Distributor picks up Us rights to Ronald Krauss’ Gimme Shelter, starring Vanessa Hudgens.
Ahead of its world premiere at Heartland Film Festival on Oct 17, Roadside Attractions has acquired Us rights to Gimme Shelter.
Ronald Krauss’ drama, which he also produced and wrote, stars Vanessa Hudgens as pregnant 16-year-old runaway Agnes Bailey who seeks salvation in a suburban shelter for homeless teens. The film also stars Brendan Fraser, Rosario Dawson, James Earl Jones and Ann Dowd.
Gimme Shelter is inspired by the true story of Kathy Difiore’s longstanding Several Sources Shelters. Difiore (played by Dowd in the film) worked with Mother Teresa to change the shelter lawas in New Jersey.

Roadside Attractions announced today that is has acquired all U.S. rights to Answers to Nothing, directed by Matthew Leutwyler (The River Why) and starring Dane Cook, and will release the film nationwide on December 2, 2011. Answers to Nothing is a gritty drama of interweaving stories set in Los Angeles against the backdrop of a child kidnapping case.

Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. rights to Hemingway’s Garden of Eden, directed by John Irvin and starring Mena Suvari, Jack Huston, Caterina Murino, Richard E. Grant, Matthew Modine and Carmen Maura. The screenplay was adapted from the Ernest Hemingway book by former Paris Review editor James Scott Linville, and is based on Hemingway’s final novel, a jazz-age set, erotically-charged romance that was published posthumously in 1986. Hemingway’s Garden of Eden was produced for Tranquil Seas by Lorne Thyssen and Timothy J. Lewiston. The acquisition was announced by Roadside Attractions co-presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff and Ian Jessel, president of Tranquil Seas, USA.
“Ernest Hemingway is one of a handful of genius writers whose work leaps from the page to the screen brilliantly,” said Cohen, “and his Garden of Eden is lush and vibrant, in the tradition of other great Hemingway adaptations like The Sun Also Rises.

Described as a romantic dramedy, "Guy" centers on Bledel's character, a Manhattan urban conservationist who falls for a Wall Street operator (Porter).
"This is an entertaining, provocative film about three great subjects: love, money and New York City," Roadside's Howard Cohen said.
The film, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, will be released theatrically in March.
"Guy" was produced by Linda Moran and Rene Bastian of Belladonna Prods. as well as DePietro. Mandate International is handling foreign sales.

Nu Image is boarding a remake of the 1980 horror film Terror Train.
Writer-director Gideon Raff (The Killing Floor) is set to write and director the remake, which Nu Image co-chairman Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort announced Tuesday.
The film will revolve around a group of American college athletes who find themselves on a dangerous train in Europe. The film, to be produced by Boaz Davidson, Danny Lerner and Les Weldon, will shoot in the summer in Bulgaria.
The deal was negotiated by attorney Greg S. Bernstein on behalf of Raff and Lonnie Ramati on behalf of Nu Image.
