Michael Keaton and Michelle Monaghan ("Source Code," "M:i-3") are set to star in the psychological thriller "Penthouse North" at Lionsgate International says The Hollywood Reporter.
Monaghan plays a photojournalist haunted by a tragic event who has become an agoraphobic trapped in her upscale New York penthouse. Soon the world makes its way in as a smooth but sadistic criminal (Keaton) breaks in looking for a hidden fortune, with the woman mustering her inner strength to survive.
Joseph Ruben ("The Forgotten," "Sleeping with the Enemy") will direct. Shooting kicks off in Ottawa in November. Ruben, Jeff Sackman, Michael Baker and Jon Shiffman are producing while David Loughery ("Lakeview Terrace") penned the script.

For decades now we've been crazy about actor Michael Keaton. From his portrayal of Batman to his stint in the afterlife as Beetlejuice, the actor knows full well how to bring an unbalanced nature to his roles, and in the new flick Penthouse North he'll be bringing some true psycho to the big screen.
From the Press Release
Michael Keaton and Michelle Monaghan will star in Penthouse North, a taut psychological thriller from director Joseph Ruben, producer Jeff Sackman announced today.
Ruben was elated with his stars. “Michelle Monaghan is an incredible actor whom audiences love and connect with completely. And Michael Keaton can do it all. He has a special talent for creating complicated villains who are dark, charming and ultimately terrifying. Put these actors together, and you've got the makings for a hell of a thriller.”

NEW YORK -- Ben Stambler has been appointed director of acquisitions at ThinkFilm. The indie studio also promoted Michael Baker to vp and David Laub to manager of acquisitions.
Stambler, who arrives at the company after serving for three years as Magnolia Pictures' manager of acquisitions, will report to head of U.S. theatrical Mark Urman and senior vp acquisitions and business affairs Randy Manis. He replaces ThinkFilm founding exec Daniel Katz, who left the company to run financial service firm Guggenheim Partners' new film financing initiative.
"As our company elevates to the next level, it is crucial to fortify the ranks with smart and aggressive executives," Manis said. "Stambler's background and training -- and the fact that he doesn't own a suit -- make him a perfect fit for us as we begin to acquire bigger films and to co-finance and produce a portion of our slate."
Five-year ThinkFilm veteran Baker has been promoted from director of acquisitions and development.
