Multiple scientists and climate change advocates are calling for a boycott of The New York Times after an op-ed that they felt pushed anti-climate change agendas. The Friday column, the first written by Bret Stephens for the publication, uses the argument that data doesn’t always convey reality to make the point that climate change isn’t definite, despite evidence that supports the claim. He refers partially to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential run, chronicled in the recent book “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign.” Authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes wrote that the campaign relied too much on data,...

After a new book alleged that Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 presidential campaign was plagued by infighting, dysfunction and “a feeling of impending doom,” a former top Clinton aide took to Twitter on Wednesday night to set the record straight.
Nick Merrill, Clinton’s former campaign press secretary, shared a series of smiling photos of the 2016 Democratic nominee and her team on the campaign trail, prefacing it: “Here is the cold, hard truth. Click at your own peril.”
To cement his point, he added sarcastic captions about each of the moments, which included a grinning Clinton holding a baby (“Where did she get that baby anyway?...

“Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign,” by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, hits bookstores on Tuesday, offering an inside look at the events that resulted in Clinton losing to Donald Trump on Election Day last November. Among the revelations claimed in the book: Clinton apologized to President Obama when it became clear Trump would win. “Mr. President, I’m sorry,” Clinton told the sitting commander in chief as her unexpected election loss became reality, according to a Washington Post review of the book. “Shattered” also recounts how Obama urged Clinton to admit defeat shortly after it became clear that...

For Hillary Clinton, the harsh reality of her election-night loss to Donald Trump did not truly take hold until she received two phone calls from her former boss, then-President Barack Obama: one urging her to concede swiftly and graciously to the rival she loathed, and then, finally, one of consolation.
This is according to a new, behind-the-scenes book, Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign, by political journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes.
The book, out Tuesday, explores Clinton’s 2016 campaign and the excruciating play-by-play of her election night.

Complaints about the sound mix on Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” clearly didn’t have much influence on the members of the Cinema Audio Society, who on Tuesday made the film one of the five nominees for the best feature-film sound mix of 2014.

Nominations have been announced for the 51st annual Cinema Audio Society Awards, and as ever with this group lately, there are a few surprises. For instance, "Unbroken" made the cut despite being mostly ignored by the guilds and industry groups so far, and Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" showed up as well. The biggest jaw-dropper might just be that after months of being the poster child for sound complaints, somehow, some way, "Interstellar" ended up in the mix (no pun intended). There are always one or two that drop out, however. Last year, for example, another Marvel movie — "Iron Man 3" — was chalked up here. But it fell out in favor of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" with the Academy. I find myself wondering if "The Battle of the Five Armies" could make the cut this year as it's even more of an action/sound film than the last.

A couple of weeks ago, we were lucky enough to be invited along to Abbey Road by their speaker provider Bowers and Wilkins (B&W). We’d been fortunate enough visit what is arguably the world’s best known and most famous recording studio for a previous project with Maserati. If you missed our writeup, you can catch up here. This time, the scope was much more filmic in it’s origins as veteran Abbey Road sound technician Jonathan Allen was on hand to answer all our film related questions and even let us have a play on the mixing desk in Sound Studio 3.
Jonathan has worked as an engineer and producer at Abbey Road Studios for twenty years and has a worldwide reputation for his work recording and mixing music for films and television and a wide variety of album projects, particularly classical music. Over the last few years...

A young man comes out to less-than-accepting circumstances and is rejected by his family. We’ve heard coming out stories like this before, but they never lose their emotional impact.
Take Jonathan Allen, for example.
Allen came out to his conservative parents and was kicked out of their home but, thankfully for us, he’s since persevered with one of his natural gifts intact – his voice. Allen was a semi-finalist this past summer on NBC’s competition series America’s Got Talent where he shared his story and blew away the judges – Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel – with not only his commanding voice but also his self-effacing wit and natural charm.
As Allen now embarks on a solo singing career, TheBacklot caught up with him to talk about his journey thus far, his Los Angeles show this week and, most importantly, if he’s...

This week’s round of semi-final cuts left six acts headed to the next round and six acts going home. Did your favorite(s) get a spot in the top 12?
America’s Got Talent is turning up the heat in the competition in the first round of semi-finals. The road to the top 12 is a tough one as six acts were sent home after the Aug. 27 performances. Some of our favorites were saved by America’s vote and some made their last appearance on the Radio City Music Hall stage. The Voice winner Cassadee Pope also performed her hit single “Wasting All These Tears.”
‘America’s Got Talent’ Aug. 28 Results:
Innovative Force, one hit wonder Tone Tha Chiefrocca, and juggling extraordinaire Red Panda were the first acts to face elimination. This one was a no brainer. There was no doubt that Innovative Force wouldn’t move on. America voted right on these young ladies.

Time to find out which six acts are advancing to the "America's Got Talent" Season 8 Top 12. We have a feeling after last night's performances that it will be heavy on the vocal acts, but let's see if we're right.
The first acts brought down are Tone the Chiefrocca, Red Panda and Innovative Force. The act that advances is Innovative Force, which is the correct choice out of those three acts, but we're surprised they advanced. Last night was good, but not as sharp as their previous performance.
The second group of acts is between Duo Resonance, Jonathan Allen and Forte. If there's only one act, we predict Forte. If there's two advancing, it'll be Jonathan and Forte. Forte gets through and then that's it. Not a huge surprise, Jonathan Allen on "Bring Him Home" last night was not his best performance.
The third spot is between Collins Key, Taylor Williamson and Angela Hoover.

Last night's semifinal episode was a somewhat lackluster affair: anomalies like Tone the Chiefrocca and Angela Hoover had minimal promise to begin with, talented acts like Jonathan Allen and Red Panda faltered, and that cute magic kid wrote himself into the world's most confusing dating show. Forte, ever the triumphant closer, is the only act that I'd put any real money on advancing -- the others are all in varying degrees of jeopardy tonight.

It was the first night of semi-finals for 12 ‘America’s Got Talent’ acts on Aug. 27 and the competition is intensifying. The fight for the top spot is on!
Week after week, we were floored by incredible quarter-final performances on America’s Got Talent. The semi-finals have finally arrived and we couldn’t be more excited. There’s no room for error on the stage and the judges definitely took a criticism up a notch. Take a look at HollywoodLife.com’s top five favorite performance from the first 12 semi-finalists!

Flips and turns and flying! Oh my! These dancer-acrobat hybrids are crazy good. With their increasingly difficult stunts, these ladies are stepping it up each and every week. Their flexibility, agility, and ability to toss their teammates sky-high make for a heart-stopping performance. Howard Stern admired their bravery to perform such dangerous skills and thought they did an “amazing job.

We find out at the top of the "America's Got Talent" that the Kristef Brothers had a terrible accident during their rehearsal, sending one brother crashing to the floor on his head. This means that they are not performing this week but hopefully can perform next week.
This means that Red Panda, who had to withdraw before the quarterfinals due to a family emergency, is here this week as Howie's wild card pick.
So, which acts stood out for you?
We think the non-singing acts are going to have a hard time. We feel confident in saying that Dave Fenley, Cami Bradley and Forte will advance to the Top 12 and Jonathan Allen might sneak in there, which doesn't leave much room for other types of acts.
Angela Hoover and Taylor Williamson will definitely be battling for the comedy vote and we'd give the edge to Taylor. Those two will unfortunately...

Time for Week 4 of "America's Got Talent's" Season 8 live shows, which featured a couple very strong acts.
Just for the record, we weren't able to recap last week because of a work committment, but we were disappointed that illusionist Leon Etienne & Romy Low and comedian Jim Meskimen were eliminated. If there's a wild card show, we hope they come back. But good for Chicago Boyz and Jonathan Allen.
Anyway, on to tonight's acts. The stand-outs for us were Timber Brown and Cami Bradley. Brown is very talented and very Las Vegas. Bradley isn't so much Vegas, but she's a good singer and her rendition of "Do You Believe in Life After Love" was great.
The audience seemed to really like Taylor Williamson, though we didn't find him that funny. Jimmy Rose we're torn on -- the audience loved him and he got the pimp spot, but the actual tone...

After the usual recap show (1.5/5) at 8 Pm, Wednesday’s live America’s Got Talent (2.5/7) got down to the business of elimination at 9 Pm as another round of 12 were cut down to four. With a performance by Jason Derulo and a very bright suit worn by host Nick Cannon, the American Spouses Choir, singer Jonathan Allen, dancer/martial artist Kenichi Ebina and dance troupe Chicago Boyz all made the cut and moved on to this season’s semifinals. Agt itself made the cut too with a 4% rise from its season low July 31 show. As is typical with live shows like last night’s Agt was on the East Coast, expect an adjustment later in the final numbers. The highest-rated and most watched show of the night with 10.03 million viewers, Wednesday’s Agt was up a solid 25% from the comparable results show from last year on July 18, 2012. Agt’s lead-out Camp (1.2/4) also saw a rise.

Four acts made their way to the semi-finals while eight others said goodbye to ‘America’s Got Talent’ for good on the Aug. 7 elimination episode. Did your favorite(s) make it through?
Even though we’ve already been through three rounds of this elimination process, America’s Got Talent continues to shock us every week. Eight acts were once again sent home and four acts moved on to the semi-finals in the Aug. 7 results show. To cushion the blow, we were treated to an amazing performance of Jason Derulo‘s “The Other Side.”
Say Sayonara To Eight More Acts
The first elimination round consisted of snake wrangler David “The Cobra Kid” Weathers, the Aerosphere Aerial Balloon Show and illusionists Leon Etienne & Romy Lowe. It was no surprise that all three acts were sent packing.
Next up was the American Military Spouses Choir, brother-sister duo Brandon & Savannah, and the dog act Kelsey & Bailey.

The stakes were higher than ever on the July 17 episode of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ as the last round of Vegas auditions brought out some incredible performances — but left some going back home!
Next stop, Radio City Music Hall! The July 17 episode of America’s Got Talent gave us one final round of auditions before the remaining contestants jet off to New York City and go head-to-head in the competition. Some contestants didn’t quite live up to expectations, while others blew us away!
Top 5 Performances For July 17
5. Special Head
While his stage name is strange to say the least, this performer still wowed us with his insane levitation skills. Special Head defied gravity — and managed to levitate over burning candles! He was completely bent over backwards and parallel to his knees. Special Head clearly has something “special,” and we wonder what he’ll do next.

Contestant Jonathan Allen took to the stage of "America's Got Talent" last night to display some seriously operatic pipes.
Standing onstage, he revealed that his parents had kicked him out of the house on his 18th birthday for being gay. After cheers from the audience, he stunned the crowd with an incredible performance, after which his singing judge Howie Mandel offered some words of support:
"Let me just say, you seem like a good person, and you have a dream, and a talent, and your own family disowned you, but with your talent, this show has become your family, and we'd like to say 'welcome home.' We love you, we accept you, and we are so proud that you came here."
Watch the video above to see Allen's rousing performance, and the loving reaction from the judges.

Below you can see America’s Got Talent contestant Jonathan Allen talk about being disowned by his parents (on his 18th birthday) for being gay, and then marvel as he earns a standing ovation for going all Boccelli.
It’s a heartbreaking but ultimately heartwarming story, and we’ll hopefully see more of this guy in the future (and yes, I winced when he said ‘lifestyle,’ but … he’s young, and he’ll learn).

"America's Got Talent" truly put their best foot forward Tuesday (June 11), opening the show with one of the night's best performers. Travis Pratt took the stage to sing, but the judges were blown away when they found out his song selection.
Pratt stunned the judges and audience both when he unleashed a powerful opera voice, even hitting incredible high notes seemingly with ease. After such a performance, there was no way he could be denied. He gave all of the credit to his girlfriend, who convinced him to try out for the show. When Howie Mandel asked the girlfriend onto the stage, it didn't take long before Travis got down on one knee to propose in front of the crowd. Of course, she accepted as Nick Cannon faked crying backstage.
Travis wasn't the only operatic singer of the night, though. Jonathan Allen was another young man with a powerful voice.

After a season premiere full of incredible performances, the bar was raised especially high for the June 11 contestants of ‘America’s Got Talent.’ So these acts upped the ante — and the emotion.
There’s almost too much talent on America’s Got Talent! Senator Rand Paul (R-ky) has been on a political high ever since he finished his nearly 13-hour-long filibuster against the Obama administration's drones policy less than three weeks ago. Politico's Jonathan Allen reported Monday that Paul, Cruz and Lee plan to hand-deliver a letter to Reid Tuesday that reads, "We will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions."...

In addition, Django earned Christoph Waltz his second British Academy Award -- Waltz's first win, also as Best Supporting Actor, was for another Tarantino effort, Inglourious Basterds...

The BAFTAs are this country’s highest honour in film, and they have handed out their awards for the 66th time to those whom they deem the most deserving in the past year in film.

The Guardian film team predict who will win what at this year's ceremony
On Friday Xan Brooks assessed the field of this year's Bafta contenders and found it "a hazy huddle of frontrunners, all seemingly bobbing back and forth in front of the finish line".
Lincoln is first among equals with 10 nominations. Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Skyfall and Argo all crowd in behind.
The awards momentum has swung from Life of Pi to Lincoln to Argo over the past few weeks. In a competition this close there could be upsets. There should be tears. There must be winners.
So here's what we think will take home scary award masks this year. We've listed all the nominees. Our predicted winners are in bold.

The full list of awards and nominees can be found here, and as the awards are announced I’ll update the liveblog below with the nominees and the winners.
The ceremony is due to start at around 7pm and if you’re hungry for all the red carpeting then head over here to see the arrivals from around 5pm.
Updates will be added at the top…But not anymore as we’ve finished.
