Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched “Bleep,” the sixth episode of “Queer as Folk,” now streaming on Peacock.
The first two shows that bared the name “Queer as Folk” presented a fairly narrow view of what “queer” is. While Russell T. Davies’ 1999 British original and its first American remake on Showtime were groundbreaking at the time for their depiction of LGBTQ people as the leads of their own stories, the shows overwhelmingly centered the experiences of white cisgender gay men. The newly launched Peacock reimagining of the series, which was developed by Stephen Dunn, presents a far more diverse and varied depiction of queer life, exploring characters in an interrelated group of queer friends living in New Orleans.
“What ‘Queer as Folk’ meant in 1999 and 2000, that’s actually what we’re trying to reboot,” Jaclyn Moore, who serves as co-showrunner with Dunn, tells Variety. “What is the modern version of that?...

For 37 seasons and counting, MTV’s “The Challenge” — formerly known as “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” — has been one of the most consistent reality competition shows on all of TV. It is full of complicated physical challenges, of course, but it also comes with plenty of interpersonal drama between players.
Ahead of the show’s 500th episode, Variety ranks the Top 20 seasons so far, plus looks back at the show that started it all.
Honorable Mention: Road Rules: All Stars

It's a TV event 23 years in the making. The Challenge: All Stars officially premiered on April 1 and the caliber of The Real World and Road Rules veterans the Paramount+ spinoff lured out of retirement was anything but an April Fools' Day joke. Assembled by Challenge "godfather" Mark Long, who is also competing for the $500,000 grand prize, franchise icons like Ruthie Alcaide, Syrus Yarbrough and Alton Williams are back in action for the limited series. It was basically a high school reunion but with people vastly more entertaining and engaging than the majority of your actual classmates. Of course, spots were limited, with just 22 contestants making the final cast list, meaning some...

It shows off some of the big returns, including Trishelle Cannatella, Mark Long, Katie Cooley, and Darrell Taylor.
Yes, Darrell has been a big part of the regular series's most recent seasons, but it will be nice to see him playing with the old-school players again.

The Challenge has changed a lot throughout the years.
But one former cast member is looking for MTV to throw it all the way back.
Mark Long, who has appeared in the first Road Rules, as well as some of the earlier seasons of The Challenge, wants MTV to produce a season featuring original stars.
Long won the show two times and has a lot of fans.
After seemingly exiting the franchise in 2012, he has a pitch for a special season that would film a season in the U.S. across two weeks.
Currently, seasons film across two to three months and typically take the challengers to other parts of the world, something that might be difficult for some of the veteran cast members.
With families and careers, leaving everything behind for over two months is not something that everyone can agree to.
“How bout an All Old School #2week Challenge instead?...

Tuesday night (July 13), as you're probably aware, MTV's "The Hills" wrapped up its triumphant six-season run.
