The visual effects committee of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has decided that Digital Domain is one of the effects houses that should be credited on The Day After Tomorrow, which is on the short list of seven films being considered for the best visual effects Oscar. Originally, 20th Century Fox had submitted Remo Balcells of the Orphanage in place of Digital Domain's Matthew Butler. But the committee decided that Butler should be credited along with visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas, practical effects supervisor Neil Corbould and Hydraulx's Greg Strause at the annual visual effects bakeoff Jan. 19.
