With the impending (second or third, depending on your assessment of Rise of the Machines) reboot of the Terminator franchise, there’s a lot of speculation on what Terminator: Genisys will bring to James Cameron’s dystopian future scenario. But what about the real world?
Moore’s Law, named after Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, noted that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years. Those of us who have grown up in the computer age have seen the wisdom of that observation, as we’ve gone from the giant computer rooms of the 1960s to the mighty chips that dominate our computers and electronic devices today. It’s staggering to think that the smartphone in your pocket has thousands more times computing power than what Nasa used to get astronauts to the moon in 1969.

Wwz 'new' trailer in high definition: Pitt pitted against flesh-eating bacteria of sorts -- but where on earth is Iron Man when you most need him? Marc Forster's World War Z, the convoluted production starring screen icon Brad Pitt fighting off a deadly zombie army, has a brand new trailer. Well, maybe not so brand new after all. The Wwz trailer no. 2 (please scroll down to check it out) was dropped several days ago. (Pictured above: Pitt apparently fleeing from a zombie attack in Wwz.) Anyhow ... let's go for what's important: What are the lessons found in the not-all-that-brand-new trailer? Lesson no. 1 is clearly that the happiness and well-being of all-American families is appallingly fragile. Look out there (on on your television set) and you'll discover that there are always alien enemies eager to annihilate the private bliss of Americans. Lesson no. 2: The world is coming to an...

I’m pleased as punch to here NBC’s Revolution is seeking a couple of Justified actors to fill some minor roles in the show’s first season. Is it awesome? You bet it is! You’ll be excited too when you hear exactly who has been hired to join the future drama. Though you’d be hard pressed to find someone from Justified’s impressive cast who wouldn’t be great to have around, there are still those that tend to stand out amongst the crowd. The only trouble is, this worries me we won’t see them as much on Justified, particularly in the case of one the actors. Care to know which one?
I think we can all agree David Meunier does a fantastic job as Johnny Crowder. He’s easily one of my favorite recurring characters of the FX show. But he’s joining Revolution as recurring character as well,...

Former "Grey's Anatomy" co-star Kim Raver is joining the cast of NBC's futuristic action drama "Revolution" in a recurring role, TVLine reports.
The series, executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke ("Supernatural"), tracks life in a world without technology 15 years after a global blackout and the band of renegades fighting against a military dictatorship. Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Giancarlo Esposito and Elizabeth Mitchell star.
No word which side of the conflict Raver's character will fall on -- details on her character are being kept under wraps -- but she joins recently cast David Meunier and David Andrews as recurring players in the expanding ensemble.
Raver has had a steady presence on TV for years now. In addition to "Grey's," she had a memorable stint as Jack Bauer's on-off love Audrey Raines on "24" and roles on "The Nine," "Lipstick Jungle" and "Third Watch."
The pilot episode of "Revolution" is available for early viewing on NBC.

The third season of Justified has been undoubtedly strong, but 'The Man Behind the Curtain' takes a step back from the usual excellent villains-of-the-week to focus on Quarles. The end result is another good episode of FX's critically acclaimed drama, but one that is more transitional in nature and as a consequence, perhaps lacks a satisfying payoff at the end - despite the return of Gary (William Ragsdale) in the final few minutes. Quarles (Neal McDonough) is fighting on two fronts - one against Boyd Crowder and the other against Raylan Givens, who is now taking an active interest in the Detroit mobster. It seems like a bad move on Quarles's part to try to bribe the deputy marshal, but not to be deterred, he strikes a dodgy deal with the sheriff (David Andrews) and tells him to crack down on Boyd. Interestingly, the episode gives Quarles (more)...

Spoiler Alert! This week’s episode of Justified, “The Man Behind the Curtain” written by Ryan Farley and directed by Peter Werner, found Quarles (Neal McDonough) and Boyd (Walton Goggins) backing opposing candidates for Harlan sheriff, and Quarles and Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) trying to out maneuver one another with the arrival of Sammy Tonin (Max Perlich), the son of Quarles’ boss. Since the episode ended with Quarles finding Gary (William Ragsdale), we’ll give him the edge — for now. As we’ll be doing each week throughout the season, we asked exec producer Graham Yost to take us inside the writers room.

Spur of the moment change to the 31 Days line up (due to unforseen circumstances) and I decided to grab this little Stephen King number. This is one of the few adaptations I haven’t seen, and a couple of friends of mine like to go on and on about it. I had no idea what this was about or what to expect. You know what? I had a blast!
This number is based on a Stephen King short story, and you can tell. Something like this is more suited to say Tales From The Crypt or Masters Of Horror, but screenwriter John Esposito and director Ralph Singleton kept it short and managed to lay on enough meat to make it work. This is how you expand upon a short story successfully and keeping it the right length to avoid it getting drawn out.

World War Z Brad Pitt Zombie Attack Set Video. The Brad Pitt World War Z (2012) zombie attack set video is from a Marc Forster directed film and shows Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) in dire straits on the streets of a metropoltian city. A zombie outbreak occurs and Brad Pitt most flee from the situation very quickly. World War Z‘s plot synopsis: based on the book by Max Brooks, “The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.”
This could be good but I wish they hadn’t changed the story from the book. That is what made this zombie tale innovative.
More on World War Z:
Produced by Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Colin Wilson, the screenplay is written by...

The San Diego Comic-Con continues and brings with it rumors and hints from Covert Affairs star Piper Perabo about a possible guest appearance from Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey. Perabo said she had been talking with Headey, who was her co-star in the indie comedy, Imagine Me & You, about possibly appearing on Covert Affairs. Besides having her regular role as Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones, Headey just appeared on White Collar this week.
Speaking of guest stars in general, Santiago Cabrera will be reuniting with former Heroes co-star Sendhil Ramamurthy on the next episode of Covert Affairs that’s being shot. Ramamurthy broke the news at their Comic-Con panel; also teasing us that Cabrera would have “some shenanigans” with Perabo’s Annie. Now wouldn’t it be perfect if Cabrera were playing a heroin addict? That would be a wonderful trip down memory lane for the both of them.

There’s a heap of castings news today, including David Andrews in Covert Affairs and Lamorne Morris in the upcoming Zooey Deschanel comedy New Girl. Andrews is set to have a recurring role on USA’s Covert Affairs, but there’s no word on exactly whom he will be playing or for how long.
Morris on the other hand will become a regular on New Girl. The show stars Deschanel as Jessica, an adorable woman in her 20’s who is getting over a bad break up with her boyfriend. She moves in with three single guys. In the pilot, Damon Wayans Jr. played one of the roommates, Coach, along with Max Greenfield and Jake M. Johnson. Morris will be taking over Damon Wayans Jr.’s role. They won’t be playing the same person though. Morris will be play a new character named Winston who went away while Wayans’ character was subletting his room.

It also marks the return of "Austin Powers" and "Meet the Parents" helmer Jay Roach who has produced several films in recent years but hasn't directed since 2004's "Meet the Fockers".

HBO on Monday confirmed that it won't air Linda Bloodworth-Thomason's one-hour comedy 12 Miles of Bad Road, starring Lily Tomlin.
For the past few weeks, the series' executive producers Bloodworth-Thomason and Harry Thomason have been quietly shopping the six-produced episodes to other networks, including Lifetime.
12 Miles was picked up to series in January 2007 but was never scheduled by HBO, raising speculations about its future at the pay cable channel. The confirmation of 12 Miles' demise comes on the heels of the Sunday announcement of HBO entertainment president Carolyn Strauss' exit from her post.
12 Miles stars Tomlin as the matriarch of a wealthy Texas family whose real estate business and absurd wealth complicate the simplest family matters.
The pilot, which HBO Entertainment produced in association with Mozark Prods., co-starred Gary Cole, Mary Kay Place, Katherine LaNasa, Kim Dickens, Eliza Coupe, Leslie Jordan, Ivana Milicevic, David Andrews, Sean Bridgers, Texas Battle and Cameron Richardson.
