Trained at the Paris Conservatory, she later joined the Comedie
Francaise.
Was awarded the Legion of Honor by President Charles de Galle for her
valiant work in the French Resistance.
A recognized stage actress and director, in 1958 the Theatre du
Gymnase-Dramatique was renamed in her honor.
Member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 1969
French leading lady in elegant roles in late silent and early talking
films, best known for her classic work in Feyder's Le Grand Jeu" (1934)
and Duvivier's "Un Carnet de Ball" (1937).
