The Peacock revival of ’90s favorite “Saved by the Bell” will not be back for a third season, the streamer confirmed on Wednesday.
The updated series brought back original cast members Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Mario Lopez, as series regulars and featured Tiffani Thiessen, Lark Voorhies and Mark-Paul Harry Gosselaar as guests, with now-California governor Zack Morris ( Gosselaar) sending students of schools he closed to Bayside High.
The new students included Belmont Cameli, Dexter Darden, Mitchell Hoog, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Josie Totah and Haskiri Velazquez, with John Michael Higgins as Principal Toddman.
The second season dropped in November and won Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards on April 2, beating out such competition as “Love, Victor” and “Sex Education.”
Peacock paid tribute to writer and exec producer Tracey Wigfield, as well as eps Franco Bario and Peter Engel and Universal Television in the following statement on Wednesday:

Exclusive: School is closing. Saved By The Bell has been canceled by Peacock after two seasons.
Deadline understands that the cast and crew were told yesterday.
It comes only a month after the reboot of the classic NBC comedy won Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards.
The second season of the show dropped in November after the first season reportedly performed well for the streaming service.
In the reimagined series, when California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the privileged Bayside kids (who never have a problem that can’t be solved in 22 minutes) a much-needed dose of reality.

Netflix is launching its first-ever “Stranger Things” pop-up stores on Nov. 6.
The pop-up shops, located in New York City’s Times Square and The Americana at Brand in L.A., will immerse fans in the “Stranger Things” universe, offering exclusive merchandise for sale, as well as photo moments.
The merchandise includes an Elegorgon, which is a vinyl piece by Ecuadorian artist Chogrin that showcases what an Eggo waffle eating tween would look like if mashed up with a demogorgon; General Mills “Stranger Things” cereal that comes packed in original 1980s-style boxes but set in the world of the show; collectible Bandai action figures, including 16-inch demogorgons with interchangeable heads; customizable apparel stations and more.
Meanwhile, the photo moments include — for a limited time — getting up close to a hidden demogorgon in the Upside Down, popping into Hawkins Middle’s Snowball Dance, the Starcourt Mall, the Russian Lab and Joyce’s House.

When Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” reimagining drops its second season on Nov. 24, it will pay tribute to original cast member Dustin Diamond right from the premiere episode.
Diamond played Samuel “Screech” Powers beginning in “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” the prequel to “Saved by the Bell” in 1988. He continued the character through the flagship series, short-lived “College Years” spinoff and six years of “The New Class” spinoff, making his time with the character a dozen years in total. Diamond passed away from lung cancer in February of this year. His character was referenced in the first season of the new incarnation of the show, but Diamond was not invited onto it as a guest star.

Saved By the Bell is returning for a second go-round. Peacock has ordered a 10-episode second season of the critically praised comedy, a reimagining of the classic NBC series.

It’s All Right: ‘Saved by the Bell’ Cast, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots Remix Show’s Theme Song (Video)
The “Saved by the Bell” cast, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots just remixed the show’s classic theme song.
The “Tonight Show” version all starts out normal enough, just with Fallon and Thiessen on the vocals. And then the record scratched.
That’s when Tariq Trotter of The Roots — a.k.a. Black Thought — changed it all up, spitting: “Early ’90s NBC/2020 streaming on Peacock/Pete Engel, show creator/Jessie, Kelly, Zack…”
“A.C. Slater,” Lopez interrupted, himself rapping (decently). “The Preppy hater/The Jessie Spano dater/Life is greater when we’re reunited…”
That was Berkley’s cue to cut in with her “I’m So Excited” gag.
Watch the video above.

Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen), Slater (Mario Lopez) and Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley) are back at Bayside (in one way or another) for Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” reboot, just in case you were running short on things to be thankful for this year. A lot has changed in the almost 30 years since Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and the gang from the original “Saved by the Bell” graduated from Bayside High School. Not only is he now the governor of California within the world of that show, but the school itself has gotten a major upgrade for the new Peacock series, courtesy of production designer Joseph Lucky.
Iconic original sets including the Bayside hallway corner, principal’s office and the Max diner have been painstakingly re-created — often, Lucky says, by using screenshots as references because the original sketches have been lost to time. “Trying to mimic someone else’s work [Ken Johnson designed the original] isn’t as easy as it seems, so the challenge there for me was to actually get it right and then to put my touches on it,” he explains.

The creator of YouTube series “Zack Morris Is Trash,” Dashiell Driscoll, is a writer on Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” reboot. But don’t take the hiring as an endorsement that producers on the new streaming version agree the original Tnbc “Sbtb” lead character, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, is, indeed, trash.
Ahead of the “Saved by the Bell” reimagining’s Thanksgiving-timed launch, we told new showrunner Tracey Wigfield (“30 Rock”) and Franco Bario, who has been a producer on every iteration of the teen series since its “Good Morning, Miss Bliss” inception, how (not genuinely) offensive we found the title and conceit of Driscoll’s brilliant Funny or Die series.

Exclusive: Time out! Bayside High is about to take over Peacock. The streaming service is set to launch a new Saved by the Bell channel on November 16 ahead of the reimagining of the classic Saturday morning show, which will debut on November 25.
The channel will available on Peacock for free and include over 100 episodes from the original Saved by the Bell series, Saved by the Bell: The College Years, Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style, and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Vegas. It will be non-stop Bayside fun with Zack, Kelly, Slater, Jessie, Lisa and Screech to keep you satisfied until the revival makes it big premiere.
In the new series, Mark-Paul Gosselaar reprises his role as Zack Morris. His charmingly scheming ways have paved the road for him to become the governor of California. True to Zack Morris form, he is in hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools.

You’re next, Screech. Ok, so we seriously doubt that, but Peacock said on Thursday Lark Voorhies will make a “special appearance” as former Bayside High fashionista Lisa Turtle on its upcoming “Saved by the Bell” reboot series.
The exciting announcement came two days after the NBCUniversal streaming service revealed the “Saved by the Bell” trailer. Watch that here.
Fans of the original “Saved by the Bell” will probably remember the salacious purported tell-all book “Behind the Bell” penned by Dustin Diamond, who played Samuel “Screech” Powers on the teen series. “Behind the Bell” was poorly received by the rest of the “Sbtb” cast — and by book critics.
Diamond has since expressed regret over “Behind the Bell.”
On the original “Saved by the Bell,” Diamond’s nerdy Screech was obsessed with Lisa.

Lark Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle in the original “Saved by the Bell,” will reprise the role for a special appearance in the new Peacock series.
The NBC streaming platform released a first-look image of the actor back in character on set. She joins Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley as members of the original cast slated to return for the new show.
The new series follows a group of students at Bayside High, a well-funded school for students from upper-class and lower-class families. The main cast of students includes Belmont Cameli, Dexter Darden, Mitchell Hoog, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Josie Totah and Haskiri Velazquez.
Earlier this year, Voorhies shared on “The Dr. Oz Show” that not being included alongside other original cast members left her upset. She also suggested that her diagnosis with bipolar disorder, which was the focus of her chat with Dr. Oz, could have played a role in her exclusion.

Another Saved by the Bell alum has been confirmed to appear in the forthcoming revival.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Lark Voorhies will return as Lisa Turtle.
She joins former cast members Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly), Mario Lopez (Slater), and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren (Jessie).
This means that Dustin Diamond's Screech is the only lead original cast member to not have a role in the new series.
Given events of recent years, don't expect Diamond to be a part of the show, either.
If the new series wants to address him, it will likely be a comment in passing about what became of the beloved character. .
Recasting such a pivotal character would probably not go down well with fans.
EW did not reveal whether Voorhies is back in a recurring capacity or a guest star, but it notes that Lisa is “thriving with a successful career in fashion.

Peacock dropped the trailer for its “Saved by the Bell” reboot on Tuesday, and the old Bayside gang is (mostly) back together. But let’s be honest, you’re just here to see Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Kelly (Tiffani Amber Thiessen).
Well, now you can get your first glimpse of Bayside’s first couple: Watch the wink-heavy trailer via the video above.
All of your favorite gags are in there, and Max looks like he hasn’t aged a day. Or, you know, grown-up at all.
Plus, we get an updated “Friends Forever” remix out of a Zack Attack reunion, a timeout from not Zack, and Slater (Mario Lopez) takes his shirt off.
In the new series, when California governor Zack Morris (Gosselaar) gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state — including the affluent Bayside High.

The old gang is back together again! A new trailer for Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” offers the first look at Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen reprising their roles of Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski, respectively.
And let’s face it, for much of the audience of this upcoming streaming sitcom, John Michael Higgins’ Principal Ronald Toddman puts it best, “I just care about Zack and Kelly!”
The new trailer, which you can watch above, speaks directly to fans of the original late-1980s/early-1990s Saturday morning series with callbacks such as A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) calling Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley Lauren) “Mama,” as well as spinning a chair around so he can sit down in it backwards. It also shows all four of those original cast members taking the stage for what appears to be a Zack Attack reunion in the style of Zack’s infamous...

Classes will be back in session at Bayside High School in just two months: “Saved by the Bell” is premiering Wednesday, Nov. 25 on Peacock, the streamer announced Tuesday.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, fans of the original Saturday morning sitcom — or just teen comedies in general — will have something for which to be thankful. The new version of the late-1980s/early-1990s NBC series centers on the new millennium’s class and all episodes of the first season are scheduled to drop at once. At the start of the new series, a number of kids from underfunded high school whose doors Governor Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) closed end up at Bayside, giving the privileged preppies that roam those halls a new reality check.

From 1989 to 1992, Saved by the Bell ran on NBC for four seasons (and one College Years season) and became a staple for Saturday mornings before it became a syndicated celebration of the delightfully corny and wholesome adventures of the Bayside High gang. We’re so excited for the “Saved by the Bell” revival and Peacock’s new teaser for the show, which includes Elizabeth Berkley’s Jessie Spano explaining how “exciting” caffeine pills are, has made it so we just can’t hide it.
In the video, which the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service dropped during the show’s virtual summer Ctam panel Monday, Zack Morris’ son, Mac (played by Mitchell Hoog) is offering caffeine pills to fellow Bayside High student Daisy (Haskiri Velazquez) to help “increase” her productivity.
That’s when Jessie, who is now the guidance counselor at her alma mater, jumps over to lecture them about the dangers of caffeine pills, poking fun at one of the most memorable episodes of the original series, in which Jessie gets “addicted” to caffeine pills.

The “Saved by the Bell” revival has found its lead.
Josie Totah, who previously starred in Mindy Kaling’s short-lived “Champions” series at NBC, has been cast to lead the series in the works at Peacock.
The forthcoming NBCU streamer, set to launch in April, announced the revival back in Sept. 2019, along with the news that original series cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley would be reprising their roles in addition to serving as producers.
Here’s the logline for the revival: When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.

Step aside, Mr. Belding, there’s a new principal in town: NBCUniversal’s forthcoming streaming service Peacock has cast “Pitch Perfect” alum John Michael Higgins (pictured below) as the new head of Bayside High in its upcoming “Saved by the Bell” reboot, an individual with knowledge of the casting tells TheWrap.
He’ll be playing Principal Toddman, the successor to Dennis Haskins’ Principal Richard Belding, who was the bane of Zack Morris’ (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) existence in the original “Saved By the Bell,” which ran from 1989 to 1993 on NBC, and its spinoffs.
According to the official description, the “beleaguered” Principal Toddman, “is constantly being pranked by his privileged students and yelled at by their entitled parents. But all this changes when Bayside gets an influx of new, low-income students and Toddman gets a second chance to really make a difference.”

Despite the logline for the “Saved by the Bell” reboot coming to Peacock — NBCUniversal’s newly-named streaming service — revealing that Zack Morris is now the governor of California, nobody told Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
“I have not been approached,” Gosselaar told “Access Hollywood” Tuesday night during an event for ABC’s “Mixed-ish,” on which Gosselaar stars. But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be against stepping back into Morris now-political shoes. “I’ve always said that I would love to do some form of it, but . . . they’ve approached two [Mario and Elizabeth] and not some.”
Original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are slated to reprise their roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano. The “Saved by the Bell” reboot was announced Tuesday morning as part of Peacock, which will launch next April, extensive slate of original programming, which includes reboots of “Battlestar Galactica,” from “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail, and “Punky Brewster.

The Bayside gang is reuniting, but Zack Morris isn’t invited — for the time being, at least.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played the good-looking yet incorrigible Zack in NBC’s beloved “Saved by the Bell” series, said he was never approached to take part in the show’s forthcoming TV sequel, which will reprise roles from Mario Lopez and and Elizabeth Berkley.
“I read it in the trades just like everybody else this morning,” Gosselaar told Variety on the “Mixed-ish” premiere red carpet Monday night. “Honestly, I was never approached. I woke up to the news this morning with a kind of ‘huh’ response.”
Although he said he would definitely consider reprising the lovable character, he does understand why NBC never reached out. Gosselaar now stars in “Mixed-ish” on ABC, which poses competition against NBCUniversal’s newly named streaming service Peacock.
“I’m on ABC, so it doesn’t really fit into that considering Disney Plus,...

The kids of Saved By the Bell are all grown up in NBCUniversal’s revival of the 90s sitcom for its new Peacock streaming service.
Let’s hope that, in the Saved By the Bell reboot being developed for the new Peacock streaming service, Zack Morris is less of a manipulative troublemaker as governor of California than he was as a student at Bayside High. In a series of announcements about the slate of programming being proposed for NBCUniversal’s entry into the subscription television model, Saved By the Bell joins fellow reboots Battlestar Galactica and Punky Brewster along with a host of other new shows and back catalogue from NBC’s vault.
The new Saved By the Bell will feature the grown-up versions of Slater and Jessie as the network has announced that original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley will reprise their roles, but...
