- Léon Barsacq was born on October 18, 1906 in Feodosiya, Crimea, Russian Empire [now Ukraine]. He was a production designer and art director, known for The Longest Day (1962), Diabolique (1955) and Beauty and the Devil (1950). He died on December 23, 1969 in Paris, France.

- After training at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, Barsacq worked as an assistant under Andre Andrejew before becoming a fully-qualified art director from 1934. He was noted for his atmospheric sets in films by Jean Renoir and Rene Clair. A book about his craft, Le Decor de Film, was posthumously published in 1970.
