She studied acting at the "Dramatic Arts Centre" of Rue Blanche and later at the CNSAD (The Paris Conservatoire). Her acting teachers included Jean Debucourt and Fernand Ledoux.
All her stage appearances were under the direction of her father, André Barsacq.
She won the first prize at the CNSAD (the Paris Conservatoire) ex aequo with Geneviève Casile.
She was good friends with Francine Bergé. She helped Francine winning her first stage role under the direction of Claude Régy.
Along with her brothers Jean-Louis and Alain Alexis Barsacq, she replaced her late father as the head of the Atelier theatre in Paris until her tragic death in 1974.
Her stage name, Alain, was the first name of her brother (Alain Alexis Barsacq).
