop, pop and electronic records — from artists big and small — that...

Westwood - The master of sensual European cinema golden years have a tint of blue. UCLA just hosted retrospective of Radley Metzger’s films. His most important films are being released on Blu-ray. He’s about to take the director’s chair as he approaches 83.
His masterwork Camille 2000 was just released Blu-ray with an extended version from Cult Epics. The 1969 update of Dumas’ The Lady of the Camellias takes place in an esoteric Italy. The restored high definition transfer gives a detailed look at that magical time. The Party Favors had a chance to chat with Radley Metzger about the release.
Trailer provided by Video Detective
Radley is a true independent filmmaker. He owns the rights to his films instead of selling them off to distributor. He’s not at the mercy of an indifferent studio executive to keep his cinematic legacy available. The first question had to be...

While hip-hop heads are eyeing the throne, more details are being revealed about Drake's highly anticipated sophomore album, Take Care. After releasing a handful of songs via his blog (including "Marvin's Room" and "Dreams Money Can Buy"), the Toronto rapper and Ymcmb representative reportedly will soon be dropping his new album's proper lead single "Headlines" and has also divulged info about a few more songs on the project.
Drake let loose an obvious clue about his official single with a tweet on July 18 that read simply, "Headlines." On Thursday, it was confirmed that there is a song called "Headlines" and it was produced by longtime Drake producers and collaborators Matthew "Boi-1da" Samuels and Noah "40" Shebib, according to HipHopDX.

Jeremy Morlock, the Army specialist made notorious in a grisly photograph showing off a dead Afghan civilian like a hunting trophy, pleaded guilty to three murders and faces up to 24 years in prison. Morlock's friends from Alaska tell Shushannah Walshe about his Army experience, his father's death-and his temper.
Spc. Jeremy Morlock looks into the camera and smiles, lifting the hair of a dead Afghan man, in a gruesome photograph. The image, along with others published this week by Der Spiegel, sparked an international outcry and triggered an apology from the U.S. Army, which called them "repugnant to us as human beings and contrary to the standards and values of the United States."

The xx's Jamie Smith has taken old poet Gil Scott-Heron's much loved 2010 record "I'm New Here" and remixed it in it's entirety. The product, "We're New Here" will be out February 22nd on Xl/Young Turks. Gil-Scott Heron hasn't had such a big impact since the revolution was not televised in the 70's -- his record, complete with a Smog cover, was a success, Kanye sampled him for his track, "Lost In The World," and now beats wiz Jamie Smith is having a go.
Fader has a fantastic profile of him here for the curious. Below is his remix/cut "I'll Take Care of U."...

Zombies check in, you don't.
New Jersey-based Graffiti Playhouse Productions is preparing to shoot the zombie movie Blood Lodge starring ex-porn star Jasmin St. Clair and The Sopranos star Vincent Pastore, who played Big Pussy on the show, and are throwing a benefit this weekend for the shoot, which starts in March in Vermont.
Considering the two odd names that topline this project, you may be wondering what is this movie about? Enter director-actor-writer-producer Kevin Orosz.
"Blood Lodge is like Zombieland meets Dazed and Confused mixed with the 1970s grindhouse movies," Orosz told ShoreNewsToday (via Avn). "A zombie attack happens in the fictional town of Ten Acres while a group of friends travel for a ski weekend. The group unites with other guests staying at the Ten Acres Lodge and tries to stay alive by fighting the zombies."

Now that the 2010 line-up for the Criterion Collection has finally been announced with last week’s December titles, we can begin speculating on what we’ll get in 2011. With over 50 spine numbers in 2010, will we see # 600 in 2011? At the rate that Criterion is churning out these discs, we have to assume so. Where will they get all of these upcoming titles from?
Well, over the past few months we’ve seen several titles from MGM’s catalog announced, and hinted at in their monthly newsletter. Most likely due to MGM’s current financial problems, it’s nice to see Criterion stepping up to rescue these films from the abyss of “out of print”. If you head over to the various forums (CriterionForum.org, Mubi, etc.) you’ll find many people speculating on the MGM titles that Criterion has acquired the rights to. While some are mostly speculation, I have had...

The xx's Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim perform March 31, 2010 at Spin headquarters in SoHo (NYC) as part of the Vans Soundcheck series So many bands are easy to pigeonhole into a specific genre or associate with a similar sounding group because they come packaged with a "been there, done that" vibe. That's not the case for the polished-yet-young-as-hell London band The xx, who have deservedly been gaining momentum since dropping their debut album last August. Consisting of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and Jamie Smith, the band - whose members have known each other practically since the womb - have been singled out by MTV, NME, and Rolling Stone as a band to keep an eye out for. With their single "Crystalised" in heavy rotation of late (on Sirius radio at least), it seems The xx are indeed...

One of the great quests in rock music has been to try to bring together traditional guitar-drum-bass rock sounds with dance music. Some of the biggest bands in the world have made the attempt (most notably U2, who boldly attempted to bridge the gap between rock and electronica with Zooropa and Pop in the 1990s), but most have failed. At the end of the day, groups with rock elements are written off as dance artists (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem) and rockers who dabble in dance are dismissed as overreaching.
Still, that doesn't stop bands from trying, and lately a handful of groups have managed to score points with bold experiments. Bloc Party manage to both rock hard and be groove-friendly, and the Big Pink are currently splitting the difference between English pub rock, shoegaze and techno. The Xx (who hail from London and went to the same school as the...

American Swing (2009) Direction: Mathew Kaufman and Jon Hart Screenplay: Keith Reamer Interviewees: Buck Henry, Annie Sprinkle, Melvin van Peebles, Ron Jeremy, Jamie Gillis, Helen Gurley Brown, and others By way of interviews, photos, and home movies, Mathew Kaufman and journalist Jon Hart’s American Swing humorously chronicles the rise and fall of all-American entrepreneur Larry Levenson, free-sex advocate and self-proclaimed "King of Swing," while painting a nostalgic — though hardly all-flattering — portrait of the heyday of Plato’s Retreat, New York City’s foremost sex club-disco of the late 1970s. Earlier in the decade, wholesale meat purveyor Larry Levenson had decided to reinvent himself as a Sexual Liberation Messiah. Even so, it’s debatable whether Levenson actually saw himself as a Man with a Mission, or whether he was just a cunning self-promoter with his eye on the cash flowing into his Upper West Side club in the basement of Manhattan’s Ansonia Hotel.
