KollywoodThe film has heaped too much onto its plate to be able to present anything memorable.Anjana ShekarMarket Raja (Aarav) is a don. To prove it, in his very first scene, he’s shown choosing between two guns to use on a man who has wronged him, and then decides to not shoot him after all. Market Raja is a classic, unpredictable don. He’s also the kind of person who everyone is terrified of, including his own mother Sundhari Bai (Radikaa). Now she’s a don too. Well, kind of. She’s shown riding a Bullet while wearing silk sarees and chunky jewellery. She commands a group of goons around and smokes a cigar. The mother-son relationship is non-existent and on the rare occasion when they do meet, Sundhari Bai is treated poorly by her son. In one scene, she is physically kicked into the air by Market Raja.

MollywoodAishwarya Lekshmi leaves behind stereotype and does well as Mehru while Kalidas Jayaram seems limited in a film that is just not told well.CrisThere’s going to be football and there’s going to be romance, you know that much from the title and the posters. But Argentina Fans Kattoorkadavu doesn’t tell either story too well. You get a whiff of that from the very first scene when Chandramohan, a football fan in Kerala, tries to get a church priest to recite the last prayers for Andres Escobar. The real-life Columbian player had allegedly been murdered in the wee hours of July 2, 1994 and it’s on that night that the fictional Chandramohan wakes the priest up with a photo of Escobar. The priest’s fear at the knock on his door and the half-hearted prayer that he recites are only the first of the many poor attempts at comedy that follow.

Some films take time to strike a chord with the audience, but "Sukumarudu", about greedy Nri protagonist, makes an instant connect with viewers. It's another Telugu film high on emotion with good performances. However, what makes the seemingly entertaining film boring and melodramatic is the done to death presentation style.

With "Sarocharu", Ravi has officially added another dud to his list of films. Ravi Teja, who is colloquially called Mass Maharaja, has for the first time in a long time, shifted away from his 'mass' avatar to make way for a class appearance, and yet gets introduced as usual in a fight sequence. At this juncture, not only does he fight the baddies, but takes the effort to mouth a few cliched dialogues as well. Ravi.

Pran Kishan Sikand
Pran Kishan Sikand dreamt of becoming a professional photographer. Little did he know that a measly, humble ‘paan’ (betel leaf) would change his life and set him on his destined path. It was 1939 or thereabouts. Pran was at a ‘paan’ shop at Lahore, enjoying a munch with his friends when a stranger approached him and asked whether he wanted to act in films. Pran was amused and asked his name. Stranger introduced himself as Muhammad Walli, a renowned film maker in the flourishing film district of Lahore. He said he was making a Punjabi film and Pran looked a perfect fit for the role of a villain in the film. Pran just brushed him off. Walli kept insisting that he pay a visit to the studio, and pushed a piece of paper with his address into Pran’s hands. The film was Yamla Jat (1940), a runaway hit that year.
