Rush is rated R in the U.S. but G in Quebec, tiger cub swim tests, An Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth
The Blacklist is the only new show of the fall I still have a Season Pass for, and I love Alan Alda, so I’m incredibly excited that he’s set to guest star on the show, as an enemy of Red who threatens to kill him.
In the United States, Rush was rated R for nudity, violence, language, and sexual situations. In Quebec, it’s rated G, for all audiences. They decided the nudity was incidental, mostly people getting out of bed, which children have probably seen. And the violence was mostly car crashes, which were no worse than government produced seat belt commercials. So who’s right?

5. Jurgen Klinsmann Is Just As Good Second Time Around
Jurgen Klinsmann scored his third goal since his return to Spurs and was in great form, proving that he’s still as good second time around – at the age of 33.
The German was voted England’s Player...

Did you miss me? Probably not, since Louis and snicks kept you company. I spent the last week riding roller coasters, walking gardens, caves, blowing my diet, and hiking waterfalls, and feel much less homicidal than normal. On to the news!
It turns out that the Defense of Marriage Act isn't just bad for the gays, it would also keep Jeannie from marrying Master, and Superman from marrying Lois Lane.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt says that he's too good of a friend with Zooey Deschanel to ever consider dating her, but he does offer up tips about what he looks for in a partner. Are you listening, Morgan? “Making checklists of things you’re looking for in a person is the numero uno thing you can do to guarantee you’ll be alone forever. You just have to pay attention, keep your eyes open, listen to people and be present. I guess...

The Philharmonic’s production of Company, with Neil Patrick Harris, Jon Cryer, and Patti LuPone is going to be filmed and released in select movie theaters in June. Sadly, my local theaters are never “select.”
So Warner, at the MPAA’s request, is pulling the trailer for The Hangover II from theaters, where it aired in front of the PG-13 Source Code. So the monkey diving for the old man’s crotch is taboo for a green band trailer, but the gay joke in The Dilemma trailer is just fine? Thanks for defining the rules, MPAA.
A woman foraging for copper in Georgia (people still forage?) picked up a fiber line by mistake and cut off Internet access for Armenia and half of Georgia. It was an innocent mistake that’s likely to land her in jail for at least three years.

Yes, it was the year of talkative gay teens and the cat-fighting stars of The A-List: New York. It might not seem like it, but 2010 was the year gay TV grew up. Well, at least part way.
Last year, AfterElton.com asked whether gay TV had matured, and this year that question seems to have been answered. More gay characters than ever graced our screens, and with the rising number of networks making reality shows, sitcoms, and dramas, there was something for everybody from daytime to primetime. In fact, it was so good that the gayest shows on broadcast dominated ratings, and cable series upped their game.
Sure, too many of the new shows with gay characters didn’t survive very long – Mercy, Trauma, and The Whole Truth. But most new shows don’t make it, and at least these characters were something different.
And, of course, there were scandals,...

Darren Criss did a phone interview with Brett Berk over at Vanity Fair while the latter was driving an electric car across the country. You can always rely on Berk to get to the heart of the homo in any interview, and asked Criss how he could connect to the gay Blaine.
And those were the people I spent time with early on, so my whole perception of “sexuality” just wasn’t there. It just...was. It even got to the point where, later in life... I had all the components in place. I was, well, not super effeminate, but I was into girly things—I liked musical theater, all the stereotypical things. I had to come out and say, well, I’m sorry, but I think I’m straight. And people were like, say it ain’t so! And I would say, “It’s been a secret too long,...

Dance rehearsal or step class?
I've got two late additions to today's Queerview. Nightline is going to air a two part report on a Texas retreat to help people deal with their unwanted same-sex attractions. And while you were probably going to watch How I Met Your Mother tonight anyhow, we've been told Scooter aka David Burtka is making an appearance. Last night on Fox's Animation Domination, we had three gay jokes. Since so many people say we have no sense of humor when it comes to Family Guy and American Dad, I wanted to say that I found two funny, and one just O.K. Feel free to check them out and let us know what you think in the poll. The mother of the little boy who dressed up like Daphne for Halloween was on The Today Show, along with the mother who wrote My Princess Boy about...

The Daily Show With Jon StewartMon - Thurs 11p / 10cLook Who's Stalkingwww.thedailyshow.comDaily Show Full EpisodesPolitical HumorRally to Restore SanityAndrew Shirvell has been let go from his job as assistant attorney general of the state of Michigan. Shir-who? You may not know Shirvell by name, although you’re likely familiar with his online hobbies. In addition to his assistant-attorney-general gig, Shirvell moonlights as the proprietor and editor of Chris Armstrong Watch, a (recently password-protected) blog dedicated to charting the “radical homosexual agenda” of University of Michigan student-body president Chris Armstrong. As you can imagine, such adversarial Web-logging has earned Shirvell an unflattering Internet and television presence. In a post that garnered more than 50,000 page views, Gawker called him “deranged,” and his recent appearance on The Daily Show, above, similarly soiled the Shirvell name.

A Costco in San Juan put out copies of Ricky Martin’s Me ahead of Tuesday's official release date, so the details are starting to leak out as fast as people can read and put up quotes. What struck me was his story of coming out via his website.
And then all that fear I felt, the fear many people have at the moment they come out of the closet, it was just in my head. I know that maybe this is not the case with other when they decide to do it - there are those who are faced with a painful wall of misunderstanding and rejection - but I can say my own experience was nothing but positive and empowering.
Easily the most important thing in the history of the universe was the Rally To Restore Sanity and/or Fear today on the National Mall. The place was packed,...

Just a few Canadian things I'm thankful for.
Today is a special day north of the Yankee border, and so we wish our Canadian readers Happy Thanksgiving, and in the United States it's National Coming Out Day and Columbus Day. GLAAD has issued an action alert to pressure Universal Pictures remove the "electric cars are gay" joke from The Dilemma. This is an issue we first voiced a concern about three weeks ago. But industry insiders say that Ron Howard is a big enough name that he probably has the final decision on what gets cut. Honestly, I'm less concerned about it being in the film than I am about having the joke showing up in a green band trailer for all audiences. So Tom Ford couldn't have a gay kiss in his green band trailer for A Single Man, but you can have a nasty gay joke and still...

Modern Family goes all out for Halloween.
Above you can see the cast of Modern Family getting in costume for the Halloween episode, but who is who? Eric Stonestreet deliberately wanted some mystery. I'm not sure who the gargoyle is bottom-right, but I think I've got the rest figured out. Tom Pritchard of the Minnesota Family Council wants everyone to know we don't have nine dead teenagers because of anti-gay bullying, . Rather those kids are dead because they adopted an "unhealthy lifestyle." That does bring up the question of this Saturday Night Live skit that I missed about a dad beating the crap out of his artistic kid in the name of helping him stand up to bullies. I could see the argument that at least dad is involved, but I'm not certain this was the best approach at this time.

Last night Anderson Cooper invited Michigan Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell onto AC360. Shirvell's claim to fame is that he's the force behind a batwacky website called Chris Armstrong Watch.
The Chris Armstrong in question is the openly gay student body president at Shirvell's alma mater, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Shirvell's site is filled with rants calling for the duly elected Armstrong to resign over his "activist homosexual agenda," and includes such visual extras as rainbow swastikas on Armstrong's face.
(Brief aside, but Armstrong is very cute - and no doubt Shirvell tried to use only the most unflattering of photos.)
Anyhow, you'd think that once it was revealed that Andrew Shirvell was behind this venal and just plain weird website going after a college student that he would at least be circumspect - if not downright apologetic.
You'd be wrong. Here he is in all his glory, and it is must see viewing!
