Hollywood is mourning Suzanne Somers, star of sitcoms “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step,” who died Sunday after a long battle with breast cancer. The actor would have celebrated her 77th birthday on Monday, Oct. 16.
Somers was known for her roles as bubbly “dumb blonde” Chrissy Snow in “Three’s Company” and single mom Carol Foster Lambert in “Step by Step.” Somers left “Three’s Company” in 1980 when her request that she be paid the same as her male co-star, John Ritter, was denied. After the end of “Step by Step” in 1998, Somers transitioned to a career in health and beauty, becoming the national spokeswoman for exercise device the ThighMaster. Over time, she built a fitness empire from TV infomercials and an expansion into e-commerce. She also made an appearance in 2015 on Season 20 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Fran Drescher, Kathy Griffin and Barry Manilow are among those who have paid tribute to Somers.

Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino and more were not included in ‘In Memoriam’ segment at Oscars
Amid the happiness for favorites like Brendan Fraser and Everything Everywhere All at Once getting their big wins at last night’s Academy Awards, one of the more somber moments, as always, came during the “In Memoriam” segment. As the segment started, John Travolta would tearfully pay tribute to his Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John with Lenny Kravitz playing Calling All Angels. With every year’s telecast, audiences would often react not only to the tributes but also to the notable absences of certain figures in film.
The Hollywood Reporter has the reactions to some of the bewildering snubs in this year’s segment. Social media platforms lit up with people noticing the absence of actress Charlbi Dean of the Oscar-nominated Triangle of Sadness, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino, Leslie Jordan, and Anne Heche, despite the unfortunate details surrounding her death. Curiously, although those individuals were omitted from the television broadcast, but...

Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Paul Sorvino, Charlbi Dean and Leslie Jordan were among the names missing from the 2023 Oscars In Memoriam segment, which recognizes stars and filmmakers who died over the past year.
John Travolta choked up as he introduced the annual In Memoriam segment, which featured Lenny Kravitz performing “Calling All Angels,” with a tribute to Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John.
On Twitter and other social media platforms, viewers mentioned that the likes of Heche, who starred in such movies as Donnie Brasco, Volcano and Wag the Dog and on such TV shows as Men in Trees and Hung; South African Triangle of Sadness actress Dean; character actor Sorvino; Call Me Kat and Will & Grace actor Jordan; and Sizemore, who starred as Sgt. Henry Winkler, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael McKean and Ron Howard are among the notable figures in Hollywood remembering Cindy Williams, who died at the age of 75.
The actress, who starred in the sitcom Laverne & Shirley, died in Los Angles on Wednesday following a short illness, according to a statement from her children. “Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege,” the statement read. “She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.”
Henry Winkler, who met Williams while playing Fonzie on Happy Days – the show that kicked off Laverne & Shirley, shared in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “Cindy has been my friend and professional colleague since I met her on the set of Happy Days in 1975. Not once have I ever been in her presence when she wasn’t gracious, thoughtful and kind.

Hollywood awoke today to the sad news that Eight Is Enough star Adam Rich was gone too soon at age 54.
Mourners posted about the hairstyle that launched a thousand imitators and how he was a TV presence in their childhood. But those who knew him best also focused on his kindness and caring in his adult years, even as he struggled to overcome various issues in his life.
Particularly notable was the outpouring from fellow child stars of his vintage, who perhaps knew all too well about what massive early attention can do to the rest of your life.

Comedians and other Hollywood talent are paying tribute on social media to Gilbert Gottfried. The comedian’s family announced April 12 that he had died at age 67 following a long illness. Gottfried was known for his iconic shrill voice and beloved for his crude comedic style. His most famous screen role was voicing the parrot Iago in Disney’s “Aladdin.”
“Seinfeld” actor Jason Alexander wrote on Twitter, “Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at times when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My best wishes and sympathy to his family.”

Refresh for updates… Dean Stockwell, the Quantum Leap, Blue Velvet and Married to the Mob star who died Sunday at 85, is being remembered today, with filmmaker David Lynch honoring the actor in his usual idiosyncratic way, and lifelong friend Russ Tamblyn offering a poignant goodbye.
Stockwell’s Quantum Leap co-star, Scott Bakula, honored the actor in a statement to Deadline, writing, “I loved him dearly and was honored to know him. He made me a better human being…” Read the entire statement here.
Lynch, who directed Stockwell in the actor’s great latter-career highlight Blue Velvet in 1986, invoked his friend’s name during his daily YouTube feature David Lynch’s Weather Report.
“Here in L.A., a cloudy morning,” Lynch intones in his immediately recognizable drone. “Very still right now, 55 degrees Fahrenheit, 13 Celsius. In honor of the great Dean Stockwell, I’d like to recommend today ‘Honky Tonk, Part 1’ by Bill Doggett.

It's happened once again, as the "Greatest Event in TV History" has been unleashed. This time around, Adam Scott and friends recreated the intro to the early 1980s sitcom "Too Close for Comfort," which is what many expected after the teaser image that was released.
Before the show could get underway, they had to introduce the cast and go behind-the-scenes to show how it all was made, of course. Things started off with Jeff Probst essentially apologizing for the last two installments not truly being TV's greatest moment. Instead, he renamed the night "An Event in TV History," which definitely seems more appropriate.
Joining Scott, who played Jim J. Bullock's role in the intro, was Catherine O'Hara (Nancy Dussault), Jon Glaser (Ted Knight), Chelsea Peretti (Deborah Van Valkenburgh) and Kathryn Hahn (Lydia Cornell).
They weren't the only ones getting in on the fun though, as Jason Mantzoukas was the director,...

Too often anti-gay people are homophobic because they don't think they know anyone gay. But statistics show that, well, we're everywhere — there's at least one of us in every family. We have power within our own families and communities to inspire change, and you can see that in these sisters, mothers and aunts who have inspired their high-profile relations. We can see their change in activism, on screen and in specific subcultures that don't often have discussions on different sexualities.
This week, Jennifer Lopez told Access Hollywood that her gay aunt inspired her to create The Fosters for ABC Family, which is poised to be a pivotal show about an interracial lesbian couple who also happen to be mothers. Add Lydia Cornell to the growing list of gay marriage supporters in Hollywood. The star of 80's sitcom "Too Close For Comfort" and radio host has recently come out in support of marriage equality in a recent blog post.
As pointed out by Queerty, Cornell spoke of her lesbian sister not having a choice in her sexuality and how she's "heartsick at the bigotry" she sees in America.
She writes:
"My sister is gay, and she never made a choice, but that’s beside the point. The marriage contract is a private contract between two individuals. How does it hurt anyone to let two souls honor their monogamy by allowing them the sanctity and dignity of marriage, as other human beings have a right to? Isn’t this in the Bill of Rights?

Lydia Cornell is a radio host, but to some of us, she was Sara Rush, the bouncy blonde daughter on Too Close for Comfort in the 1980s. She makes a powerful argument in favor of marriage equality in the name of her lesbian sister, but also in the name of Jesus.
Senator Rand Paul, for all his talk of a lack of government interference in citizens lives, really hates the idea of marriage equality. Kelsey Grammer has earned tens of millions of dollars through his roles in "Cheers" and "Frasier" but it looks like he could use some financial advice.
RadarOnline reports that the 57-year-old Grammer has been sued by Lydia Cornell for allegedly roping her into a web-based Ponzi scheme.
Grammer, meanwhile, has attempted to distance himself from the venture, claiming he lost $1 million to the online ruse himself.
