Elisabeth Moss found shooting 'Girl, Interrupted' to be an "intimidating" experience. The 41-year-old actress starred alongside Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie in the 1999 drama movie, and Elisabeth has now opened up about some of the behind-the-scenes dynamics with the cast. The actress - who also starred alongside the likes of Clea DuVall, Brittany Murphy, Jillian Armenante and Jared Leto in the film - said on 'Let's Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa': "There were two kind of camps. There was the Winona Ryder camp and the Angelina Jolie Camp."Elisabeth explained that the split occurred "off camera but based on what was on camera".The movie star continued: "I was in the Winona Ryder camp and the Angelina Jolie camp was really cool. Those were the really cool girls."I was so intimidated by the Angelina Jolie camp. I had no thoughts of ever being able to be in that camp.

In the series finale of Physical, lead character Sheila Rubin (Rose Byrne) takes a look at herself in the mirror and notices a pimple along her laugh line. Her natural inclination is to pop the blemish, but upon leaning in and examining the spot more closely, she decides to leave it be. The scene in the episode titled “Lucky Star” is a nod to the series premiere, “Let’s Do This Thing,” which debuted on June 18, 2021, and introduced Sheila in a similar vein along with the inner voice that would threaten to be her undoing over the next three seasons.
“It’s a small thing, but when she looks at herself in the mirror at the beginning, there’s so much beauty, yet all she sees is ugliness and darkness,” series creator Annie Weisman tells The Hollywood Reporter. “At the end of the season when she looks at herself in the mirror,...

Jillian Armenante in Kittens In A Cage
Sometimes – don’t I know it! – I can be too clever by half! Which is why the opportunity to speak with the director of a film I’ve just been theorising over is so salutary. Because nothing puts you in your place more precisely than the realisation that there is more to research than…research.
It begins with Kittens In A Cage, a film I reviewed for Eye For Film last week.
Cards on table: I loved it. Why? Not because it is ‘great,’ but because I love comedy. More: I love absurd, outrageous, campy, queer comedy and Kittens delivered all of this. It fills a niche, in terms of bringing the lesbian gaze to an area of comedy more usually dominated by guys.
But was there more to Kittens than meets the eye? I spoke to director Jillian Armenante on a mission to find out.

"I mean, of course there's a reason - it's called crime." North of Two has debuted an official trailer for an indie ensemble comedy film titled Stuck, which premiered at a few small film festivals last year. This is the feature directorial debut of an actress-turned-filmmaker named Jillian Armenante. Comedian Heather Matarazzo stars as Darby, who finds herself in trouble with the law, and is sentenced to house arrest. Now she must serve 30 days in the home she used to share with her ex-boyfriend Mo, that he now shares with his new fiancee. Sounds like fun, right? The cast includes Amir Talai, Kate Flannery, Joel McHale, and Paul Scheer. Looks like a stoner comedy, a relationship comedy, and a life-lessons drama all rolled in one. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jillian Armenante's Stuck, direct from North of Two's YouTube: Darby (Heather Matarazzo) finds herself in trouble with the law,...

Deadline is reporting that Heather Matarazzo will be offering up a new take on the old “medical professional who doesn’t play by your rules, man,” genre of films, with the Welcome To The Dollhouse star signing on to play a maverick ER nurse in Stuck. After a run-in with the law, Matarazzo’s character ends up in the most hellish possible form of house arrest, locked in her house with her ex-boyfriend and his new fiance.
Stuck is being directed by Fresh Off The Boat actress Jillian Armenante, and will feature performances from a number of well-credentialed TV performers, including Felicia Day, Joel McHale, and Kate Flannery, a.k.a. Meredith from The Office. Meanwhile, Matarazzo has had a healthy career of her own over the last few years, including performances in Tina Fey’s Sisters and the upcoming indie drama Girl Flu.

A review of tonight's "Better Call Saul" coming up just as soon as I use double ply... There is a truth inherent to the prequel business: you can't change or prevent what your audience knows is coming for these characters. Sometimes, prequels use this to their advantage, whether great ones (where the young Vito scenes in "Godfather Part II" only enhance our feelings for the Brando version of the character), or less-great ones (where whatever emotional power the "Star Wars" prequels have comes from the knowledge of what's going to become of Anakin). Sometimes, though, having to stick to pre-established facts about your characters' future can be a drag, as we're seeing a lot this season on "Gotham."(*) (*) Another good example of prequelitis: "Comanche Moon," the last "Lonesome Dove" novel to be published, but set before the events of the first, has our heroes chasing after a bad guy the...

Good morning! Thanks to Heather Hogan for taking over the Brew yesterday while I was out.
Mma fighter Cassie Robb says she is an out lesbian, just like fellow fighter Liz Carmouche, and she'll be rooting for Liz in her upcoming match.
That is a big deal to me because I myself am a lesbian and I know quite a few other Mma fighters who are as well. I don't think people look any differently at lesbian fighters. We are there to fight.. Period! It's not about your personal beliefs or what anyone thinks of them. You are in there to prove that you are the best fighter, regardless of sexual orientation. We are in there to prove to not only everyone else but to ourselves the heart, determination, and hard work it takes to get in there and do what we do.

The first season of Scandal ended with the revelation that a member of Pope & Associates might not be who she seemed. "Quinn Perkins", who was hired by Olivia in the series premiere, has only existed for a few short years, which begs the question: Who is the person behind the Quinn Perkins moniker? And how did she end up in a place like this with a position like this?
Elsewhere, Olivia and President Grant were forced apart by Mellie and Cyrus in a bid to sew up his image. Following a scandal that could have tainted his presidency and potentially force him to resign, Grant is now back in the public's good graces - but is that where he wants to be? Or would he give everything up to be with Olivia once and for all?
Below is the episode name and description for the second season of Scandal, airing later this month.

Olivia Pope has always fought for justice for her clients and now she might have to fight for justice and fight a Justice.
TVLine is reporting that Debra Mooney has signed on for a recurring role on ABC political fixer drama Scandal this season. Mooney will be playing a Supreme Court Justice in multiple episodes of the show, though nothing about her character has been revealed. She could just as easily become an asset to Olivia as she could a detriment, not even accounting for the possibility of her becoming a client or a key component in the search for the truth behind Quinn Perkins.
Debra Mooney might be best known to TV audiences as Edna Harper on The WB's medical dramedy Everwood, a role she played for the show's duration. The actress has made appearances on Weeds, ER, Bones, and The Mentalist, while Scandal will be her third character...

It looks like a former ABC star will be crossing paths with a current ABC star next season.
According to TV Guide, Desperate Housewives alum Brenda Strong has agreed to return home in a sense, having agreed to guest star on the network's political fixer drama Scandal next season. Strong, who played ill-fated Mary Alice Young (and served as narrator) on the recently wrapped mystery, will be portraying Joan Reston, a governor's wife.
Not much else is known about her character, other than she'll be appearing in at least one episode of Scandal's 13-episode second season. The show, which received positive reviews when it debuted in the spring, particularly for the performance of leading lady Kerry Washington, has been undergoing casting changes during its first hiatus. With the departure of Henry Ian Cusick and the promotion of Joshua Malina and Bellamy Young, the dynamic around Pope & Associates will be changed,...

The Contagion Trailer has premiered. Steven Soderbergh‘s Contagion (2011) movie trailer stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, and Jude Law. Contagion‘s plot synopsis: “‘Contagion’ follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.
Looks good but they shouldn’t have given away that Gwyneth Paltrow’s character dies. Why give that away in the first trailer for the film? I do like the tone of the film. They also show that the virus breaks out everywhere, possibly causing The Walking Dead, 28 Days Later devastation.
