The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

In the most least surprising news of the of the year, Stranger Things has been renewed for a third season! I know we all knew this was going to happen, but Netflix did officially make the announcement today, so all of you fans can get up and do your happy dance!
There are a couple of things that were not included in the announcement. They don't reveal when Season 3 will be released, and they don't say how many episodes that it will entail. Those things will obviously come as the next season is being developed.
There was a fifteen-month gap between Seasons 1 and 2, so I imagine we can expect to wait around the same amount of time before Season 3 hits.

The only strange thing would be if you couldn’t see this news coming from a mile away. Netfix will journey back to Hawkins, Indiana — and more importantly, the Upside Down — when “Stranger Things” returns with a third installment, the company announced Friday. The full main cast is expected to return for show’s third outing. For those who need reminding, that’s Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Jim Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler,...

The young stars of Stranger Things were catapulted into fame after the first season of the sci-fi series hit Netflix last summer — particularly Millie Bobby Brown, who stole the show and inspired Halloween costumes across the country with her portrayal of Eleven, a girl with psychokinetic abilities.
But for fans of the adorably relatable 13-year-old, it probably comes as no surprise that sudden stardom — and an Emmy nomination! — hasn’t changed her one bit. People Now recently caught up with Brown’s costar Cara Buono, who had nothing but praise for the actress.

The second season of Stranger Things looks set to be bigger and better (if that’s at all possible) than the first judging from the ‘Thriller’ trailer released this past weekend at San Diego Comic Con.

Set to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and transporting us right back to the early 80’s, the chills ensue almost instantly as our returning cast are not only haunted by the events from season 1 but something even sinister seems to be plaguing the group of youngsters as their everyday lives are turned upside down. A respectful nod to the classic Ghostbusters can be seen as the group decide to take matters into their own hands. If you don’t get chills watching the trailer below, you have to be made of stone.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best new TV family of 2016?
Joyce Eng (@joyceeng61), TVGuide.com
I feel like the Pearsons are going to dominate this, but the correct answer is the Dimeos. “Speechless” is one of the fall’s best new shows that could’ve easily succumbed to a mawkish tone with its premise centered on a child with cerebral palsy. But like so many of ABC’s sharp family comedies, it toes the line of being sincere without being saccharine, witty without being desperate and inclusive without being morally superior, with finely etched characters, led by Minnie Driver’s ferocious mama bear, who are not afraid to get dark and unlikable.

Stranger Things has been the surprise hit of the summer. While movie studios mostly failed to draw audiences to their blockbuster tentpoles, an off-beat original love story to all things Amblin Entertainment took over the conversation. Stranger Things may focus on the coming-of-age of four suburban boys, but they are surrounded by some seriously fascinating women. Yet while everyone is waxing poetic about Barb (Shannon Purser), celebrating Winona Ryder’s fantastic performance, and writing praise about Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), someone is getting lost in the shuffle. We need to talk about Karen Wheeler. Played by the amazing Cara Buono, Karen Wheeler fascinates me. Feeling instantly familiar to anyone who grew up in the suburban sprawl of the 1980s, Mrs. Wheeler is viewed through the lens of her children. A foil for Ryder’s frazzled Joyce Byers, Karen represents the matriarch of a picture-perfect family. She...

It's one thing to set a TV series in the 1980s; it's a whole other thing, however, to make it feel like it was actually shot during the Reagan-and-Rubik's-Cube era. Matt and Ross Duffer's new Netflix series Stranger Things is full of nostalgic nods to the decade and its pop-cultural products, but it's also uncommonly rigorous about getting the details just right — whether it's the many pitch-perfect music cues, the hat-tipping nods and homages to Eighties movies, or simply nailing the cringeworthy fashion statements of the day (those Mom jeans!
