Philip H. Lathrop was born on October 22, 1912 in Merced, California, USA. He was a cinematographer and actor, known for Earthquake (1974), The Pink Panther (1963) and The Americanization of Emily (1964). He was married to Molly Lathrop and Betty Jo Lathrop. He died on April 12, 1995 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Lathrop was DP Russell Metty's camera operator on one of the most famous boom shots in the history of cinema: the spectacular opening of Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil."
