You might be wondering where the screen-mom, so splendid in her devotion to her screen sons in films as far-ranging as Mehboob Khan's Mother India, Yash Chopra's Deewaar and Praveen Bhatt's Bhavna has vanished. Well, here's heartwarming news. Producer Karan Johar, who is known to be a pukka Mama's Boy in real life and who paid the maternal icon a befitting homage in his own directorial opus Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, is all set to revive the glorious era of screen moms. In his latest production Brothers, which is a remake of the 2011 Gavin O'Connor directed film about two estranged boxer brothers, Karan has slipped in an additional character of the two heroes' mom. Says a source, "The character of the two heroes' (Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra) mom has been specially written for the adaptation." The very talented Shefali Shah, currently seen rocking the boat as...

With the platform already set by producer Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D in 2011, it looked easy for Karishma Kapoor, who planned her comeback to Hindi cinema after a long hiatus of nine years, to make her return an impressive one. However, Lolo’s fans are going to be everything but entertained in her reincarnation attempt in the world of Bollywood with Bvg Films and Dar Motion Pictures’ Dangerous Ishhq. Seemingly, the fact that this movie stars Karishma who was a hit in the late 90s and the early 2000’s has been taken for granted by the film maker who has turned a blind eye towards the story line.
Produced by Arun Rangachari and directed by Vikram Bhatt, Dangerous Ishhq is a woman centric story (second in a row after Vikram Bhatt’s Hate Story) where the protagonist dies several times during the course of the movie in a bid to get united with her lover.

The sophisticated 3D equipment arrived for the shooting of Vikram Bhatt's Karisma Kapoor starrer Dangerous Ishq, and just in time. But disaster almost struck when part of the equipment seemed difficult to operate. It seems the first full-fledged day of Karisma Kapoor's shooting on Thursday almost didn't happen, all thanks to the ultra-sophisticated 3D equipment that director Vikram Bhatt has imported to shoot Karisma's comeback film Dangerous Ishq. Apparently, a part of the equipment turned out to be unusable. And Vikram nearly had to call off the first day's shooting. Surprisingly, Vikram doesn't deny there was a problem. "The 3D cameras and other equipment that we've imported to shoot Dangerous Ishq are not easy to handle. Equipment like that has never been used for any film in our country before. So it wasn't really a question of the equipment letting us down. It was more about us not being prepared to handle it.

Starring: Rajneesh Duggal, Adah Sharma, Roshni Chopra
Directed by Girish Dhamija
The best performance in this pretty but listless supernatural thriller comes from the film’s producer Vikram Bhatt who plays a sinister extortionist’s voice on the telephone. We never see the character. But it remains the single-most expressive performance in a film suffused with deadpan performers who seem to have traveled all the way to the idyllic British countryside for a vacation.
But then they decided to make a quick thriller to supplement their holiday expenses.
The film exudes a kind of stock-slickness…The rugged castles and the verdant outdoors are well shot. The plot ? Ah…now that is another story…Rajneesh Duggal (know him?) has two lives to portray. He does the needful with the expertise of a trapeze artiste with a sprained ankle. The trip, as they say, is pre-destined.
Adah Sharma’s hair and caps...

Notice how Shabana Azmi’s bonding with her screen daughters has always been special. Not so much with her screen sons. Though she was par excellence in her bonding with little Makarand Shukla in Pravin Bhatt’s Bhavna and with Navin Chaudhary in John Schlesinger’s Madame Sousatzka, and though Shabana has expressed a desire to adopt Smita Patil’s son Prateik on screen it’s the screen-daughters with whom Shabana has bonded the most.
Konkona Sen Sharma who played Shabana’s daughter in her childhood in Picnic has been godmothered by Shabana ever since. Urmila Matondkar who played Shabana’s.
