“I guess I just didn’t want them to know me that way, the two-time Oscar winner said during an appearance on The View on Friday (January 19). “I wanted them to know me as their mom and the person who went away to work and stuff. I just didn’t want them to be confused about what I did for a living.”

Acclaimed actress-filmmaker Jodie Foster said that Gen Z can be “really annoying” to work with. The 61-year-old actress is a vocal supporter of the younger generation and does a lot of mentoring, she said she still finds Gen Z, usually referred to as those born between 1997 and 2012, frustrating to work with.
“They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10.30 a.m.’ Or, like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they’re like, ‘Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?'” Foster told The Guardian.
Despite her irritation with some members of Gen Z, Foster has a close relationship with many, including non-binary star Bella Ramsey, 20, who Foster asked to introduce her at the Elle magazine Women in Hollywood celebration.

Jodie Foster knows quite a bit about being a young person carving out a career in Hollywood. After all, the venerable actor-director’s first acting role came when she was age three. Later, she was cast for Taxi Driver at age 12, for which she was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category. So, she has quite a bit of empathy for young people who are coming up in the industry and she offered advice and talked mentorship in a new profile by The Guardian published on Sunday.

Jodie Foster thinks that the dominance of superhero films is a "phase that's lasted a little too long".The Oscar-winning actress explained that she is a fan of some movies in the superhero genre but does not consider any of them to be life-changing.In an interview with Elle magazine, Jodie said: "It's a phase. It's a phase that's lasted a little too long for me, but it's a phase, and I've seen so many different phases."Hopefully people will be sick of it soon. The good ones – like 'Iron Man', 'Black Panther', 'The Matrix' – I marvel at those movies, and I'm swept up in the entertainment of it, but that's not why I became an actor."And those movies don't change my life. Hopefully there'll be room for everything else."However, one picture that has had a lasting impact on Jodie was '...

She can still hear the lambs. More than a quarter-century after playing an FBI agent in The Silence of the Lambs, "I would absolutely like to go back to Clarice Starling," Jodie Foster, 55, said at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards. "Silence was such an extraordinary experience, and she was such an amazing character. It would be great to find out more about who Clarice was as she got older." The big story
You know the score: weird little statuettes, fulsome compliments and a few off-colour jokes, evening gowns and tears, yada yada yada. That's the normal run of things with the Golden Globes. Then Jodie Foster had to go and wreck everything by saying something that actually meant something.
Even though practically everyone on the planet already knew, Foster "came out" by thanking her ex-partner Cydney Bernard as she picked up a lifetime achievement award. Her speech prompted immediate dissection by the digital classes, with both pro and anti positions.
In the kerfuffle, everyone seemed to forget there was an awards ceremony going on, at which the Brits – especially Les Misérables – did rather well.

But after a quick glimpse at the two kids, many Golden Globe viewers went online searching for "Jodie Foster Sons," hoping to find any information about the boys. For years, it has been speculated that the father is the a publicly gay producer Randy Stone, who worked with Foster on "Little Man Tate" and who passed away from heart failure in 2007. Jodie Foster brought some to tears when she spoke of her ailing mother during her revealing Golden Globes speech Sunday night - and, backstage, the actress continued to praise her. "My mom is an amazing inspiration for me," Foster told reporters in the press room after her speech, in which she opened up about her family life with her two sons and ex-partner Cydney Bernard for the first time publicly. "She picked me up from school and took me to see foreign films, sometimes two or three, and she wouldn't let me do my homework because she really wanted me to see movies.

Oh, hey, anything happen at the Golden Globes last night? Yeah, I know. Nothing much. Just two-time Oscar winner and Hollywood icon Jodie Foster coming out of the closet, in her own oblique and privacy championing way, finally. Yeah, so in case you watched one of the 300 reruns of Law & Order airing simultaneously during the telecast instead, oops.
The 70th annual Golden Globes, long notorious as Hollywood’s biggest party, gave us not only Foster’s historic coming out, but two of the funniest women on TV (if not the universe) as co-hosts and lots of other lovely ladies in pretty frocks. Oh, right, and some people won some stuff.
The night opened with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who had walked arm-in-arm down the red carpet with Fey in a gown and Poehler in a black tailored suit (sans...

Jodie Foster not only confirmed she's gay while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards -- she announced she's single.
Though they are no longer together, Foster publicly thanked her former partner and mother to her two sons Charlie and Kit, Cydney Bernard. While many are considering Foster's speech last night to be her official coming out, she's publicly spoken about Bernard before. According to The Wrap, while accepting an award at the Women in Entertainment Breakfast in 2007, the actress thanked "my beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss."
The former couple met on the set of the 1993 film "Sommersby," where Bernard -- now a producer-- was working as a production coordinator.
In 2008, it was reported that the two broke things off, ending their 15-year-relationship.
Foster is very protective of her privacy and has not spoken about the breakup.

No matter how you felt about Jodie Foster’s speech accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday Night’s Golden Globe Awards, you can’t exactly call it boring.

Beverly Hills, Calif. -- Jodie Foster came out without really coming out, and suggested she was retiring from acting without exactly saying so, in a long, breathless and rambling speech at Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards.
Foster took the stage as this year's winner of the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, which had been announced previously. But her acceptance speech was anything but predictable as the veteran actress seized control of what is every year a noisy, boozy ballroom; the crowd of A-listers quickly quieted down as it became apparent that she had something serious and important to say.
The 50-year-old Oscar-winner for "The Silence of the Lambs" and "The Accused," who's been protective of her private life and reluctant to discuss her sexual orientation, was coy at first, suggesting she had a big announcement that would make her publicist nervous (the broadcast audio dropped out at this point,...

Jodie Foster collected the Cecil B DeMille award at this year's Golden Globes. Here is the full transcript of her speech
Well, for all of you SNL fans, I'm 50! I'm 50! You know, I need to do that without this dress on, but you know, maybe later at Trader Vic's, boys and girls. What do you say? I'm 50! You know, I was going to bring my walker tonight but it just didn't go with the cleavage.
Robert [Downey Jr], I want to thank you for everything: for your bat-crazed, rapid-fire brain, the sweet intro. I love you and Susan and I am so grateful that you continually talk me off the ledge when I go on and foam at the mouth and say, "I'm done with acting, I'm done with acting, I'm really done, I'm done, I'm done."

Jodie Foster said it wasn't a "coming out" speech, but after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes ... the legendary actress sort of did just that. In a bizarre, rambling and aggressive speech, Foster told the crowd she was single (*wink, wink) and talked about trying to live a private life ... one which has never involved having her own reality show ... or talking about her sexual orientation. Then, Jodie kinda sorta did an about-face,...

Foster's acceptance speech for receiving the lifetime achievement award was forthright and fascinatingly unconventional
The glass closet is that bit emptier today following Jodie Foster's coming out during the Golden Globes ceremony. Foster's career has been unique and fascinatingly unconventional – a decades-long de facto rebuff to conventional notions of femininity, celebrity and the attitude towards women in Hollywood. And this coming out was utterly in keeping.
And it was a coming out. One would have to be willfully obtuse to doubt the meaning of Foster's remarks at the ceremony, where she received the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award. Her memories of opening up to friends and family and references to Cydney Bernard as "one of the deepest loves of my life, my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but heroic soul sister in life", left little room for doubt.
That said, this was not your standard public coming out.

It's only January 14, but I guarantee that the 2013 Golden Globes will be the best awards show of the entire year. Why? Because the Golden Globes are gloriously useless, and its attendees are aware of that fact. That's why everyone onscreen appears to be having a great, fun time filled with unrehearsed moments. The Golden Globes combine the gaudiness of "Night of 100 Stars" with the hilarious posturing of a student council election. Frankly, we should call them the Pia Zadora's Choice Awards. Respect. Or don't! Both options are completely acceptable and fun.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were your ravishing emcees, and I'd hate to regurgitate what everyone has said (and has been saying) about these deeply, heroically funny women, but whatever: They were flawless. Sharp, gentle, biting, and irreverent, and always at surprising moments. I slapped the wall during the opening monologue (duologue?) when Tina said that Ricky Gervais...

Actress addresses sexuality directly, saying she revealed she was gay 'about a thousand years ago, back in the stone age'
Les Miserables wins three awards at the Golden Globes
Jodie Foster used the 2013 Golden Globes awards to address her sexuality for the first time directly, saying that she had come out to everyone she had met, but regretted that a public declaration in the media was required.
In a wide-ranging and occasionally opaque speech accepting the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award, Foster upstaged even the former president Bill Clinton to deliver the surprise of the night.
After teasing the crowd that she was going to make an announcement "that I'm a little bit nervous about", Foster said: "I'm just gonna put it out there … I'm single."
There was laughter, but the room at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles fell silent as it appeared Foster, 50, had a serious point to make.

The biggest nail biter of the night wasn’t waiting to find out who would take home the Golden Globe for Best Actress or Best Picture. No, it was watching Jodie Foster’s acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award, honoring her incredible 47-year acting career. Seriously, her time on stage had us on the edge of our seat as she flirted with dropping some pretty big bomb shells. Did she just come out officially? Did she just retire from acting? Let us break it down for you.
She first got our attention by teasing us with a big announcement. “I had a sudden urge to say something that I have never really been able to air in public, a declaration that I’m a little nervous about. But I’m just going to put it out there, loud and proud. So, I’m going to need your support on this.

In a rambling, raw and very real acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Hollywood icon Jodie Foster came out. She did it in her own way, obliquely, and as always with a premium placed on her own privacy. Still it was a monumental admission of truth despite nearly everyone knowing (or assuming) it for years now.
The 50-year-old actress/director/two-time Oscar winner came to the stage after a loving roast by her longtime friend and costar Robert Downey Jr., who introduced her acceptance of the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. She started out, nervously, and with a bait-and-switch announcement aimed at her own non-admission of her sexual orientation, coming out and declaring “loud and proud” to the world that “I am single.”
But then things quickly got more personal, while also making yet another plea for her own legendary desire to be private.

On Sunday night at the Golden Globes ceremony, Jodie Foster finally came out of the closet. After accepting the extremely prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, Foster publicly acknowledged her homosexuality for the first time by thanking her former partner.
Her speech did ramble a bit, but the general point of it was that after giving 47 years to the industry, she is entitled to her privacy -- and not interested in living her life in front of the public, reality-show style.
