- Michael Carreras was born on December 21, 1927 in Wandsworth, London, England, UK. He was a producer and director, known for Horror of Dracula (1958), The Lost Continent (1968) and What a Crazy World (1963). He died on April 19, 1994 in Chelsea, London, England, UK.
- Grandson of Enrique Carreras (1880-1950), co-founder of Hammer Films.
- He was dominated by his strong-willed father, Sir James Carreras, and often felt strongly frustrated in his film career. He outlived his father by only four years.
- Educated at Reading School. From 1943 to 1950, served as associate producer at Exclusive Films. Subsequently, director, screenwriter and producer. Gradually introduced science-fiction into Hammer's output. Executive producer at Hammer Films from 1955. Managing director in 1971, and Chief Executive the following year. Forced to resign in 1979, when the company failed to secure finance and fell into receivership.
