Exclusive: Israel’s Keshet International (Ki) has struck its latest co-development deal, a partnership with British presenter Bettany Hughes’ indie SandStone Global.
The deal will see both outfits co-develop two premium ancient history documentary series – Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and Vikings – both of which will be presented by the award-winning historian and presenter who also runs SandStone.
Headquartered in London, SandStone has made a wealth of history docs mainly for British broadcasters and mainly helmed by Hughes, including the likes of Bettany Hughes’ Treasures of the World and Bettany Hughes’ Grand Tour: From Paris to Rome. Based on Hughes’ book, Seven Wonders of the Ancient World follows in the footsteps of the very first tourists, travelling between these marvels of human ingenuity as the ancients once did. In the four-part historical docu-series Vikings, she...

Another year, another crossroads for the content business. As buyers and sellers gather in Cannes this week for Mipcom, change is in the air yet again on both sides of the Atlantic.
In the U.S., the largest media conglomerates are all in rebuilding mode, even the mighty Disney. The Europe and the U.K., on the other hand, the sense of opportunity is palpable as the largest streamers fight to compete on a global scale that has opened up doors for non-English language content.
The conference will kick off with Gerhard Zeiler, Warner Bros. Discovery’s president of international, who will unveil roll out plans for its standalone service, Max, across Europe, including in France where local originals have been commissioned. Wbd made headlines in the run up to Mipcom due to an exodus of top-ranking executives that has made way to a new leadership structure for global markets.

Fox has given an eight-episode order to Slide Show, an unscripted comedy from Shine America and Steve Carell. It is based on international format Anything Goes, originally created by Arthur Essebag for French-based production company Satisfaction, The Television Agency. Slide Show pits two teams — featuring the nation’s funniest celebrities and comedians — against each other in a series of showdowns designed to hilariously test mind and body. Unfortunately, not much is, as of late,” said Reilly. “Slide Show is the most ridiculously fun and out-there thing I’ve seen in quite awhile.” Added Carell, “Comedy is subjective, but if you don’t find Slide Show...
