Pune, Sep 1 (Ians) India’s top-seeded Anupama Upadhaya struggled to survive on a day when five seeded players exited the women’s singles event in the India Junior International Grand Prix 2022, and played in memory of the Late Sushant Chipalkatti, here on Thursday.
Day One of the main draw was ridden with upsets which included four foreigners out of five in the singles, apart from two in the mixed doubles events.
For Anupama, who began the week with a World rank of No.3, the challenge from Karnika Srees Suresh proved to be a tough ask and needed a little extra before coming through 14-21, 21-14, 22-20 in a 50-minute battle. The match also turned out to be the second longest match in the section.
While Anupama survived it was not the case for No. 8 Rasila Maharjan (Nepal), No. 10 Siti Zulaikha (Malaysia), No. 11. Devika Sihag (India), No. 13 Avishi Raina (Zimbabwe) and No.

It’s no secret that Meghan Markle is breaking ground in many ways.
The 36-year-old actress, who made waves around the world on Monday when news broke about her engagement to Prince Harry, has a strong background in charitable work and advocacy.
One of her No. 1 causes is women’s rights and female empowerment. Through her work as a Un Women’s advocate and trips abroad for philanthropic causes, Markle has made her impact long before her romance with Harry.
Along the way she’s been an outspoken activist, seeking to encourage other women and lend her voice and celebrity to good causes. Here are some of the more inspirational things she’s said:
1) During a 2015 interview with Larry King, the interviewer commented on Markle’s good looks, asking her if her looks affected her advocacy, saying, “You’re not the average American woman, Meghan, admit it.”

Joanna Lumley, Ray Winstone and Richard Wilson are among celebs who will appear in a series of short films which aimed at getting more military veterans into ‘civvy street’.

Downtown Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, Diy Sos star Nick Knowles and ex-EastEnders Larry Lamb and Michelle Collins also highlight the skills, attitude and knowledge ex-soldiers, sailors and airmen can bring to employers.

Their release follows a study by Deloitte and the Officers’ Association and the Forces in Mind Trust, which revealed UK plc is failing to realise the potential of veterans, putting ex-military personnel at a disadvantage.

Titanfall 2 is quickly approaching so the developers have released yet another trailer for the upcoming game...An incredibly cool live-action one. Come inside to check it out!
Jack and BT-7274 look about as formidable as a word my editor would fire me over. While Nancy Sinatra may take some offense to her song “Bang Bang” being slightly altered I have to say I love the trailer. Look video games like Borderlands 2 and Destiny have had some really great live action trailers and this one is pretty good as well. Titanfall 2 has been pushing this single player campaign pretty heavily and I’m glad because it seems games are pushing away from providing us with a good story and opting just for multiplayer. I mean if there was a single player campaign and story for Overwatch I’d probably be more interested. That’s why I still like Battleborn.

"Often-times, when you make things, you get paid in applause - and even that's very rare. So to do a show where there's a yearning to see it is a great honour."

AMC UK will air the series from the start, as part of a prestigious line-up that also includes the red-hot Fear the Walking Dead and underground hit Manhattan.

A pig with the name of Chris P Bacon is cute enough - Chris P Bacon - and then we found out that he's not just any pig, but a pig with wheels instead of back legs.
He's got a starring role in Nat Geo Wild's My Bionic Pet - airing next week - and he's surprisingly just the tip of the adorable iceberg.
My Bionic Pet is kind of self-explanatory - it's about pets who are fitted with prosthetic devices to help them deal with disfigurements or disabilities. The show airs on December 2, but if you want a little quiet weep at your desk, read on to meet some of the animals involved...

We're still not over Chris's name, but just look how cute he is. He was born with a condition where his hind legs are fused together, and his original owner couldn't look after him.

I don't know about you, but it's a little amazing to me that Angelina Jolie hasn't had a film open higher than Maleficent's $69.4 million. Avicii and Kaskade are among the DJs who have reworked some of Disney's classic songs for a remix album.
The LP, called Dconstructed, includes 14 Edm mixes of tracks such as 'Circle Of Life' from The Lion King by Mat Zo, Frozen's 'Let It Go' by Armin van Buuren, and 'Derezzed' from Tron: Legacy by Avicii.

Chicago – The 49th Annual Chicago International Film Festival starts tonight, October 10, 2013, with a tribute to Roger Ebert and the premiere of James Gray’s “The Immigrant,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Marion Cotillard. Wasting no time, there are at least a dozen flicks this weekend that could grab your attention. It’s one of the strongest Ciff line-ups in memory, with a few nearly-certain Oscar candidates next to some films that are unlikely to play again in Chicago any time soon.
We have a great mix of options for you in the first five days of the fest (10/10-14) in our first of three highlight pieces put together by Brian Tallerico, Patrick McDonald, and, making his Hc debut, Nick Allen. Well here's a rare treat from the usually money hungry Disney/Pixar. While we would have fully expected the short "Partysaurus Rex" -- which unspooled in front of screenings for "Finding Nemo 3D" -- to only be available in the eventual home video release for the converted movie, the studio has gone ahead and thrown it online. Nice. The seven-minute movie finds Wallace Shawn reprising his role as Rex, and this time we find the toy dinosaur in the tub with Bonnie, along with a bunch of new friends, and a party comes to life. Simple and straightforward. Pixar heads will notice a few nods to other movies under the animation banner, and the entire affair is directed by Mark Walsh and bounces to a score by electronic artist BT. The short continues Pixar's branding of "Toy Story" long past the "finale" of "Toy Story 3," with the characters also...

Disney•Pixar have released their entire new Toy Story animated short, Partysaurus Rex online. The film, which will play before the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo tells the “truth” about Rex the dinosaur – as we discover that bath time is when Rex, the adorably nervous Tyrannosaurus Rex figurine with a fear of being replaced by a bigger dinosaur toy, finally lets himself get down and dirty.
As the only available toy with limbs, Rex puts his tiny arms to good use by turning on the water and getting the party going for those dried-out toys on his own – which leads to a sort of bubble-filled rave, complete with glow-in-the-dark toys making disco lights under an overturned colander and dance music by Grammy-nominated electronica musician BT.

We've bid farewell to the Great White North for another year — yup, the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival is officially over. In years past, Oscar winners like "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The King's Speech" made their international debuts at Tiff. With that in mind, we took in every screening our schedules allowed, looking for the Next Big Thing of this year.
We narrowed the Best of Fest list to 15; They may not be the Oscar nominees of 2013 — though we'd bet cash money some of them are — but they'll be among the best movies you'll see for yourself this year.
'Antiviral'
Brandon Cronenberg's name looks familiar for a reason; he's the son of "Cosmopolis" director David Cronenberg. And while the imagery in his first feature-length film evokes memories of his dad's work — there are echoes of "Videodrome" and "Naked Lunch" in "Antiviral" — the younger Cronenberg has created something unarguably unique.

As I noted back in July, the upcoming Toy Story toon that will be hitting theaters is titled "Partysaurus Rex" and at that time I forgot all about the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo, which this short will play in front of on September 14. The short serves as the third in the Toy Story Toons line on the heels of Hawaiian Vacation and Small Fry and centers on Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), the T-rex toy that Buzz, Woody and the rest of the "Toy Story" gang consider just a wet blanket, but when Bonnie takes him to bath time, he goes from a party pooper to king of the tub! Creating a bubble bash like no other, everyone's raving about the Partysaurus Rex! Partysaurus Rex features a score from electronic artist BT and you get a taste of it in the following sneak peek clip. Give it a watch.
