The next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is set to premiere on June 5, and Lucasfilm has now released two new teasers, one of which might confirm (or at least hint at) a recent rumor that's been doing the rounds.
Possible spoilers follow.
The first promo once again sees Master Sol vow to track down his wayward apprentice, Mae, who has seemingly fallen to the Dark Side and become the titular acolyte (which she is referred to as for the first time here). We then see Mae confronted at the edge of a snowy cliff, where she professes her innocence: "I didn't do it... believe me!"
If she is being sincere here, it might just confirm a persistent rumor that actress Amandla Stenberg will actually play a dual role as twins, which means Mae could have an evil sister out there taking down Jedi and framing her sibling for the murders.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for The Acolyte yesterday (see below) to mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, and a new poster for the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series has now been unveiled at Ccxp Mexico.
Some fans on social media initially attempted to pass this off as our first look at Darth Plagueis, but a closer look (see the knives?) reveals that it's actually Amandla Stenberg's character, Mae.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Speaking of Master Sol's former apprentice, a rumor relating to this enigmatic Force-wielder has re-emerged with some additional details. According to Daniel Richtman, both Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will actually play dual roles as two pairs of twins - one good, one evil.

To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

With now just one month to go until Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, a new banner has surfaced (via SFFGazette.com) highlighting the show's leads...and potentially its mysterious villain!
Mae, Sol, Venestra, Jecki, Indara, Yord, Kelnacca and Mother Aniseya are among those featured, but to the right of Sol is a mysterious figure clad in all black and wielding the red lightsaber we're betting is the same one featured in the trailers. Could this be our first look at The Acolyte's Sith baddie?
It seems likely, particularly with a helmet that instantly brings up memories of Darth Vader and the Sith Inquisitors. In fact, on closer inspection, it almost seems to boast a toothy grin, a sign perhaps that whoever is beneath the mask has a monstrous side.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Leaked Footage Features An Intense Force Battle And A Badass Carrie-Anne Moss
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace returns to theaters this weekend to celebrate its 25th anniversary. With a month or so before The Acolyte premieres on Disney+, Lucasfilm is looking to build hype for that by attaching an extended preview to the 1999 movie.
Now, that sneak peek has leaked online (via SFFGazette.com) and it features an edge-of-your-seat clash.
The clip kicks off with Amandala Stenberg's Mae entering a cantina and approaching a hooded figure who we soon learn is Carrie-Anne Moss's Jedi Master Indara.
A fight ensues which highlights martial arts and the Force, with Indara eventually wielding her green lightsaber as the footage comes to an end (it's then followed by a previously released trailer). The action here is top-notch and may sway those who have written The Acolyte off before it's even begun.

Jonathan Majors had been enjoying the peaks of stardom with his major role as Kang the Conqueror in MCU’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. His acting skills were further praised when he starred opposite Michael B. Jordan in his directorial debut, Creed III. The sports drama project not only received positive reviews for its actors’ performances among other criteria, but it also helped in bonding the actors in real life.

But, given that the former has been sentenced to probation, many wonder whether he would return in the next installment of the Creed franchise. This could happen especially when the former shares a close bond with the director-actor, who is returning to helm Creed IV.

Composer Joseph Shirley has experienced a lot of success over the last couple of years, including writing the scores for Star Wars shows “The Book of Boba Fett” and Season 3 of “The Mandalorian.” But composing music for “Creed III” was a “full circle moment,” Shirley tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview because he had worked alongside composer Ludwig Goransson on the first two “Creed” films as an assistant.
“What we wanted to do with ‘Creed III’ was to build out its texture and flavor and sound in the score that, at times, maybe is self-referential to other ‘Creed’ movies but still takes a step forward in pushing that that ‘Creed’ sound along,” Shirley says.
The third film in the blockbuster “Rocky” franchise included many firsts beyond just Shirley’s ascendance to the title of composer. “Creed III” marked the directorial debut of star Michael B. Jordan and is...

Michael B Jordan will return as star and director of Creed IV to explore the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s punchy life and career.
It looks like we’ll be getting another Creed film, according to reports that surfaced over the weekend stating that a fourth movie in the Rocky spin-off series is officially in the works. Not much else is known about the project, apart from that the franchise’s star, Michael B Jordan will not only reprise the character of second-generation boxing champ, Adonis Creed, but also he will once again direct the film too.
Jordan made his feature-length directorial debut with this year’s Creed III, adding another fine entry into what has so far been a rock-solid franchise, both in terms of quality and commercial success. The film ended its global box office run after grossing $275.3 million worldwide from a $75 million budget.

Making Creed IV has to be one of the biggest no-brainers in Hollywood. After all, Creed III grossed a robust $156 million domestically, making it the biggest film in the franchise. The gang behind the well-reviewed movie is currently doing the awards circuit, and sure enough, producer Irwin Winkler is teeing up a Creed IV. At a recent Deadline Contenders event, Winkler promised a fourth movie was on the way, saying, “We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”
Winkler also confirmed that star Michael B. Jordan, who directed Creed III to great acclaim, would return to direct the next film. “He did such a great job — he was comfortable with the camera.” Of course, this isn’t the first time there’s been talk of another Creed movie.

Let’s first address the biggest elephant in the room: Jonathan Majors. As of this writing, his trial is still going and I’m in no way advocating that Majors shouldn’t be punished if proven guilty. However, this article will only focus on the character and not the outside politics surrounding Majors himself. That said, Creed III is arguably the best film in the franchise. That’s a big assist due to Damian Anderson. What’s great about Creed III is that Michael B. Jordan wisely made it very personal by tying his character to Anderson. It made the story complex because you understand...

Jonathan Majors is currently one of the hottest actors today. Majors joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4 as the next “big bad,” Kang the Conqueror. However, he has been in other productions before, and his notoriety grows with every project. The actor has a quirky trait involving holding a cup wherever he goes, even on red carpets. Majors reveals how his mother’s advice inspired this strange habit.
Jonathan Majors has had a rapid rise to the top
Majors’ first role was in the eight-part docuseries When We Rise. The actor landed the part while still at the Yale School of Drama, playing real-life gay activist Ken Jones. Majors met Jones to learn more about him before bringing his story to the screen. He also appeared in the revisionist Western Hostiles, which debuted in 2017.

Michael B. Jordan‘s first foray into directing with “Creed III” has done quite well at the box office, and been generally enjoyed by critics and fans alike. Maybe it’s too early to consider its awards potential, but maybe not, because there seems to be more room for movies like “Creed III” now than when Jordan first played the title role in Ryan Coogler‘s “Creed” back in 2015.
What’s particularly interesting about that initial release is that it did get Sylvester Stallone nominated for his third Oscar, nearly 40 years after his first two Oscar noms for writing and starring in the original “Rocky” (1976). That iconic boxing drama led to a full-on franchise that was more about box office than awards, but “Creed” came at a time when people started taking Coogler more and more seriously following his acclaimed debut feature “Fruitvale Station.”

The climax of "Creed III" brings a whole new visual language to the series. As Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) and Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors) box for the title of world champion, we enter their shared headspace. The crowd disappears and the sounds of their cheering drop out, leaving just the two former friends to confront each other. The imagery becomes surreal: the borders of the ring become prison bars, reflecting Damian's bitterness about how much of his life was wasted in a cell. Throughout the fight, whenever one boxer lands a blow, the scene goes into slow motion emphasizing specific strikes.
The influence for this type of filmmaking is anime action scenes. Jordan, the star of this franchise and now its director too, is the king of the weebs. In an interview with Polygon, Jordan cited his favorite anime, "Naruto Shippuden," as the primary inspiration for the climax of "Creed III." After all,...

In its initial opening weekend, "Creed III" genuinely knocked out box office expectations (and records), its competition, and prior "Rocky" first weekends all in one punch. This third franchise entry sees Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) confronted by his past in the form of childhood-friend-turned-enemy Damian "Dame" Anderson (Jonathan Majors). Following an early situation that left Dame locked up while Adonis got away, Dame reemerges after almost two decades' incarceration with dreams of restoring his once-promising early boxing career. It's yet another memorable performance from the electric Majors in bringing Dame to life, alongside Michael B. Jordan expanding the "Creed" universe as both filmmaker and star.
While "Creed III" certainly boasts great performances and stunningly executed fights, one of its greatest elements is the film's attention to detail, showcasing the filmmakers' love for and knowledge of the sport of boxing. Woven into Dame's arc, character, style, and fighting habits are...

Lucasfilm has dealt with plenty of shakeups over “Star Wars” recently, but now the studio is facing a full-fledged lawsuit over their beloved franchise. Lawyers for producer Karyn McCarthy have filed a lawsuit against Lucasfilm over her axing from the upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” show “The Acolyte,” Deadline is reporting.
According to filings obtained by Deadline and submitted to the LA Superior Court on Tuesday, McCarthy — whose former producing credits include “Ballers,” “Insecure,” and “House of Cards” — is suing for breach of contract over her dismissal from “The Acolyte,” an upcoming “Star Wars” show created by “Russian Doll’s” Leslye Headland. The specific monetary damages asked for are unclear, but the lawsuit claims that McCarthy lost out on “millions of dollars” as a result of Lucasfilm’s alleged “bad faith and wrongful termination.”

The underdog story is a classic cinematic trope for a reason. We follow our heroes from humble beginnings with few believing in them, but through grit and determination, they become self-made champions. It's the American dream personified on the big screen. Few franchises have offered consistent stand-up-and-cheer moments more than "Rocky." The Italian Stallion hadn't seen the ring since 2006's "Rocky Balboa." Then, director Ryan Coogler, star Michael B. Jordan, and Stallone found a way to breathe new life into the franchise. In a world of spinoffs, reboots, and retreads, it's rare to get one that works as well as the first "Creed." The film comes out swinging with the franchise's most realistic fights, a dynamic relationship between Adonis and Rocky, and several moments that make grown men ugly cry (or at least this grown man).
Each movie has defined the central conflict...

Chicago – Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors are two of the hottest featured players in film right now and teamed up over the weekend in “Creed III,” the continuation of the Adonis Creed (Jordan) story, son of Apollo Creed from the Rocky Balboa Universe. Majors portrays Damian, the latest challenger to Creed’s reign.
Damian Anderson was a fellow juvenile detention brother to Adonis, before the troubled son of Apollo was taken off the streets by Mama Creed (Phylicia Rashad). Damian served 18 years for a gun situation that involved Adonis, and “Dame” was the Golden Gloves champion who never got his shot. When he emerges from prison, he expects Adonis to give him that shot, and eventually they face off where they should have been years before … in the boxing ring. Tessa Thompson also reprises her role as Bianca Taylor, the singing star wife of Adonis.

Creed III has finally made its entrance into the ring, and the consensus has been pretty positive. The standout attention has been rightfully given to the new heavy of the franchise, Damian Anderson, portrayed by Jonathan Majors. Both Majors and director/star Michael B. Jordan have been promoting the film in a huge marketing blitz prior to release, and if you have seen the movie, you have seen how electric the pair can be as friends as well as enemies on screen.
It’s evident that the two had struck up a friendship and enjoyed working with each other on this film, and Variety now reports that the two find their collaboration is worth working together on more projects. While Creed III may be the title of Michael B. Jordan’s new film, a lot of the story revolves around a newly introduced character: Damian “Diamond Dame” Anderson, played by Jonathan Majors. Franchise fatigue was so last week. “Creed III” (MGM) will end up around 50 percent better than pre-weekend projection with nearly $59 million.
The ninth “Rocky” franchise film and the first without Sylvester Stallone, it’s the third in the Adonis Creed reboot and the first directed by triple-hyphenate Michael B. Jordan. It begins a critical March that will see three other sequels with strong potential debuts. If 2023 is to improve to the minimum goal of $9 billion U.S./Canada gross (still far behind pre-Covid totals), franchise titles must lead the way. “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” (Disney) fell below expectations, but the new “Creed” suggests that theaters can thrive beyond Marvel.
Comparisons to the first two “Creed” entries are tricky: Both opened on pre-opening Thanksgiving Wednesdays, making weekend analysis suspect even before noting that ticket prices are now considerably higher. But any threequel that posts this strong a number is impressive.

Jonathan Majors and Michael B. Jordan are busy promoting “Creed III,” but the pair are hoping to work together again soon.
In “Creed III,” Jordan returns as Adonis Creed and stars opposite Majors, who portrays new antagonist, Damian Anderson. Ahead of the March 3 premiere, the two sat down with the New York Times to discuss the film, their individual careers and how they intend to continue to partner for future projects.
In his directorial debut, Jordan placed immense pressure on himself, which trickled down to his preparation in pitching Majors for the role. “I was all in my head, like, ‘Ok, what are the things I would want to hear? This dude can do a million different things right now. What’s going to make him take a chance on this actor-director who hasn’t directed [anything]?’” revealed Jordan.

Actor-director Michael B Jordan, whose latest film ‘Creed 3’ has hit the screens, has shared his thought process behind making Los Angeles city as a character in the film. The actor said in a statement: “Since we were kinda treating this like an origin story, a sequel and a trilogy all in one, we thought it was important to make Los Angeles a character, a homecoming of sorts. And then you break it down further like what childhood trauma did the characters share? So we leaned into the reality of those environments.”
Along with Jordan, the film also stars Jonathan Majors, who portrays the character of Damian Anderson – the former close friend of Adonis. Tony ‘Little Duke’ Evers is played by Wood Harris, while Viktor Drago is played by Florian Munteanu.

MGM’s “Creed III” kicked off its opening weekend with $5.45 million in Thursday box office previews, according to multiple media reports.
Starring Michael B. Jordan in his directorial debut, the threequel is independently projected to pull in $40 million its opening weekend. MGM is projecting $35 to $38 million, on par with “Creed II”s $35.5 million opening. The 2018 sequel brought $3.7 million from preview screenings that took place on a Tuesday night ahead of the extended Thanksgiving weekend in 2018.
“Creed III” must take in more than $115 domestically and $214 million worldwide to beat its predecessor, while the first installment in the franchise made $109 million in the U.S. and $173.5 million globally back in 2015.
The sports drama stars Jordan as Adonis Creed, boxing world champion and protégé of Rocky Balboa. “Creed III” finds its protagonist well-adjusted in both his professional and personal life, when a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors) returns...

Just as Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has stepped out of the shadow of his father Apollo (Carl Weathers) and mentor Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), "Creed" now stands on its own two legs as a franchise. The first film, where Adonis sought out Rocky to train him, followed a formula that's become known as a "legacy sequel" -- hit the beats of the original and mix old characters with new ones filling familiar archetypes.
The thing about legacy sequels is they tend to be more legacy, less sequel. The old stars usually overshadow the new ones, who fail to leave an impression. But not this time. The endurance of "Creed" is even more remarkable given the different fundamentals it operates on compared to contemporary film franchises.
The most consistently successful are superheroes. "Creed," though, is about sports. The "Rocky" series certainly got outlandish, while the introduction of Adonis' childhood friend-turned-rival...

Jonathan Majors has been an actor on the rise during the last several years, popping up in offbeat studio films like "Hostiles," "White Boy Rick" and "Captive State" before making a splash in "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" and HBO's gone-too-soon series "Lovecraft Country." It's on the strength of his work in those films and shows that Marvel Studios hired him to anchor the next phase of their Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror, a villain who's currently mixing it up with Ant-Man in the recent "Quantumania," and he continues to play challenging characters elsewhere, such as in the upcoming "Magazine Dreams."
Now he's poised to demonstrate his considerable range once again with his performance as Damian Anderson in "Creed III." In the film, Damian is a man who's grown up within the prison system while his old buddy, Adonis Creed, has risen to greatness in the boxing ring,...

There are boxing sequels and then there are boxing sequels. Longtime fans of the Rocky and Creed franchise should know exactly what we mean by both. Fortunately, Creed III is the latter, as well as one of the best entries in this long-in-the-chipped-tooth franchise. More interesting still, its success pivots on a fairly subversive idea: What if Rocky was the bad guy?
That summary might be an oversimplification of the motivations and backstory ascribed to Jonathan Majors’ Damian Anderson, but it’s also the point. In a series where the opponents are either likable yet oblivious blowhards, a la the original depiction of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), or masochistic cartoon brutes, here is a rival that challenges our hero Adonis Creed, and yet who can also claim a Cinderella story just as sympathetic as the Italian Stallion. Perhaps even more so, since Dam was the childhood pal of Adonis before...

Chicago – The highly anticipated “Creed III,” opening March 3rd, continues the “Rocky Universe” story of Adonis Creed, son of Rocky Balboa nemesis Apollo Creed. In this latest chapter Adonis is challenged by a childhood friend named Damian (Jonathan Majors), freed from prison with a score to settle.

It’s just before noon in early February and Michael B. Jordan is settling into a director’s chair on the other end of a Zoom connection. He’s in Mexico City, preparing for one of the biggest nights of his life — the world premiere of his directorial debut, “Creed III” — an event that happens to coincide with Jordan’s 36th birthday.
“I’ve got my first movie premiere for a movie I directed. What bigger celebration can happen?” Jordan asks, thinking ahead to the frenzied fans who will await him on the red carpet later that evening. “It’s kind of crazy. I’m very grateful. I’ve had birthday parties, I’ve done my fair share, but this is something special.”
The Mexico City stop kicked off a promotional tour that has taken Jordan all over the world. There were appearances in Paris, London — where he was joined by his co-stars Tessa Thompson,...

As we get closer to Spring (and that most welcome “break”), the multiplex will present a new addition to a beloved franchise. Some may be indifferent to it, but it’s unique in several ways. For one thing, it’s not based on a comic book (though another ‘s on its way in a couple of weeks), nor are its roots in video games, toys, or TV shows. No, it’s a cinema original, though technically it is a spin-off of the first series that’s almost (gasp) 47 years old (this youngster only has eight years under his championship belt). Oh, it’s also the rare sports film...
