While Joanna Johnson made headlines earlier this year when she publicly came out as a lesbian with a wife and two children, she hasn’t let any of that buzz slow her down in her work as actor, writer and producer in television. She hasn’t been seen too much in front of the camera on CBS’s The Bold and The Beautiful, but she’s been plenty busy behind the camera as a producer on the new CW series, Emily Owens MD, as Co-Executive Producer.

Good morning! I hope you had a nice Labor Day.
The Bold and the Beautiful producer Brad Bell says we'll definitely see more of Karen and Dani, it just depends on Joanna Johnson's schedule over at Emily Owens. M.D.. He told TVGuide:
Joanna will definitely be back, if only for a day or two here and there. And once her schedule backs off a bit I want her back for something meaty. We may not see Karen for the time being but we'll play her as if she's still around and that she and Dani are still a happy couple. [Laughs] I'm not going to have Dani go off and seduce one of our guys.
Thank You Brad Bell.
Here's a great drinking game for you: Take a shot every time the word "Drama" is said on The Real L Word.

And Daytime TV’s biggest twists continue to take place off screen.
The latest news that has soap fans in a lather: Newly minted Daytime Emmy winner Christel Khalil has reportedly been cut from The Young and the Restless, the CBS drama she has called home for 10 years.
The 24-year-old actress’ official website confirmed the ouster, stating, “It is not her decision to leave. An agreement could not be reached during contract negotiations.” Update: A spokesperson for Y&R producer Sony TV tells TVLine that the show — which today is shooting its 10,000th episode — does not comment on contracts, rumors or storyline information.

If you’ve seen this then you know that Joss Whedon can legitimately add “actor” to his writer/producer/director title. Whedon’s next role will be a bit more grounded in reality – he’ll play a sports agent in the second season of “Husbands,” the web series created by Jane Espenson and Brad Bell. Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, August 15.
The “husbands” of the series are Cheeks (an actor, played by Bell) and Brady (a baseball player, played by Sean Hemeon), who wake up married after a wild night in Vegas. During the first season Cheeks and Brady were coming to terms with their very new marriage; season 2 picks up three weeks later.
“The guys have moved into a new house, they've started to settle into the marriage, but everything is still really new. At this point, they've known each other something like two months, so...

Sunday July 15th is the last day of Comic-Con 2012, and most of us will be completely worn out looking like Spider-Man in the image above. Chances are he's asleep under that mask. Sunday has always been a cool down day for us, we kind of just try to relax a little bit more and enjoy it. That doesn't mean their isn't anything to see or do though!
We've got a Fringe screening and Q&A, Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer 20th Anniversary, Sons of Anarchy, the annual Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical screening, and more! I've always wanted to go the Buffy musical sing-a-long, but am usually trying to leave San Diego before it starts.
Just a little reminder, we will be having our annual GeekTyrant meet up this year to meet our readers, which is something we always enjoy doing! That will take place on Wednesday night, and...

According to TV Guide, "Bold and the Beautiful" star Joanna Johnson has become the daytime soap opera world's only "out" actor currently on a series, revealing in an exclusive interview that she's a lesbian.
The 50-year-old Johnson, whose longtime "The Bold and the Beautiful" character Karen has been living a secret life as a lesbian, told the TV magazine she's married to L.A. club promoter Michelle Agnew, with whom she has two children, fi-year-old Julian and Harlow, two.
Johnson told writer Michael Logan that she kept mum on her personal life for so long out of "fear of rejection" as an actress. "I was so worried I wouldn't be employable as an actress if people knew I was a lesbian," she said. "Or that I wouldn't be believable in romance stories. I had to deal with a lot of self-loathing."

Santa Monica, Calif. — A hungry Chris O'Donnell arrived straight from the set of "NCIS: Los Angeles" and polished off a piece of pizza. Joe Mantegna, Dennis Farina and Roger Ebert's wife were craving their favorite Chicago foods, too.
Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts felt right at home, with "Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks resting on a stool and Harry Carey's widow Dutchie standing at the bar.
There was a Midwest feeling in the air Monday night, even if everyone was almost 2,000 miles from the Second City. It was the 25th Windy City West bash, bringing together expatriate Chicagoans from film, television and sports for a taste of home on the West Coast.
"It's unlike any other Hollywood party. People are actually looking each other in the eye and talking," said O'Donnell, who grew up in the Chicago suburb of Winnetka. "There's nobody looking over anyone's shoulder. That's the difference.

When TVLine spoke exclusively with Daytime Emmy winner Hillary B. Smith about her upcoming role on CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful, she could hardly contain her excitement. “I could have gone on that show as a janitor and I would have been happy,” she gushed.
Fortunately, Smith – best known for her lengthy run as Nora Buchanan on the late One Life to Live — joins the CBS soap on March 8 as the far more integral Dr. Stacy Burton, who though not a custodian will still have some messes to clean up — seeing as she is a psychiatrist specializing in sex therapy.

Couples going to Las Vegas and impulsively tying the knot while drunk is a longstanding ritual for both celebrities and civilians.
Now that gay couples can get married, why shouldn't they be part of that tradition? That's the question that writer/performer Brad Bell and television writer/producer Jane Espenson ('Battlestar Galactica,' 'Game of Thrones,' 'Buffy') asked themselves when they were creating 'Husbands,' a web series that premieres Tuesday.
In the 11-episode comedy, Bell and Sean Hemeon play a performer and a newly out major-league baseball player who get married in Vegas, only to wake up with hangovers and the realization that they don't know each other well. Alessandra Torresani, who's best known for playing Zoe Graystone on 'Caprica,' plays their frequently inebriated friend, Haley.

Tw: Miracle Day Episode Five: Categories of Life"
We open with Dr. Vera Juarez. Often when you start with a character, that means the story is told from their perspective... that their arc will carry you from beginning to end. And when she commits to joining our little ragtag team, it sure feels like we're going to be following her transition – from a doctor who weighed in on the panels to a crusader against this redefinition of life and death.
I love this next bit about Gwen meeting Rhys who is disguised as her limo driver. And a passionate husband-wife kiss – you don't see enough of that kind of thing on TV!
You also don't get enough scenes of commando grandmothers with pink-clad babies. How great is Gwen's mother?
Sgt Andy! So many Welsh voices – Gwen, Rhys, Andy! It's like a choir of those beautiful accents. I very much think...

One chaotic round of updates coming up.
Jane Espenson has announced the new project she has been working on with Alessandra Torresani, Brad Bell (Cheeks) and Sean Hemeon, in an interview with CliqueClack. Yes, it's Husbands, a web series about "two guys, a newly dating couple, who celebrate a new marriage equality law in Vegas and wake up married." A couple of snippets from the interview:
Km: What do you hope to become of Husbands in the long run? If it simply stays as a free series on the web, will that satisfy not only you but the actors?
Je: Honestly, I would love to see Husbands turn into a network television show. I’m loving the freedom that we’re enjoying as we put it together ourselves, but there’s something about it that feels so accessible — it’s Ab Fab, Dharma and Greg, Will and Grace … it feels...

The development "that will take our show to a whole new look and level," executive producer Brad Bell tells TV Guide Magazine. And it's about time because, globally, you need to be high-def. It's now expected that you deliver your product that way."

Colleen Bell, L.A. style maven and philanthropist — wed to B&B exec producer Brad Bell — holds the title of Director of Special Projects and is now in charge of giving the soap a major makeover.
"We really need to push the envelope," says Bell. "Brad and I would be watching the show together and I'd see what everyone was wearing and be really bothered by it. B&B should be a benchmark for fashion."
Former soap star Michael Corbett writes another real estate book
"Before You Buy" is Corbett's third book on real estate.
Google Inc. in preliminary talks to buy Hulu
Hulu has begun meeting with potential buyers including Google, Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. to drum up interest in a sale.

The Bold and the Beautiful has finally been forced to call in the police — the fashion police! In fact, it's always seemed a bit behind the times. That's all changing thanks to Colleen Bell. The Bold And The Beautiful writer/producer Brad Bell on the use of CGI
"Absolutely, when we can afford it. There's such great new technology at our fingertips now and, as writers and producers, it really opens our mind to new possibilities. We dream it up and say 'Can you do it?' and the CBS Digital people always say 'Yes!' We're building a great relationship with them. Soaps are no longer just about the bedroom and the living room or the cup of coffee. This even affects us in smaller ways. Now when we shoot in our Insomnia coffee house set we can go out on our green-screen terrace and the viewers will see the real Los Angeles in the background. No more fake backdrops!"

Executive Producer and Head Writer Brad Bell spoke to TVGuide.com about the new Bold And The Beautiful credits debuting on Monday, February 21, saying, "This is pretty monumental for us. We've always taken the if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it approach to our opening credits. The first one was so good we kept it from 1987 until 2004 — unlike a lot of things from the '80s it never seemed dated. Our current one has been running for six and a half years. It's beautiful and still works, but now we want to let viewers know that our show is all about experimenting, not only with our storytelling but with our image. We want to be known as a show that's thinking outside the box."

After Dancing with Chelsie Hightower and playing a bachelor-type on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, erstwhile Bachelor star Jake Pavelka has another TV part on Friday's Bold and the Beautiful. "I play a pilot," Pavelka, who's a commercial pilot in real life, tells People, "and what's ironic about the whole thing is that it's harder to play a pilot than to be a pilot!" Pavelka was offered the role in part because producer Brad Bell flies planes, too. "He's a pilot himself and we had a whole lot in common," says Pavelka, "and I said, 'Absolutely!' It's fun having a part like that.

In these days of crippling budget cuts, it's pretty damn remarkable that The Bold and the Beautiful went down to L.A.'s Skid Row and hired some 25 real-life homeless people to tell their life stories on camera. The sequences, airing October 28-29, are part of a plot that has Beverly Hills matron Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) battling stage 4 lung cancer and using what time she has left to help those who have nothing. The soap's exec producer-head writer Brad Bell, who has hired an additional 30 homeless to appear as extras, swears he won't be dropping this storyline anytime soon. In fact, it'll be an integral part of the show's holiday season. TV Guide Magazine spoke with the B&B boss man about his groundbreaking plot and where it goes from here. ...

The Bold and the Beautiful is famous for its gutsy storylines, and this one's a jaw-dropper. In the cliffhanger of the September 24 episode, control-freak matriarch Stephanie Forrester — played by four-time Emmy winner Susan Flannery — will find out that she has stage 4 lung cancer. Stephanie will stubbornly refuse treatment and decide to keep the dire news from her family, choosing instead to spend her final months checking off items on her bucket list: She'll throw herself a birthday party complete with a Silly Slide, ride the rollicking roller coaster at the Santa Monica pier... that sort of thing. Only Stephanie's archenemy Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) will be privy to the diagnosis — and that's by accident. TV Guide Magazine talked with B&B exec producer-head writer Brad Bell about this startling twist. And of course we hit him with the billion-dollar question — is Susan Flannery exiting the show? ...

Our members might be predominantly gay and bisexual men, but we do have a surprising number of female readers here at AfterElton.com. We value you ladies and feel bad that every year we have to ask you to sit out the Hot 100 voting (for that list we wanted a fair representation of whom gay and bi men find attractive).
To try and make up for it, every year we run a special poll exclusively our female readers, in which we ask them which gay/bi men they find hot.
This year over 12,000 votes were cast for over 600 different nominees. The top fifty appear here.
Without further ado... The 2010 Ladies' Choice Hot 50!
