We all watched as “so so” died this past season and the zombies did that thing they did and the folks of the Walking Dead stayed on the farm… for… ever… What did you think of the Walking Dead Season 2? The Internet is absolutely exploding with everything from Siskel and Ebert level criticism to whiny social networkers trying to play Hollywood directors to the folks who might as well be the tattle talers in grade school for the rest of their natural born lives (Those are the spoiler posters). Well there’s only one opinion (really three separate opinions fused to form one) you need to listen to if you want to get eaten alive by the Walking Dead all over again. Jeff Konopka, Shawn Savage and Ted Brown dish on the brains you love to eat.

I strongly encourage you to check out this edition of Dead Air and it’s not because I do the write ups for the darn thing. Truth be told, this is one of the funniest episodes yet with more than just your daily fill of news, movies watch list and in depth analysis of an independent genre movie. We’re talking about Jesse Bartel and Ted Brown creating some truly entertaining audio alongside our man in the great north, Jeff Konopka. Let’s get into some of the menu items on this week’s edition so you know that I’m not fibbing.
Obviously the crew will be discussing at great length the new feature from IFC Films, Atm. You have three guys with three very different opinions who will jockey for supremacy and try to get convince you that there side of the story is correct. That’s a menage a trois of opinions.

2011 Bitches!
2011 was a strange year for horror films. It was not a bad year per se, but there were not that many large theatrical releases for the genre. It seems that we are coming to a transitional period; Hollywood is not taking that many chances on horror films these days and will not sponsor long theatrical runs in fear of losing money. This was still true some years ago and it gave birth to the Direct-to-dvd films, which were usually lacking in some way and never did many people favors. With the dawn of digital rental services, studios now can invest in distributing their films through On Demand or Vudu. With this new system of distribution, high quality films are able to be streamed into your home. This is particularly beneficial if you live far from a city that runs limited-release films. We are now living in an age where...

Hey there, fellow horror fanatics! This week we are getting a decent assortment of Blus that will keep you entertained. Hopefully you can pull yourself away from Batman: Arkham City long enough to enjoy some of the titles coming out. I don’t blame you if you are unable to though, from what I hear, that game is the Shit!
Batman: Year One
I’m a sucker for animated films based on comics. Specifically I am a sucker for DC, they are more character driven then say Marvel. Dark Horse is good as well, but I am getting off topic. Like most of these films, it’s built off the fiction of past graphic novels/series. Frank Miller wrote the original series, which I have read and find sophisticated in it’s themes. I need to see this, as do you!
Cape Fear
Finally! I feel like this film should have been released awhile ago,...

The entity that is the werewolf film needs an enema. A while back, around the release date of one of the new Twilight films, Ted Brown and myself composed a list of 30 vampire and werewolf films we felt people should watch, instead of wasting money on the Twilight franchise. To a genre fan, this sounds simple, right? Well, compiling vampire films worth watching was no trouble. But, when we got to the werewolf section of the article, it was hard enough to find 15 werewolf films in general, let alone 15 werewolf films that were actually good. I’m not sure what it is about this particular sub-genre that causes filmmakers to steer clear. It’s clearly a theme that interest horror movie fans, and even the casual viewer. Is it the trouble you have to go through to create a good looking creature? Is it the effects heavy nature of the project it’s self?...

For the month of August, the tail end of summer-movies (big budget blockbusters) is playing in theaters and the last bit of films that were released in the middle of the year are getting a Blu Ray/DVD treatment. All in all summer is a bad time for movie lovers but there are still some solid Blus and DVDs coming out this month (along with some terrible ones).
Stake Land: Aug. 2nd
I’m really looking forward to watching this; I actually pre-ordered it a few weeks ago on Amazon. They had a killer price of $13.49 for pre-order and after all the great things I heard from both Shawn Savage and Justin Laliberty, I just had to pick it up. Read their reviews if you need to be convinced; I was.
Yellow Brick Road: Aug 2nd
Woo! More found footage but dammit, I’m a sucker for it.

With so many 80's era horror flicks being tossed onto the reboot queue as of late it got me thinking to myself, what franchise would I honestly love to see get a well done reboot? The first one to pop into my head was the classic creature feature series Critters...
A franchise that sits comfortably on my top ten comfort movies list of films I like to watch when I’m feeling down for a guaranteed mood pick me up, some people like to eat when their feeling down me? I pop in a classic horror movie from my childhood and disappear to easier and more carefree times.
In 1986 the classic comedy/horror/action romp Critters would be released to the masses a story following a young boy Scott Grimes (Brad Brown) and his family on their rural farm in a small mid western town. And their battle against the...

As we transform ourselves here at HorrorBid into a true interactive horror magazine, one key thing we've discussed that we wanted to start doing is focusing on some of the lesser known talent that maybe haven't had their big Hollywood dreams realized but are well on their way. That's the case with our very first edition of HorroBid's "Need to Know" column featuring the ultra talented film maker, director and writer, Adam Mason....
With Hollywood flooding the mainstream market with poorly thought out remakes and unneeded sequels it’s no wonder that many die hard genre fans are turning to the indie scene for their fix of original and more extreme horror, which does not have to worry about reaching a larger theatre going crowd based on their ability to secure a PG13 rating. Movies that reach massive audiences based only on word of mouth and various guerilla advertising methods,...

An aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film in the 2010 opus of depravity A Serbian Film starring Srdjan Todorovic, Sergej Trifunovic, and Jelena Gavrilovic...
I need to clarify that the version of this film I saw was not the highly censored UK release, which is in fact the most censored film to be released in the UK with an astonishing four minutes and eleven seconds removed, that amount of time in this film is an eternity. I was blessed enough to see the dirty, grimy, stomach churning real deal uncut version of A Serbian Film.
When most people think about shock cinema titles such as I Spit On Your Grave, Faces Of Death, and The Last House On The Left come to mind,...
