- Beneckendorff took part in radio play productions and since 1953 has appeared mostly in the field of comical old people or nobles in supporting roles in numerous DEFA films and in productions on GDR television .

- With the intention of robbing him, four 19- to 22-year-old men beat Wolf von Beneckendorff on January 27, 1960 in his apartment in Berlin-Adlershof. Beneckendorff suffocated on his broken denture. Only the fact that Beneckendorff did not die of the injuries, but rather choked on his battered dentures, saved the four juvenile criminals from conviction for murder.
