The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed its 276-member-strong class of 2013.
The list, published by The Hollywood Reporter, includes actors, cinematographers, designers, directors, documentarians, executives, film editors, makeup artists and hairstylists, "members-at-large," musicians, producers, PR folks, short filmmakers and animators, sound technicians, visual effects artists, and writers.
Jason Bateman, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu, Jennifer Lopez, Emily Mortimer, Sandra Oh, Jason Schwartzman, and Michael Peña are among the roster of actors, while "The Heat" and "Bridesmaids" helmer Paul Feig made the directors' cut.
"We did not change our criteria at all," says Academy president Hawk Koch of this year's larger-than-usual class. "Yes, this year there is a tremendous amount of women, a tremendous amount of people of color, people from all walks of life. This year, we asked the branches to look at everybody who wasn't in the Academy but who deserved to be.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today the 276 members of the entertainment industry invited to join organization. The list includes actors, directors, documentarians, executives, film editors, producers and more. "These individuals are among the best filmmakers working in the industry today," said Academy President Hawk Koch in a press release. "Their talent and creativity have captured the imagination of audiences worldwide, and I am proud to welcome each of them to the Academy." Koch also told Variety, "In the past eight or nine years, each branch could only bring in X amount of members. There were people each branch would have liked to get in but couldn't. We asked them to be more inclusive of the best of the best, and each branch was excited, because they got...

That’s 100 more than last year, and part of an easing of a longstanding cap on the number of new members allowed to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences each year.
AMPAS usually adds between 130 and 180 new members, replacing those who have quit or passed away. The membership now stands around 6,000.
Jason Bateman, Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emmanuelle Riva, and Chris Tucker are among the actors who have been invited to join, the organization announced today.

Warning: If you have yet to watch Tuesday’s season finale of Ringer, avert your eyes now. Everyone else, read on….
Ringer‘s majorly twin-sted debut season came to a dramatic end on Tuesday night, with countless loose ends tied up, a handful of deaths and an awesome little cliffhanger that — should The CW pick up the drama for a second season — will make for a fun jumping-off point.
Nope-tials | The finale opens on that gorgeous vow renewal ceremony we teased here, but — as predicted — it was all just a dream. Poor Bridget has been stressing out about telling Andrew her secret,...

Ringer Recap: Lies Were Exposed and Schemes Were Revealed in the Season Finale
Ringer came to the end of its first season...and what may be its only season, depending on whether The CW chooses to renew the show next month. While Ringer did leave us with a cliffhanger, there were quite a few developments in the season finale, especially things we've been wanting to see for a while.
Siobhan's Lies Were Exposed: After the twins' birth, Henry told Siobhan he wanted to move to Chicago so that the kids could grow up with his family. He sneakily convinced her to use the money she stole from Martin Charles for a down payment on the house. Later, the paternity test results arrived and Siobhan was shocked that Henry had ordered the test. But without even looking, she told him that he was the girls' father when he asked. Only that...

If you thought that last week's Ringer was full of surprises, well, that was just the beginning.
"It's Called Improvising, Bitch!" continued the wild ride. I'll admit, Siobhan was a serious bitch to Catherine back in the day. Not only did she steal her husband, she sent her daughter off to boarding school and was about to sell off the house Catherine was living in. Did she kick her puppy too?
No wonder Catherine hated her.
Of course there's hate and then there's crazy, evil, rage. Obviously, Catherine was spiraling into madness as her plans disintegrated.
The episode gave me a lot of just when you think moments…
Just when I thought Andrew had smartened up and smelled trouble, he decided Catherine's only deceit was coveting his whirl pool tub. Just when I thought Catherine was going to run when Andrew saved Bridget, she came back with a gun and hatched an even crazier scheme.

As Ringer returned with "Let's Kill Bridget," Andrew was looking pretty good for a man who took a bullet to the chest in last week's episode. He was fielding calls from investors and telling Agent Machado what a lousy job he was doing. Well, on the last part he might have been right.
Don't get me wrong. I've grown to like Machado, especially since we've found out about his personal connection to this case, but the frustration has gotten to him. When he beat the suspect in the street to get him to talk, not only had he gone too far, he'd grown stupid about where and when to step over the line. He obviously wasn't thinking clearly and that could get him killed.
Of course, instead of getting himself offed, he had a different plan. Let's kill Bridget. Okay, so this was a better strategy than Bridget's plan, which was.

"That Woman's Never Been A Victim Her Entire Life" kicked off right where last week's episode ended, with Andrew bleeding on the floor.
Andrew did indeed jump in front of a bullet to save Bridget. I can only hope that he remembers this loving, romantic moment with Bridget when the truth finally comes out... but somehow I don't think that's going to happen.
Did anyone else notice that when Henry told Siobhan there had been a shooting she didn't look at all surprised? What sparked her interest was that the victim was Andrew and not Bridget.
So did Siobhan set up her sister or does she truly believe that Andrew wants her dead?
At least Henry seemed to be smartening up a little bit. Thank goodness. It was tiring watching him be nothing more than Siobhan's lap dog these last few weeks.
There were an awful lot of confessions in this episode.

Ringer: Are Andrew and Olivia Really Killers? Plus, Watch a Preview for Next Week
This week's Ringer may have shocked a few fans, because Andrew went from mild-mannered husband to potential murderer. After learning that Martin Charles was involved in some shady business dealings last week, Bridget finally confronted Andrew about it, thinking that Olivia was behind it. But Andrew dropped a bombshell: the Ponzi scheme was his idea. As he explained to Bridget this week, the firm started losing money, so they used new investors to pay off old investors and when the economy suffered a few years ago, they kept going with it. Andrew insists that he's figured out a way to have computers outsmart the market, so he's trying to make enough money to dig the firm out of this mess.
Naturally, Bridget was rather surprised that her (sister's) husband was capable of this kind of financial fraud.

Sometimes I love the twists and turns on Ringer and sometimes they just make me dizzy. Last night's episode, "You're Way Too Pretty To Go To Jail," had my head spinning.
Lots of questions were answered in this episode but the pace was so quick it was hard to keep up. In the span of one episode Andrew went from a loving romantic to a crook and possible murderer.
Was he the one behind the attempt on Siobhan's life? What was he willing to do to protect his dirty little secret?
It certainly sounded like he was planning on making the same quick get away as Olivia when it all hits the fan. Could his love for Bridget have made him even more desperate to keep the ponzi scheme going a while longer.
There were so many questions about Andrew's character and motivations that I'm not sure what to think of him anymore.

Tonight on Ringer: Andrew Explains His (Bad) Choices (Sneak Peeks)
Andrew dropped a bombshell on Bridget in last week's episode of Ringer: he was the one who came up with the idea of running Martin Charles like a Ponzi scheme. After some digging, Malcolm and Bridget thought that Olivia was doing it all on her own, but when Bridget confronted Andrew, he admitted that he knew all about it.
How will Bridget react to the news that the (previously) perfect Andrew is actually a crook? Well, according to the promo for tonight's Ringer (found at the bottom of last week's recap), she will not be pleased. At first she's shocked, at least until Andrew explains that it was all his idea. "We made a series of bad investments, there wasn't enough to cover expenses" Andrew explains. Later, when the economy collapsed and more investors wanted to pull their money out of the fund,...

Ringer takes fans on quite a ride with its twists and turns each week. How does it feel to actually be one of the people on that roller coaster? I asked that question to Justin Bruening yesterday.
"I get dizzy doing it," laughed the man behind Tyler Barrett. "I'll have an episode off and I'll have no idea what happened. I end up having to play catch up."
Ringer Promo: "Whores Don't Make That Much"
Siobhan's certainly using Tyler for more than his hot body, that much viewers know for certain. She needs his access to Martin Charles Financial to take down hubby Andrew - but does Tyler have any clue he's being used?
"It's really hard to pinpoint whether or not he loves her," Bruening says. "I think he cares for her but it's hard because she lies to him constantly and he knows that."
So Tyler's not completely clueless?...

I never saw it coming. I've probably written those words more than once about a TV show, but Ringer really got me with "It's Easy To Cry, When This Much Cash Is Involved."
Even though I wasn't convinced at first, by the the end of this episode I completely believed that Juliet was raped by Mr. Carpenter. I thought Tessa's corroboration and subsequent breakdown in the restroom were real too.
When Catherine and Bridget prodded Andrew to settle with Carpenter, I thought it was the wrong thing to do. At the very least I thought they should have spoken to Juliet about it. Now I see that that wouldn't have mattered.
Money has the power to bring out the worst in people and it certainly did here. Juliet was so pissed off about Daddy freezing her trust fund and sending her to public school that she staged an elaborate rape story and subsequent law suit.
