Jason Flemyng and Kris Marshall are also on the cast.

Though each illuminating British TV across the past three decades, brothers Craig and Dean Lennox Kelly hadn’t acted alongside one another before on screen, until now. The Lancashire born siblings, known for their work on the likes of Queer As Folk and Shameless, respectively, both excel in this gritty and suspenseful British thriller, that examines just what lengths we’d go to in the name of family.
Craig Kelly plays Greg, a new father, he’s worn-out, fed-up and in need of excitement in his life. Though he couldn’t quite have anticipated it coming in the form of a visit from his brother Dan (Dean Lennox Kelly) in the middle of the night with nothing but a frantic expression on his face, and a body in the boot of his car. The pair set off into the night, as Greg ponders whether a lifetime changing nappies may just be preferable after-all.

There is a long-held belief that mirrors act as gateways to another dimension. Some also believe the looking glass plays host to a world filled with evil spirits. Such superstition has been the basis for ancient folklore legends about haunting and possession; and one tale about a supposedly haunted mirror was picked up by the media in 2012. Both the Daily Mail and Huffington Post reported on how the owners of a recently purchased antique mirror left them dogged by bad luck, financial misery, strange sightings and death-defying illness. The Mirror is apparently inspired by that story…

★★☆☆☆It's films like The Mirror (2014) which make one despair about the current state of films in general, and more specifically those which try to pass themselves off as horror. This new chiller by British writer and director Edward Boase has all the finesse of an amateur dramatics production without any of the appeal which allows you to overlook the shortcomings of such enterprises. In order to enter a one million dollar competition to prove the existence of paranormal activity, a group of three friends - Jemma (I Spit on Your Grave 2's Jemma Dallender), Matt (Joshua Dickinson) and Steve (Nate Fallows) - buy a reputedly haunted mirror on eBay, and set out to record their studies of it.

Director: Edward Boase.
Writer: James Walker.
Blooded is a faux documentary styled thriller in the vein of The Blair Witch Project, Atrocious and others. This title was released exclusively in the United Kingdom with first time feature filmmaker Edward Boase at the helm. Blooded covers fox hunting in England, which is still one part tradition and another part controversy. The silly scripted interviews break up much of the tension in the reenacted central story line. And, sadly, this film is not even brave enough to pick a side in the controversy.
Five friends head up to the Isle of Mull to get away from it all. Lucas (Nick Ashdon, Neil McDermott), the protagonist, is a fox hunter and an advocate for this sport. He has his eye on Liv (Cicely Tennant, Isabella Calthorpe) for marriage, but he also has some hounds nipping at his heels. The local anti-hunting league has...

Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright. 93 mins.
After cult hit Moon, Jones goes for the mainstream with a conceptual thriller that makes Christopher Nolan look soulless but would have Hitchcock scratching his head. The Deja Vu-meets-Groundhog Day plot forces Gyllenhaal's GI to relive the last eight minutes of a train bombing over and over till he finds the terrorist (experimental technology – don't ask). That shouldn't leave much time for relationships, big questions or light relief but it's all squeezed in, just about…

First-time feature filmmakers director Edward Boase and screenwriter James Walker want you know right off the bat that Blooded is not a “mockumentary”... even though it is: that is to say, they are unquestionably telling a fictional story in a format that is often used to tell a nonfiction story. I think the point they’re making by denying the mockumentary label is that they have no intention of trying to fool you into wondering whether their story is actually true. It isn’t true, not at all... but the expansive documentary format -- complete with “reenactments” of “real” events -- lends a powerful urgency and immediacy and relevance to their invented story in a way that a more narrative structure would have missed. For Blooded is about more than just the horror-movie events it portrays: it’s about how the rise of amateur video and the Internet have collided...

A remote island, the hunters becoming the hunted, suffering psychical and mental torture at the hands of a masked enemy – sounds like a Hollywood script right? If even half the events that take place in Blooded, the directorial feature of Edward Boase are true it is certainly an extraordinary story. Unfortunate then that the film is a rather drab affair, never finding it’s feet as either documentary or drama.
In 2005 five friends went deer stalking on the beautiful but remote Isle of Mull. One of those individuals was Lucas Bell, the face of the pro-Fox Hunting campaign in Britain, along with his best friend and hunting buddy Ben, ex-girlfriend Liv, his estranged brother Charlie and his girlfriend Eve. When the five awake, alone and naked in the freezing cold wilderness their hunting holiday quickly turned into a deadly game of cat and mouse between them...
