Today show host Hoda Kotb is out on maternity leave, but Kathie Lee Gifford got a worthy replacement on Friday morning: Regis Philbin.
“Look who’s in for Hoda-momma,” Gifford exclaimed, adding, “I’m happy you’re back — we can have some laughs now.”
The pair, who were the faces of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1988 to 2000, put their relationship to the test. While co-hosting the fourth hour of NBC’s morning show, they faced off against a married couple in a Newlywed Game-inspired quiz dubbed “Dynamic Duo Duel.”

President-elect Donald Trump rang in the new year with a Twitter shout-out to his “many enemies” — and now on Friday he’s seemingly come face to face with one of the big ones: Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter.
Carter once infamously called Trump “a short-fingered vulgarian” in a 1988 article in Spy magazine, an insult that apparently still haunts Trump to this day.
In November 2015, Carter revealed that, for the last 25 years, Trump had been sending him pictures of his hands to prove his fingers are properly proportioned. In an editor letter titled “Steel Traps and Short Fingers,” Carter claimed that...

After more than 28 years hosting 'Live!,' and an astonishing 17,000 hours on live television, it's time for Regis Philbin to hang up his hat and leave what he calls, "The best job in TV."
But just because he's saying goodbye to 'Live!' with Kelly Ripa -- and Gelman -- doesn't mean that he's leaving the entertainment business for good. After five decades on live television, Regis Philbin doesn't know how to not be on TV.
"I'm still looking for something," Philbin tells AOL TV. "People think that he's retiring, but he's not," his wife, Joy Philbin, adds. "He's just moving on to something new."
We caught up with Philbin and his wife, Joy, before his big farewell on 'Live!,' to talk about life after live television, what's next and why reality TV isn't for Regis.

Joel McHale is on the promo path for his latest non-Soup project, Spy Kids 4, and that means a visit with Regis and cohost Mrs. Joy Philbin. (Joel was appreciative of her arms, by the way). Anyway, the appearance gave feisty Reeg—80 years young this month, folks—an opportunity to wreak his vengeance on an unsuspecting McHale for all those old-man jokes. And the spittle was flying...

HollywoodNews.com: Call it “Harry Potter and the Deathly Premiere.” Inside Avery Fisher Hall it wasn’t so easy digging up celebrities outside the cast of the final Potter episode. Whoopi Goldberg was the biggest deal, and we spotted Seth Green. Actor Noah Emmerich brought his kids. Outside on the red carpet, fotogs got shots of Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker with son James, but they must have been seated someplace very special: no one saw them in the theater. Warner Bros. took over the whole plaza in front of Lincoln Center, but there was no sign of the “Harry Potter” superstars like Maggie Smith, Ralph Fiennes, or Michael Gambon. It’s too bad they didn’t follow the format laid out for the “Lord of the Rings” series. Ah, well. I did see some of Daniel Radcliffe’s “How to Succeed” Broadway pals.

HollywoodNews.com: A lot of celebs and yours truly got a sneak peek at the eighth season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” last night and this much I can tell you: Larry David has imperiled Jewish-Arab relations, satirized the entire mosque-near-Ground Zero saga, and rehabilitates the reputation of retired Boston Red Sox player Bill Buckner. Basically, “Curb” returns on Sunday night kicking ass, with writing so sublime and over the edge that once you’ve seen it, most network comedies (with the exception of “30 Rock,” “The Office,” and “Modern Family”) just not matter.
In the audience at the Time Warner Center were not only Larry David and Jeff Garlin, but Cheryl Hines (out and about with boyfriend Robert Kennedy Jr.), director (and great comedian) David Steinberg, Susie Essman, J.B. Smoove, future guest stars Aida Turturro, Ana Gasteyer and Amy Landecker, actor Richard Kind (star of HBO’s upcoming “Luck”), Regis and Joy Philbin,...

The ladies came out last night to celebrate at the premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor at the MoMA in NYC last night. Gwyneth hit the red carpet all in black just like her mother Blythe Danner on her arm. Gwyneth looks fantastic and if she keeps aging like her mother she'll be a lucky, lucky lady. Anne Hathaway took a short break from posing after the Oscars, but she looked gorgeous last night in winter white. Claire Danes had her fiance Hugh Dancy there with her, but took a moment to pose by herself before heading in to see the documentary. The movie has limited release starting tomorrow for all the fans passionate about learning Valentino's story. The Emmys brought out some gorgeous gowns to the red carpet on Sunday, but a few stars got equally fancy for the Metropolitan Opera 125th Season Opening Night Gala in NYC last night. Helena Christensen and Christie Brinkley showed they haven't lost any of their model beauty, while Parker Posey went a little funkier with her big bow. Jenny Humphrey was being bullied at school on last night's episode of Gossip Girl, but in real life Taylor Momsen was looking very grown up and almost unrecognizable in her dramatic red ruffles. While the opera singers were the focus of the night, the ladies in the audience definitely managed to steal a little of the attention away for themselves. To see more from the red carpet including Julianna Margulies, Jane Fonda, and Martha Stewart, just read more.
