Hoo-haw, as they say… but the hot reputation of this pre-Code slice of censor bait begins and ends with its astonishing original poster. The movie itself isn’t daring in sex, smut or violence, but is instead a highly cinematic art-piece about a woman taking on the sins of men and society. Director Phil Goldstone fashions a labyrinth of flashbacks, flash-forwards and scenes set in a psychological limbo. The woman under pressure is the sensual Zita Johann; she’s falling in a fatalistic tailspin as bleak as any future loser-Noir heroine. UCLA’s 4k restoration comes from the original camera negative.

Another impressive horror restoration! Majestic Pictures pulls together a great cast, including Fay Wray and Lionel Atwill, for a smart gothic horror outing complete with squeaky bats, a flipped-out village idiot (Dwight Frye!), a crazed mad scientist (the worst kind) and a lynch mob with torches that have been hand-tinted in color. Melvyn Douglas is the debonair flatfoot assigned to solve a series of vampire killings.

Emily VanCamp is hot with baby fever.
The 26-year-old "Revenge" actress recently revealed to Canada's Fashion magazine that she has urges to become a mom.
“I have moments when I get baby fever and I think, ‘Why don’t I have a dozen of these now?’” VanCamp told Fashion of her baby dreams. “I’ve always had a maternal sense, and have dreamt about having children more than getting married and having the perfect wedding."
But, for now, her day job keeps her occupied.
"The show certainly keeps me up all night and teaches me what it feels like to have sleep deprivation," she added. "So in that sense, 'Revenge' is my baby.”
VanCamp has been dating her "Revenge" co-star Josh Bowman for over a year.

In what should come as no surprise given his rabid fan following (including several members of the DC staff), Daniel Gillies, who plays the original vampire known as Elijah, will be joining his brother Klaus in The CW's "Vampire Diaries" spin-off "The Originals."
Per TV Guide, the pilot (actually the April 25th "Tvd" episode) will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan) back to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — where he's reunited with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel's enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
Phoebe Tonkin, formerly of "The Secret Circle," who joined "Tvd" this season in the pivotal recurring role of werewolf Haley, will also star. Executive producer Julie Plec, who will write the episode, is shepherding the spin-off with Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo as executive producers.

Awesome news for "Vampire Diaries" fans -- there is going to be some very good hair featured on the upcoming backdoor spin-off pilot, "The Originals." Daniel Gillies will reprise his role as the noble Original Elijah Mikaelson in the April 25 episode of "The Vampire Diaries." If the backdoor pilot gets picked up to series, Gillies will join "The Originals" full-time as a lead.
Also on board are Joseph Morgan as Elijah's power-hungry hybrid werewolf/vampire Klaus, and Phoebe Tonkin as the troubled werewolf orphan Hayley.
Deadline reports that the two brothers and Hayley will be at the series' center, similar to how Stefan, Damon, and Elena lead "The Vampire Diaries." We're not quite sure whether Hayley and the Original brothers will be in a love triangle, but it wouldn't be the first time Elijah and Klaus have set their sights on the same woman.

Also rejoice: Julie Plec will be the executive producer of this show, which would be called The Originals, should the network pick it up from the backdoor pilot, airing April 25. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is furious when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) tries to control him by putting Matt?s (Zach Roerig) life in danger. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) coaches Jeremy as he prepares to take on Klaus? new vampires, but they find that Kol (guest star Nathaniel Buzolic) has beaten them to it. Kol makes it clear that he will stop at nothing to convince everyone to give up the search for the cure. Looking for a new ally, Rebekah (Claire Holt) reminds Stefan (Paul Wesley) that they were once close friends. When Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) and Mayor Hopkins (guest star Rick Worthy) question Shane (guest star David Alpay) about his involvement in the Founders? How long will Connor (guest star Todd Williams) last in Mystic Falls?
Connor is the latest hunter to crusade through Mystic Falls and in only one episode he’s made a major new enemy. Damon.
In Vampire Diaries Episode 4.03, “The Rager,” we’ll see more of Connor as well as the return of Rebekah. She got her neck ungracefully snapped by her brother Klaus in the Tvd Season 4 premiere. Needless to say, Rebekah will be stirring emotions at Mystic Falls High. In trying to kill Elena, she turned Elena into a vampire and nearly killed Matt. By the way, do any of these vamps look like they still belong in high school? Perhaps a time jump will be in order going into Vampire Diaries Season 5.
There was a time when I championed Matt and Rebekah as a couple, but she’s emotionally destructive. Sometimes she’s pro-Klaus, sometimes she’s anti-Klaus.

Welcome to Season 4, "Vampire Diaries" fans! This year, we're doing recaps a little differently at Zap2it, and I hope you stick with us! Now that we've all seen the Season 4 premiere, "Growing Pains," it's time to check in on our favorite characters (okay, and our least favorite characters, too). The final moments of the episode left us with a lot of questions, but luckily, executive producer Julie Plec agreed to shed a little bit of insight into what we can expect moving forward.
Elena has officially vamped out! We all wondered who Elena's first kill would be... and we're still wondering. Personally, I thought Pastor Young was going to be her first taste of human blood, but instead it was a random guard, and it was Stefan who did the (rather brutal) killing. Elena pretty much just had to reach out and slurp.

The CW's official description for "Vampire Diaries" episode 403 has just hit the 'net, so now it's time for us to dissect it like crazy, obviously. We can tell you that going into the episode, our remaining merry monsters are more united then ever (except, perhaps, for Damon, who isn't necessarily feeling the love with the ol' gang right now). That said, of course, things can't be hunky dory for long. In episode 3, titled "The Rager," the group faces a new threat that just might fracture them.
1. The new hunter in town, Connor (Todd Williams) is downright terrifying... and he's got his eye on Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to be his partner as he digs into Mystic Falls' history. With Jeremy still fragile after his sister's "death" -- and Alaric's not-in-quotation-marks-actual-death -- this could be pretty bad news.
2. New alliances form when Meredith (Torrey DeVitto), Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and Klaus (Joseph Morgan...

If there's one thing we can count on in this world, it's this: when new "Vampire Diaries" episodes hit the Zap2it mailroom, we will stop everything we're doing and watch. Priorities are important in life, okay? The CW generously hooked us up with the first two episodes of Season 4 today, titled "Growing Pains" and "Memorial" and though producers gave us very specific guidelines about what we can't reveal, we do have some things we're allowed to give away. You've been warned, though -- there are spoilers here!
First, we'll tell you about what fans of the love triangle can look forward to -- and then we'll give you six more tiny tidbits that will get you through the next nine days before the premiere.
Expect some seriously sexy Stelena stuff. Obviously, there's their usual sweet romance, and the symbolism of Stefan putting the daylight ring on Elena's finger when...
