The below note is from one of my dearest longstanding friends in the world, Dyanne Asimow, the respected Hollywood screenwriter.
Her film Bill's Mountain is a great example of modern filmmaking of our times.
Over several years, living in the heart of Los Angeles, in the wild yet city center Laurel Canyon, she photographed a strange, reclusive, somewhat wild man neighbor of hers - Bill.
What happens during the rhythmic real time passages here is life as it is lived among a very strange set of people living in the city (wild woods mountains actually) and surviving and doing things very much their own way.
I think the mood and content of this piece strikes me as a wonderful example of where the new mobile ever present flexible technology takes us. To literary heights almost. And coming from a smart woman like Dyanne this is a very intelligent and thoughtful piece.
Meanwhile, Bill perseveres as you can see by Dyanne's note below.
See the film, I strongly recommend.
Here's how, from Dyanne - "I am proud to announce that my documentary, Bill's Mountain, is available on Amazon. Profits from the sale of the DVD will go to help feed Bill's cats. Those of you who have seen the film will understand how important they are to Bill, who seems to have run out of money (with the assistance of some scuzzy hanger-ons)." Click Here for the DVD...
