Bright met his writing partner, Kubec Glasmon, at the drugstore where
Bright worked as a soda jerk. Glasmon owned the drugstore, which was a
hangout for many of Chicago's most notorious gangsters. It was there
Bright met Al Capone. Bright was present at a banquet at Chicago's
Commonwealth Hotel when Capone ordered the murder of two attending
Mafiosi who had displeased him. The men were immediately beaten to
death with baseball bats in front of Bright, an incident later
dramatized in Brian DePalma's "The Untouchables."
