Annette Bening, Bill Nighy and Josh O’ Connor are ready to deal with some serious family issues in the drama Hope Gap. Screen Media Ventures and Roadside Attractions released the film today on digital platforms after having to pivot from their originally planned March 5 theatrical release due to the pandemic –because the show must go on.
Directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter William Nicholson and based on his Tony Award-nominated play, The Retreat From Moscow, Hope Gap made its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival before hitting the festival circuit.
Hope Gap follows the lives of Grace (Bening) and Edward (Nighy), who have been married for 29 years, as they navigate through stages of shock, disbelief and anger, to a place of hope. They live in a small seaside town near a cove under the cliffs called Hope Gap — hence the title of the film. When their son Jamie (O’Connor...

Welcome to the world, baby Renetta!
A newborn girl was safely delivered in a mid-size car Tuesday morning on Chicago’s Lake Short Drive with help from Chicago Fire Department emergency medical technicians, according to DNAinfo.com.
The family was on their way to Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago when they got stuck in stand-still traffic due to storm Stella.
The parents quickly realized they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.
First responders Anthony Prowell and Kim Bailey rushed to the scene. They had been told it was a “maternity” call and Prowell expected the mother might have her baby,...

It’s almost that time of year again, as the eyes not just of a sport but of a nation fix on Aintree and the people’s race the Grand National.
Forty runners will line-up for the most unique and demanding challenge in horse racing and the world’s most famous steeplechase is arguably the hardest race of the year to find the winner of from a punting perspective.
Hopefully my runner-by-runner guide will be able to steer you in the right direction though and help you pick out a horse, or several, that will be staying on at the elbow rather than crashing out at the first.
Therefore, in handicap order, here is my runner-by-runner guide to the 2013 Grand National:-
1. Imperial Commander – Impressive Gold Cup winner in 2010, but career blighted by injury since. Excellent comeback run after a lengthy absence when ½ length second to subsequent Gold Cup fifth Cape...

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

The 2nd Annual Streamy Awards are April 11, 2010. That's 180 days until the winners are announced live on stage, and we thought it's never too early to start handicapping the field. So it's nice to see that The Mercury Men posted a behind the scenes look at the pulp sci-fi web series' production design. Mercury Men creator Christopher Preksta released the documentary video (above) as part of his "Mercury Mondays" weekly production journals. "Design is really important to me," said Preksta in the video, "It's another tool that I as a filmmaker have to support my story and set the tone, the world and bring a unique vision to the story." In the video we learn that Mercury Men design pulls from three separate themes—the 30's/40's sci-fi pulp (Buck Rodgers, Flash Gordon), 1950's sci-fi movie's noir, and the early 60's Us Space program. Costumer Ricky Lyle, who also worked on Preksta's Streamy-nominated Captain Blasto,...
