Oscar nominees and presenters, as well as Hollywood power players, supported the Motion Picture & Television Fund at its 22nd annual benefit dubbed “Night Before,” which raised more than $4.3 million on Saturday night.
The exclusive event was co-chaired by Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathé, America Ferrera and Ryan Piers-Williams, Jodie Foster and Paul Giamatti.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support industry members and their families who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, such as financial assistance, crisis counseling, caregiving support and residency on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, which now serves as “home” to many television and film veterans.
This year’s presenting sponsors were City National Bank, Delta Air Lines, L’Oreal USA, Penske Media Corporation (owner of The Hollywood Reporter) and UCLA Health with support from Diamond Sponsors, Dolby, Fox and IATSE.

Was it a comedy? Was it a drama? Was it a soap opera? Let’s celebrate the 15th anniversary of the classic TV series “Desperate Housewives”!
In the Fall of 2004, creator Marc Cherry introduced us to the residents of Wisteria Lane. “Dh” begins with the mysterious suicide of resident Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong), and her group of friends wondering how they could not know their close friend was so desperate. Over eight seasons, Mary Alice narrates the ups and downs of her former neighbors from beyond her grave. Through flashbacks and a five-year flash forward between seasons four and five, we follow the nearly 20-year friendship and adventures of Mary Alice’s poker buddies: klutzy divorcee with a heart of gold Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) and her pursuit of the perfect mate; control-freak, frazzled wife and mother of four (later five) Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) and her efforts to...

Josh Henderson is heating up this Thursday morning! The actor is the star of E!'s new scripted series The Arrangement, which premiers on March 5. But before landing the lead on this show, Josh had already been a part of some iconic TV series and movies. Remember when he was on Desperate Housewives? That's right, back in 2006 Josh played Austin McCann on the ABC series, the nephew of Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan). When Josh's character first got to town, he fell for Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen) and we found the first scenes with them together (which feature a shirtless Josh!). So in celebration of Throwback Thursday, take a trip down memory lane to see Josh's shirtless Desperate Housewives...

To mark the release of G.B.F. on 14th April, we’ve been given a signed copy of the Blu-ray and a signed quad poster to give away to one winner, with two runner ups receiving a copy of the Blu-ray.
Meet Tanner and Brent. They are two gay best friends. Brent longs for the spotlight and believes that coming out will make him instantly popular as North Gateway High’s very first G.B.F. (or Gay Best Friend). Tanner on the other hand, would rather fly under the radar and finish high school without ever being noticed.
When things don’t go according to plan and Tanner is outed instead of Brent, the two boys go from B.F.Fs to instant frenemies. Enter the three most popular girls in school — queen-of-mean bombshell Fawcett, drama club diva Caprice, and sweet, Mormon good-girl ‘Shley, who launch an all-out social war to win Tanner’s friendship.

Chicago – In November of 2013, the 31st annual Chicago Lgbt International Film Festival, also known as “Reeling31,” provided a week long showcase for gay filmmakers. There were many new voices in the mix, and they were on the Red Carpet on opening night of the Fest.
HollywoodChicago.com was on the scene, which took place at the historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago. The stars of the opening night feature film. “G.B.F,” were there for interviews and photos, plus filmmakers and actors from the films “Burning Blue,” “The Happy Sad’ and “Truth” – which were shown throughout the week – also walked the fabled Red Carpet.
The “Reeling” Festival is currently sponsoring a free film series in Chicago, the fourth annual “Cinema Q.” The last week of the series will present “De-Lovely” (2004) – starring Kevin Kline as Cole Porter – on March 26th, 6:30pm, at Chicago’s Cultural Center, 78 East Washington Street.

Darren Stein’s sparkling comedy G.B.F. is one of those typical American high-school set productions where every character looks like they’re more likely to be picking up their own children from school, rather than actually study there. Nonetheless, this merely sets the precedence for a picture that requires a suspension of disbelief in order to enjoy, in what is a glitzy and ultimately superficial affair – though that’s not to say it’s not rather good fun.
Michael J. Willet plays Tanner, a young, gay student reluctant to come out of the closet, in spite of his best friend Brent’s (Paul Iacono) best efforts to persuade him otherwise. In a rare lapse of concentration, Tanner is accidentally outed, and though expecting a backlash of sorts, instead he becomes one of the most popular guys in school, as the coolest girls, consisting of the likes of Caprice (Xosha Roquemore...

Gbf (aka Gay Best Friend) has unveiled its new trailer exclusively through Digital Spy.
The upcoming high school movie stars Michael J Willett and Paul Iacono as gay best friends Tanner and Brent at North Gateway High.
While Brent wants to capture the spotlight by coming out, Tanner wants to remain under the radar. However, Tanner is outed instead of Brent, becoming the must-have teen accessory of Gbf, and losing his friendship with Brent.
Pretty Little Liars actress Sasha Pieterse stars as mean girl Fawcett, who battles it out against Shley (Andrea Bowen) and Caprice (Xosha Roquemore) to claim their own Gbf.
Megan Mullally, JoJo, Natasha Lyonne and Harry Potter's Evanna Lynch also star in the comedy.
Gbf is released via Peccadillo Pictures on March 21 in cinemas and on demand followed by a DVD & Blu-ray release on April 7.

Sharp satire cutting through the sweet silliness makes this a refreshing change of pace for teen comedies. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

In a school where the three reigning popular girls — each hoping to become prom queen — are like “warlords” operating under an uneasy truce, the latest, hippest weapon for dominance is the G.B.F.: the gay best friend. Problem is, in North Gate High doesn’t have any “’mo’s”… or does it? When geeky Tanner (Michael J. Ahead of its theatrical release, G.B.F. has shared an exclusive clip with VH1. The movie tells the story of two closeted best friends Tanner, (Michael J. Willett, United States Of Tara) and Brent (Paul Iacono,The Hard Times Of R.J. Berger). While Brent longs for popularity, it’s Tanner who catches the school’s attention when he is accidentally outed. Soon the three most popular girls in school fight to land Tanner as their gay best friend. In the clip above, Tanner unites the queen bees (Sasha Pieterse, Pretty Little Liars; Xosha Roquemore, Precious; and Andrea Bowen, Desperate Housewives) in a “reveal” that recalls the iconic entrance from Jawbreaker.

G.B.F., a cunning new comedy from Jawbreaker director Darren Stein, is a minor high-school flick, but also an inherently modern one. It is bolstered by a refreshing premise and a sharp cast who overcome some of the absurdity and clutter in George Northy’s debut script. The acronym of the title stands for “gay best friend,” which leads the viewer to expect a depiction of contemporary high-school drama that could be too hip or condescending. As it turns out though, G.B.F. is neither, instead, it’s merely happy to embrace its gay-positive values and is just smart enough to make us laugh at some of the stereotypes it skewers.
The film’s plot, if anything, depends on the trendsetters. As gay protagonist Tanner (Michael J. Willett) tells the audience, there is something about being first in high school. It turns out that Tanner’s first is, to him, an embarrassing...

Gay high school fantasia G.B.F. starts the way every teen movie should: with the image of a panda puking up a rainbow.
Sure, it’s a snappy, meme-y graphic that speaks directly to the film’s target audience (hip, animal-video-obsessed, neon-emblazed Top Shop addicts) but it also stands as a great metaphor for the film’s message: sometimes being a mascot – for a cause, a school, or a line of breakfast cereals – can be enough to make you vomit Roy G. Biv. Darren Stein‘s G.B.F. is a comedy for everyone who has ever felt that the Pride flag they’ve been waving happily in the wind has just wrapped itself around their throat and is starting to cut off the air supply.

(Gay Best Friend), Indiewire has been given an exclusive first look at the latest stills and movie poster for director Darren Stein and writer George Northy's comedy. "G.B.F." tells the social warfare story of what happens when "three high school clique queens battle for supremacy: drama diva Caprice (Xosha Roquemore), Mormon princess ‘Shley (Andrea Bowen) and blonde fashionista Fawcett (Sasha Pieterse). When unassuming Tanner (Michael J. Willet) is outted, he finds himself cast as the hottest new teen-girl accessory: The Gay Best Friend. The clique queens immediately pounce and makeover Tanner into their ideal arm candy, forcing him to choose between popularity and the true friends — including his own B.F.F. Brent (Paul Iacono) — that he's leaving behind." In addition to its November 22 DirecTV release, "G.B.F" is set for a January 17 2014 theatrical release. Checkout the movie poster and.

Tanner (Michael J. Willett) is the Gbf everyone wants (including Sasha Pieterse)
In the fine tradition of teen comedies like Clueless, Pretty In Pink, Mean Girls and even darker films like the original Carrie, comes the new film, G.B.F., which fabulously dives into the world of the Gay Best Friend. Directed by Darren Stein (Jawbreaker) from a script by George Northy, the film follows high schooler Tanner (Michael J. Willett) as he navigates the treacherous waters of high school after coming out.
In the world of G.B.F., there’s less opposition to Tanner being gay than the comedy found in how people want to be close to the cute gay guy. The popular girls compete for Tanner’s friendship, even helping him with a makeover; at least one closeted guy (the Bf of one of the girls) makes a pass at him and, at the end of the day, he...

Reflecting on the theme of struggling to fit in from his last feature film, the dark high school comedy Jawbreakers, director Darren Stein once again explored the heightened adolescent need to be accepted in his new movie, G.B.F. The contemporary teen comedy had its world premiere during the Tribeca Film Festival on April 19 at New York City’s Clearview Cinemas Chelsea. The filmmaker and several of G.B.F.‘s stars attended the red carpet before the screening to discuss the process of filming the comedy.
G.B.F. tells the story of two closeted best friends, Tanner (Michael J. Willett) and Brent (Paul Iacono), as they try to navigate high school. Brent longs to be the G.B.F, or gay best friend, of the popular girls in school, so that he can finally have the spotlight. Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the two-hour Desperate Housewives series finale and intend to, stop reading now. If you haven’t seen it but want to know how it ended, continue. We break it down below.

As Bree goes on trial for Alejandro's murder, the housewives face some of the toughest decisions of their lives. On the May 6 episode of Desperate Housewives, the women of Wisteria Lane got served a dose of reality -- but one housewife didn't want to eat it. While Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Julia (Andrea Bowen) were getting ready for the baby, Porter (Charlie Carver) was working overtime to earn a little extra money and shirking his baby daddy responsibilities. Susan reassured her Porter would step up when the baby was born, but Julie worried everything was falling apart. After confronting Porter at the fast food restaurant where he works, Susan realized he needs to sort out his own life before he can look after someone else's. Not wanting Julie to give up on her education, Susan decided to move to be closer to Julie and help her raise the baby. Meanwhile,...

Grab a tissue because the "Desperate Housewives" series finale promises to be chock full of touching moments. In a new behind the scenes report from TV Guide Magazine, the ladies of "Desperate Housewives" revealed there were many, many tears once they began work on the series finale.
The cast received the scripts over the weekend of April 13 and at the first table read, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
"It was a crying fest," Eva Longoria told TV Guide Magazine. "Brenda [Strong, who plays Mary Alice] couldn't get through her voice-overs. I couldn't get through my dialogue."
After the table read, Felicity Huffman said she, Longoria and Marcia Cross spent close to an hour together, "crying, hugging and reminiscing." (Teri Hatcher was at an ABC event.)
"It was a sweet, private moment for us," Cross said.
How does it all end? ABC has kept the details on lockdown, but we do know familiar...

Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and other "Desperate Housewives" cast members got together for one last block party BBQ on Wisteria Lane Saturday night (April 21). While the occasion was a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis, the looming series finale hung heavy in the otherwise jubilant air.
The iconic neighborhood set at Universal Studios was set up for a block party and concert, and several "Dh" homes were open for guests and stars alike. But all the talk on the red carpet was about the past eight years on set -- and this week, which will mark the last few days of filming for each of the "Housewives."
"He's still alive! He's not dead!" exclaimed Hatcher, as she hugged her recently-deceased onscreen husband James Denton (who played Mike Delfino). Denton was on hand at the event to perform with The Band from TV, and it was his first time back on the set since his character's death.

The stalking, the letters, the murder -- Bree knows about everything! The March 4 episode of Desperate Housewives felt a little like a filler -- especially after the juicy developments we got during February sweeps -- until Bree (Marcia Cross) paid a visit to Orson's (Kyle MacLachlan) apartment and learned the truth. About everything. The revelation led to a fiery confrontation, in which Bree told Orson he meant "nothing" to her. Am I the only one who thinks that wasn't too smart? Hell hath no fury like a wheelchair-bound psychopath scorned. And what do you know? He placed a chilling phone call to Bree at the end of the episode, threatening to suicide, just before he sent proof of the ladies' murder cover-up to the police! (How are they going to avoid jail now?) Meanwhile, Susan (Teri Hatcher) and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) continued to feud over Julie (Andrea Bowen) and Porter's...

Desperate Housewives Finale Returns Familiar Faces
Now that Desperate Housewives is officially in its final season, it gets to go through a tried and true tradition of a series reaching its conclusion: bringing back familiar faces. The fun of watching this season unfold is seeing in what ways past castmembers are brought back in to the current storylines, and discovering exactly who will be returning to Wisteria Lane. Recently, it was announced three past castmembers would return for certain. Any guesses who they might be?
TVLine reported Dana Delaney (Katherine), Kyle MacLachlan (Orson) and Andrea Bowen (Julie) would all be back for Desperate Housewives‘ eighth season. There has yet to be any word of exactly when we can expect each of them to pop back in for their last hurrahs, but just knowing they will be back should be enough for the time being.
