A fun piece of trivia: the "Star Wars" character Boba Fett, prior to his inclusion in "The Star Wars Holiday Special" -- which didn't air until November 17, 1978 -- made a live appearance in a parade in the San Anselmo County Fair the previous September. The parade may have been before the character had been given a name, and "Star Wars" fans were tantalized to see a new, mysterious figure walking down the street next to Darth Vader. It was the first appearance of Boba Fett.
The stoic, faceless, and largely mute character, because of his cool helmet, became a fan favorite over the years, and Boba Fett's importance has grown since 1978 to the point where he got his own TV series. Boba Fett has been played by many actors over the years. In "Empire" and in "Return of the Jedi," Jeremy Bulloch wore the suit, while Jason Wingreen played his voice.

Family and friends of late MythBusters host Grant Imahara have established a foundation in his name to inspire and empower underserved youth to become active in science, technology, engineering, art and math.
The Grant Imahara Steam Foundation was officially announced Friday during a public online celebration of Grant’s life, on what would have been his 50th birthday. The nonprofit foundation will continue his legacy through mentorships, grants and scholarships designed to provide access to Steam education to all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, race or gender.
“There are many students, like my son Grant, who need the balance of the technical and the creative, and this is what Steam is all about,” said Carolyn Imahara, Grant’s mother and foundation co-founder. “I’m so proud of my son’s career, but I’m equally proud of the work he did mentoring students. He would be thrilled that we plan to continue this,...

Who knew that the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter was really just Bob from accounting? This behind-the-scenes photo shows an unmasked Boba Fett lounging between takes with some of the exotic ladies in Jabba the Hutt’s palace. It should be noted that this is Don Bies – who only donned the iconic mask for a few scenes in the 1997 special edition release. The rest of the scenes featuring Fett have Jeremy Bulloch under the costume. Still, this is pretty great – and you can kill an entire afternoon writing wacky pickup-line captions for this photo. When you’re done chuckling, you can then spend an hour watching this excellent documentary From Star Wars to Return of the Jedi, which chronicles Lucas’ efforts to make the original trilogy. The...

Here's a behind the scenes photo from the set of Star Wars: Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi featuring Boba Fett without his helmet. The photo has completely ruined my vision of what Fett actually looks like under the helmet. He is the least badass person they could have gotten to put on that costume. I'm not really sure, but there's a chance that that could be Frank Oz. I included another behind the scenes shot from the same movie below. I don't think it is, and I couldn't find any information that Oz ever stood in as Boba Fett. All I know is that now, every time I see Boba Fett I'm going to think that of that face behind the mask. Thanks to Kristian Odland for the tip!

With Star Wars VII seemingly lost in a galaxy far, far away, the series' producers are holding fans' interest on what may be the final frontier: Instagram. In the months since Darth Vader posted his first selfie, the galactic franchise's account has been posting a steady mix of iconic portraiture and behind-the-scenes glimpses at how all six of the existing movies were made.
