From the tip of his pompadour to the heels of his boots there is no mistaking Dandy for a serious man. His adventures include hunting for galactic ramen, brokering peace between clothing-obsessed aliens and participating in a high school musical. So it comes as a surprise that the eleventh episode of Space Dandy , the show that bears his name, is quite serious indeed. It begins with Dandy holding a box he can’t remember acquiring. When his boss Scarlet opens it by mistake, the world turns red and then monochrome. Inside the box is a mysterious book. That’s just the start. “I’m Never Remembering You, Baby” is one of the most unsettling episodes in the series. It portrays Dandy as not foolish but unreliable and vulnerable as well. He travels to a planet that substitutes the show’s typical bright colors for crumbling charcoal architecture. Meanwhile, Dandy’s archnemesis,...

Across the UK, the department has today (March 23) announced £33.5m in funding to protect more than 80 projects. Filmhouse has been awarded £1.54m.

I often lambast the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the "same old, same old" feeling of its movies and television — so I feel a little hypocritical calling the revival series "Daredevil: Born Again" my most anticipated Marvel project.
"Daredevil" ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015-2018, but was canceled afterward. Like its sister shows, it was a casualty of Marvel and Netflix decoupling from their creative partnership. However, since it was the most consistently acclaimed of the Marvel/Netflix shows and the title character has the biggest built-in audience, "Daredevil" will be born again on Disney+.
As for why I'm excited? "Daredevil" was counterprogramming to the quippy fluff of the MCU movies, with a darker tone and more violence. Plus, what can I say, I'm a fan of the character. If you aren't familiar, Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer blessed with enhanced senses to compensate. At night, he patrols...

The new directors for Marvel Studios' upcoming Daredevil: Born Again show on Disney+ will mark an exciting milestone in MCU history with the reboot.
Initially set to be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Clark Johnson, and David Boyd, Charlie Cox was confirmed to get his own Daredevil solo series as he reunites with fan-favorite MCU villain Kingpin, played by Vincent D'Onofrio.
But at the moment, the reboot is going through some major behind-the-scenes issues while the crew waits to get back to work, with Marvel even firing Daredevil: Born Again's writing team as the story is set to undergo a huge overhaul.

Tortoise Media is to launch its latest podcast series, Three doors down, a five-part series telling the story of Sharon Henderson’s 30 year campaign for justice after the brutal murder of her seven-year-old daughter.
In May this year, in Newcastle Crown Court, David Boyd was handed a life sentence for the murder of seven year-old Nikki Allan in 1992.
Outside court, Nikki's mother Sharon Henderson called for a public inquiry into why it had taken the police nearly 30 years to find her daughter’s murderer.
David Boyd was a convicted child sex offender who lived three doors down from the place where Nikki first went missing.
When Nikki was murdered, Sharon Henderson was a single mother of four living in Wear Garth, a rundown estate in the East End of Sunderland. David Boyd lived a few floors above Sharon in the same block. He was known to the police. In 1986 Boyd...

Apple canceled its freshman series, Dear Edward, after one season.
The Jason Katims-produced series based on the novel of the same name from Ann Napolitano, tells the story of Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien), a 12-year-old boy who survives a devastating commercial plane crash that kills every other passenger on the flight, including his family. As Edward and a diverse ensemble of others affected by the tragedy try to make sense of life after the crash, unexpected friendships, romances and communities are formed.
Dear Edward is described as a heartbreaking, life-affirming, and uplifting story about survival, resilience, connection, and the examination of what makes us human. Hailing from Apple Studios, Dear Edward is written by Katims, who serves as showrunner. He executive produces through True Jack Productions alongside Jeni Mulein. The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 21
Robert Frost wrote in his poem “The Road Not Taken” about two roads diverging in a yellow wood. while the wood Carol and Daryl are walking through in “Diverged” are green, not yellow, the principle is the same. Two long-time friends slowly growing apart, faced with a literal diverging path in the woods. Daryl heads one way; Carol goes another with Dog at her side. As a metaphor, it’s smack-dab on the nose, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing when both characters are intensely aware of just what’s taking place between them. They’ve walked side-by-side through hell together, but at a certain point, every journey together ends on The Walking Dead.
That’s the heaviness hanging over a pretty neatly bisected episode following Carol (Melissa McBride) down one path and Daryl (Norman Reedus) down the other.

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 18
As far as episodes of The Walking Dead go, “Home Sweet Home” will not be considered one of the brighter lights of the vastly improved season 10, thought it was very far from the nadir of the series. This show has been better and it has also been much worse. Overall, The Walking Dead is trending up under the direction of show runner Angela Kang, thanks to a focus on improved writing over twists, spectacle, and cliffhangers on a show that has never needed them. Generally, that has paid off, and no episode exemplifies that new focus more than “Find Me” does this week.
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) has become the heart of The Walking Dead, and fans are always going to want more of him, especially when he pairs off with his platonic soul mate Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride...

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 17
The Walking Dead is not a show that can be described as “free from issues.” Since the very first season, the series has made a habit of introducing a group, only for that group to self-destruct, disappear, or die, either on screen in the case of the prisoners from season three’s West Georgia Correctional Facility, or off-screen in the case of the eponymous Vatos from season one’s “Vatos.” A group shows up, and typically, they die in short order. Maggie’s group of hardened survivor pals is no different. A few will stick around, but for the most part, most of them are just waiting to go from their first appearance on screen.
Of course, as it usually it, it’s in service of a bigger, badder enemy. This one seems to have it out personally...

Away has been promptly grounded by Netflix after just one season, coldly cutting short Hilary Swank’s onscreen mission to Mars.
Netflix’s cancelation of Away, confirmed by the major trades, arrives less than two months after the 10-episode season hit the platform back on September 4. While the series was purportedly generating high viewership, and spent several weeks on Nielsen’s recently introduced streaming top 10 ranking (on which it peaked at #2), the reason for the cancelation—and its abruptness—has been attributed to being on the wrong side of cost vs. audience analyses.
Nevertheless, Away has become the latest high-profile casualty of ongoing cost-cutting measures implemented by Netflix. While said measures may have commenced before the pandemic in the face of an evolving bottom line, they have certainly increased with efficiency due to the resulting production obstacles. Indeed, the series now joins a list of recent cancelations such as celebrated...

Hilary Swank is headed to Mars—by way of Netflix in the upcoming television series, Away.
The two-time Best Lead Actress Oscar winner—Boys Don’t Cry in 2000 and Million Dollar Baby in 2005—is headlining a space series from the streaming giant that’s more grounded than its other such offerings like, for example, Lost in Space or Another Life. Indeed, Swank stars in this 10-episode drama series as an American astronaut who reluctantly leaves her family behind for the perilous task of leading Nasa’s first manned mission to Mars.
Interestingly enough, the series is loosely inspired by real-life events, based on an article published in Esquire about a mission of astronaut Scott Kelly.
With that said, check out the first trailer for Netflix’s Away just below.
As the official logline for Away further explains of the plot:

Alternative band New Politics ended its hiatus with a buoyant new single, “Comeback Kid,” a song about finding the strength in hard times. “You can knock me out/You can hold me down/I’m a comeback kid,” lead singer David Boyd triumphantly sings in the chorus. “Ain’t no rest for the wicked.”
“Writing ‘Comeback Kid’ couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for us,” said Boyd in a statement. “I feel the message of the song might not be anything new, it’s something we’ve all heard before.

The Walking Dead creates drama out of insecurity, and connects characters based on their shared trauma in “Omega.”
This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 10
Losing the Grimes family might be the best thing to happen to The Walking Dead since Frank Darabont. The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 10 depends a great deal on two characters that wouldn't have been featured otherwise in Daryl Dixon and Henry.
Given the unique back story of those characters versus the relatively more sedate lives of Rick and Carl, what works in this week's episode featuring the two of them—and Tara for that matter—wouldn't work in the steady, sure hands of the traditional Ricktatorship.
There's an insecurity to things now. Tara doesn't know the right thing to do immediately, like Rick or Maggie would have. When faced with the choice between going after the missing Luke and Alden...

“The Walking Dead” season nine continues on Sunday, February 17th at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt. On the all-new episode, “Omega,” a new arrival at the Hilltop opens up about the leader of a group of mask-wearing savages who call themselves The Whisperers. A search party sets out on a daring mission to find two missing friends. The episode is written by Channing Powell and directed by David Boyd.
The second half of “The Walking Dead” Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought.
