When Air Force One Down begins, Allison Miles has already made a name for herself as one of the first female Marines to qualify for special operations. That has impressed Uncle Sam, both the US government and her actual Uncle Sam, to offer her a job with the Secret Service, something she’s happy to accept.
And she’s going to get thrown in the deep end at her new job as on her first day, one of the agents on the President’s detail calls in sick. He’s one of several federal employees to suddenly come down with a bad case of lead poisoning. Sam drafts her to replace him, working with him to protect President Edwards, whom she is not a fan of, on his...

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
It is remarkably difficult to picture now, but there was a time when superhero movies were not the dominant force in Hollywood. They were, at best, a fluke when they worked. Marvel only gained its first mainstream hit with "Blade" in 1998 and, frankly, its $131 million global haul is very modest by modern standards. That movie, however, opened the door for 2000's "X-Men," which is arguably the watershed moment in superhero movie history, with "Spider-Man" blowing the door wide open in 2002.
"X-Men" taking in nearly $300 million worldwide against a $75 million budget gave 20th Century Fox confidence to move forward with a sequel almost right away, and that sequel would arrive in 2003 in the form of "X2," aka "X2: X-Men United." In every conceivable way,...

“Luther” sequel film “The Fallen Sun” opens like many of the episodes from the Idris Elba detective drama: with someone getting murdered. In the film’s case, the victim is Callum Aldrich (James Bamford), who is kidnapped and killed by wealthy serial killer David Robey (Andy Serkis). But in the film’s first draft, Callum was a woman before creator Neil Cross made a rewrite — at the request of Netflix.
Cross revealed the change in a recent interview with The Independent. The writer, who created the original series and penned every episode in addition to “Fallen Sun’s” screenplay, said that the first victim was female in the original script in part because he believes violence against women is more “frightening” for viewers.
“For reasons I fear to interrogate too deeply, the female victims resonate and scare more deeply,” Cross told The Independent. “So, there was a defiant part of...

Amber Bain is back with “Boyhood,” a new song from her project The Japanese House. Listen to the track below.
“Boyhood” pairs bubbling synths with driving acoustic guitar as The Japanese House looks back at her adolescence, made all the more confusing by her queer identity. Fortunately, with the opening line, “I could’ve been somebody else but I’ve been out looking for me,” she sings the track with the confidence of someone who’s come to accept themselves.
Watch the music video for The Japanese House’s “Boyhood” below.
“When my best friend Katie and I were young and in love, we dreamed of riding off into the distance on her horse Bam Bam, away from all the problems that came from being gay and in love back then,” Bain explained of the track.
“This song talks about how sometimes, however hard you try, you can’t help...

The Shazamily is back and ready to fight evil. It's been several years since the last film, and we're just weeks away from the premiere of "Shazam! Fury of the Gods." The kids are growing up, but they're not adults quite yet -- well, not in their house, anyway. One word turns them into their adult counterparts, and they're off to keep crime down in Philadelphia. It's not going well, though, with reports from papers and TV news anchors being really unappreciative of their powers. Not fair! Especially after they save a whole lot of people (and kittens).
Now the Shazamily is facing a new threat in the form of goddesses, aka the Daughters of Atlas, who are looking for a dangerous artifact.
I recently spoke to adult cast members Ross Butler, Grace Caroline Currey (who plays both versions of Mary), Adam Brody, Meagan Good, and D.J. Cotrona about working with their kid counterparts,...

This Batwoman review contains spoilers.
Batwoman Episode 18
Let’s pop some of Mary’s champagne and toast the Bat Team because this was one hell of an episode! The first half was a high-stakes heist, while the second half piled on one twist after another.
I’m not a big twist fan – I’m of the belief that if the show or movie is no longer enjoyable with the twist spoiled, then it wasn’t very good to begin with – but these don’t feel like cheap, plot-driven gotcha moments that fall apart under scrutiny. Rather, while I’m in danger of falling into Magpie pun land, this is Batwoman’s chickens coming home to roost. The groundwork for Reagan, Magpie, and Tommy was laid in the first half of the season, and the added complications with Julia, Mary and Luke are building on the trajectory of recent episodes.

Spoiler Warning: This article reveals major plot points from tonight’s series finale of Arrow on The CW.
The 170th and finale episode of The CW’s Arrow aired as the second-half of Tuesday night’s double-episode farewell to Stephen Amell’s austere archer after eight seasons of yeoman’s work both as Star City’s brawny protector and as the somewhat unlikely centerpiece of television’s largest superhero universe.
The Arrowverse may be populated by a flying, bulletproof woman with heat vision (on Supergirl), the fastest man alive (on The Flash), and a time-traveling size-shifter (on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) but it takes its name from a simple street brawler who’s good with a bow.
The finale had an extra layer of complication in the fact that Amell’s bowman didn’t survive to participate in it — he sacrificed his life during the cosmic crossover event called Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Here we go, Emerald Archer fans. After eight seasons, Arrow is coming to an end. Last week’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” conclusion featured the second and ultimate death of Oliver Queen, but there’s still two episodes of the original Arrowverse show to go. Tomorrow brings us the backdoor pilot for Green Arrow and the Canaries and then we have the big one, the series finale. And from these photos, it looks like we can expect an emotional, star-studded hour.
As has long been confirmed, Emily Bett Rickards is returning as Oliver’s wife Felicity Smoak for the finale. These pics promise it’ll be a substantial comeback for her, too, as it looks like she’ll be the heart of the episode. What’s more, several other ex-members of Team Arrow will also be dropping by Star City. Thea Queen (Willa Holland) and Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) are depicted reuniting,...

In less than a month, Arrow will conclude its eight-season run with an emotional farewell to Oliver Queen, the hero who not only saved the fictional Arrowverse on several occasions but also carried the franchise through thick and thin.
Frankly, we’d known for a while that the emotional goodbye was coming, but the idea that in just a couple of weeks, diehard fans will have to watch the last episode of the show, ever, is somewhat heart-wrenching. Not to mention that considering the fact that Oliver is supposed to perish in the upcoming hours of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” we’re still unsure as to how the writers are going to handle his last farewell in both the penultimate and final episode of Arrow.
All is up for speculation at this point, but the synopsis for the last outing of the series, titled “Fadeout,” can at least give fans...

The final season of Arrow is doing a good job of setting up the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, but isn’t remiss in giving Oliver Queen his ultimate swansong as the hero that started it all.
The green-hooded vigilante of Star City has been going through quite an emotional ordeal over the last couple of episodes. In a quest to save the world and assist the Monitor in preparing the multiverse for the upcoming crisis, Oliver and his team have also been collecting fragments of the truth about the cosmic being who goes by the name of Mar Novu.
In doing so, the Green Arrow has yet to face betrayal from a familiar character, and now, the official synopsis for the last midseason finale of Arrow, titled “Purgatory,” teases the return of Team Arrow to Lian Yu.

At the time of this writing, we’ve had the chance to enjoy only two episodes from Arrow‘s eighth and final season. But when it comes to production on the DC Comics-based series, it’s actually close to wrapping. Yes, filming on episode 8×10, the series finale, is right around the corner, so ready your tissues.
To briefly bring you up to speed, 8×08 will air as the fourth part in the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, whereas 8×09 will serve as the backdoor pilot for the Green Arrow and the Canaries spinoff. And when it comes to the aforementioned finale that is 8×10, that’ll be titled “Fadeout.”
Thanks to consulting producer Marc Guggeheim on Twitter, said episode title is now public knowledge. Seen below in the gallery are two exhibits: The front page to the script itself, as well as the final page that’s sure to have people talking.

At this point, what else can I say about Arrow?
When it first debuted back in 2012, DC fans everywhere wondered if it would measure up to Smallville, especially since this new guy named Stephen Amell had been placed under the hood instead of Justin Hartley. But what followed were years of incredible adventures that changed superhero television forever – and for the better.
I mean, not only did this new take on Oliver Queen amaze us all with a more rough-and-tumble style, but the series gave birth to what’s now known as the “Arrowverse,” which is also populated by The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman and Black Lightning. This unique vision has brought the DC Comics universe to life like no TV show – or movies, for that matter – have done before. It’s had a profound impact on people the world over,...

Ever since Arrow‘s seventh season finale aired this past May, we’ve known it to be an absolute certainty that Oliver Queen will die during the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event. When it comes to specifics, however, we’re just going to have to tune in to find out how it all goes down.
If we can bank on anything, it’s that Ollie will likely die a hero’s death. After all, would you expect anything less from the guy whom we have to thank for the entire Arrowverse even being around? I highly doubt he’s going to get eaten by T-Rex while sitting on the toilet like that dude in Jurassic Park, or something equally inconsequential.
Seemingly backing up the vaguest of suspicions is that of actor Stephen Amell himself, who posted a rather amusing meme on Twitter. Seen below, the bloodied Emerald Archer’s...

After a lengthy summer hiatus, most of our favorite Arrowverse shows will return next week, those being Supergirl, The Flash and Black Lightning, with the series premiere of Batwoman preceding them all. In a cruel twist of fate, we’ll be forced to wait an additional week for Arrow‘s eighth and final season to kickoff. Legends of Tomorrow, meanwhile, won’t arrive to the party until January of 2020.
With us being a stone’s throw away from showtime though, the network has finally coughed up the official synopsis for the premiere episode, “Starling City.” So, without further delay, here it is:

Meanwhile, Mia (Katherine McNamara) and William’s (Ben Lewis) team clash with a new foe. James Bamford directed the episode written by...

Arrow is bowing out with its upcoming eighth season, with its final 10 episodes serving as something of a victory lap for the long-running CW show. We’ve previously had it confirmed that the first two episodes of the season will pay homage to past runs, with episode 1 calling back to its debut season and episode 2 returning to themes and characters of season 3.
Continuing this nostalgia for the show’s past, star Stephen Amell is now teasing the return of Oliver Queen’s original outfit from Arrow‘s first season. The actor shared a snap of himself with producer/director James Bamford on Twitter. Though he attempted to scribble over the suit he’s wearing in the selfie, it’s clear to fans that he’s back in the costume worn by “the Hood” in the Emerald Archer’s early days of saving Star City. Or Starling City, as it was known at the time.

At the final San Diego Comic-Con panel for Arrow today, the group paid homage to the show's lead, Stephen Amell.
Arrow stars Amell, David Ramsey, Juliana Harkavy, Katie Cassidy. Rick Gonzalez, executive producers Marc Guggenheim and director James Bamford were all on hand to talk about the upcoming final season, share memories, and offer reveals.
“This show doesn’t exist without him,” Cassidy said of Amell. “I’m so proud of him and so impressed with him.”
“A true leader,” Harkavy said.
“I've not worked with anyone who cares more about the fans, about the crew, about the writing... It is all because he cares about it... There would not be DC on television after Smallville about Stephen Amell,” Ramsey said.
"When I came, coming in Season 5, immediately, I saw the hard work that he put in for the last four seasons and I remember distinctly last season, Season 7," Gonzalez said.

The eighth and final season of Arrow began filming this week, and Stephen Amell has been busy marking the occasion. After sharing an Instagram story of himself en route to shooting, the actor has now posted a shot of the clacker board for the first episode. We know that the installment is called “Starling City,” while news is coming thick and fast on returning characters, as well as buzz about the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” storyline.
Amell’s shot of the clacker board doesn’t reveal much unfortunately, with James Bamford directing and Gord Verheul shooting the episode. What’s more striking is the Arrow season 8 logo, and Amell’s caption of “one last time.” These posts suggest it’ll be hard for him to leave Oliver Queen behind, although we’re hopeful for an emotional send-off for the hero.

If you’re able to accurately remember how close Arrow producers held their cards to the vest one year ago, then you may be able to draw a parallel to our current situation. As the eighth and final season draws closer, we still don’t fully know what to expect. One would hope more details will be brought to light at San Diego Comic-Con next week, but much mystery will likely be preserved.
Based on the information we’ve received thus far though, it may be fair to assume the show will veer more toward the direction of science fiction than we’re used to seeing. After all, even Stephen Amell has hinted at Arrow season 8 essentially serving as a prelude to the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.
Adding to the intrigue is that of executive producer and current showrunner Beth Schwartz, who posted the following image on Twitter.

If you checked out last fall’s “Elseworlds” crossover, then you may agree with me in saying it was probably the Arrowverse’s best prime time mashup to date. Of course, it’s entirely possible for the event to be outdone by “Crisis on Infinite Earths” later this year, but let’s not take anything away from this ambitious story arc in the meantime.
By now, I imagine that a percentage of those reading this article have already begun reliving the most recent seasons of DC TV on Netflix, while others may be viewing it for the first time. After all, a sizable chunk of the fanbase waits around until they can binge-watch seasons in full.
As such, we’re about to let you know how to properly experience “Elseworlds.”

To say that a lot has transpired during Arrow‘s seventh season is quite the understatement. After kicking things off with Oliver Queen in prison, Star City was graced with a new Emerald Archer whom we assumed to be a hero. But as it turned out, the vigilante was actually Emiko, Ollie’s estranged sister, and leader of the terrorist organization known as the Ninth Circle. And since the true Green Arrow was released from the clink, he’s had to accept the fact that his own flesh and blood is the new big bad in town.
Given all that, I’m expecting for next week’s season finale to be both action-packed and emotionally draining. Fortunately, the network has thoroughly whetted our appetites with no less than eighteen images taken from the climactic episode, each of which can be found in the gallery below.

In less than two weeks, Arrow‘s seventh season will have concluded and we’ll be forced to endure several months without new adventures featuring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer. On the plus side, the next couple of episodes should prove to be quite explosive, as past years have taught us around this time.
Obviously, the finale will feature the final showdown between Oliver and Emiko, who’ve been engaging in the most dangerous of sibling rivalries. And while the cryptic synopsis guarantees just that, it does offer something else quite intriguing:
Family Ties — The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Emiko (Sea Shimooka) comes to a boiling point which brings back some familiar faces and leaves others in dire jeopardy. James Bamford directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Rebecca Bellotto (#722). Original airdate 5/13/2019.

That’s, as they say, a “show wrap” for Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards, who on Tuesday evening filmed her final scene (at least as a series regular) on the CW drama she has called home for seven seasons.
Rickards announced last month, in a most unexpected Instagram post, that she would not be returning for Arrow‘s eighth and final season, which will run just 10 episodes.
“There are days when actors shed a noble tear in a scene and there are days when they ugly cry to the point of fogging up their scene partner’s glasses,” leading man...

If learning that the series will end following its eighth season weren’t enough, Arrow fans also had reason to get misty-eyed this past weekend when reading that Emily Bett Rickards will make her exit well before then. But if “Olicity” shippers are to make off with any sort of consolation prize, it’s that they finally got their baby.
What’s kind of funny is that we saw said baby before she actually had a chance to be born in a chronological sense. Those who’ve been keeping up with the show have been aware of how a certain gal named Mia had been given ample screentime during the flash forward segments. And as it turns out, she’s actually the offspring of Oliver and Felicity.
To offer explanation of how she rose from simple country girl to badass vigilante, the producers detailed Mia’s background in “Star City...

When the first promo dropped for next week’s episode of Arrow, “Star City 2040,” it became apparent that the Powers That Be are holding their cards close to the vest. Then again, that’s something we’ve grown used to over the course of the current season because there’s been more secrecy surrounding the series as of late than ever before.
But whereas the aforementioned trailer more so teased Mia Smoak’s upbringing, the images released by the network focus on what’s actually going down in 2040. Because of that, I doubt we’ll see anything of whatever’s been unfolding in 2019 involving Oliver, Emiko and Dante, with that probably being saved for “Inheritance” on March 25th.
As we examine the gallery below, I can’t even begin to guess why Mia, Connor Hawke and the rest of the gang are dressed like they’re living out a scenario from Eyes Wide Shut.

As a fan of Arrow, I must admit that I’m conflicted at the moment. Like many of you, I’m very much looking forward to next week’s episode, “Star City 2040,” but I’m dying to see what lies ahead in the present day narrative for Emiko Queen now that we know it’s she who burned Ricardo Diaz alive in his prison cell. As always, all we can really do is enjoy the ride.
I can’t say I’m too surprised at how the producers and network aren’t willing to cough up much when it comes to “Star City 2040,” but I thought they’d give us a little more to chew on than what’s offered in the promo found at the top of this article. On the plus side, it does tease that we’ll learn more about how Felicity raised Mia and how those...

Those of you who’ve been keeping up with the current season of Arrow have no doubt been witness to the latest storytelling element employed by the writers, that being the flash forward. In stark contrast to seasons 1-5 detailing Oliver Queen’s time abroad via flashbacks, we’re now being thrust twenty years into the future in order to see a Star City with a dramatically changed landscape in various respects.
As such, viewers have been trying to pin down what year the future sequences take place in, not to mention scratching their heads wondering how certain characters got to that point. Furthermore, some theorized this was all prelude to Legends of Tomorrow‘s “Star City 2046,” but that notion has been shot down because said adventure is not being regarded as Arrow‘s canonical future.
Well, expect to have many of your questions answered – and then some – once “Star...

Midway through a season that has meted out future incarnations of well-known characters, The CW’s Arrow is ready to throw a powdered wig (or at least a stray gray hair) onto its leading lady.
The network synopsis for Season 7’s 16th episode — titled “Star City 2040,” written by showrunner Beth Schwartz, directed by stunt coordinator James Bamford and famously featuring all flash forwards — finds Mia (played by Katherine McNamara) and newly discovered half-brother William (Ben Lewis) venturing into the Glades on a dangerous mission. There they run into Dinah, Roy and Zoe (Andrea Sixtos) who deliver some devastating news.
