Boris Barnet was invited to direct the movie The Conspiracy of Ambassadors (1966) and already started pre-production, but he unexpectedly committed suicide at age 62 in Riga, USSR [now Latvia]. So the movie was directed by Nikolai Rozantsev.
Trained at the State Film School under Lev Kuleshov and first worked as assistant to Fedor Ozep in 1926. Did his best work as a director between 1928 and 1940, occasionally also appearing in his films.
