Towards the beginning of the year, we learned that Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours composer A.R. Rahman was working with Godspell and Wicked writer Stephen Schwartz for a DreamWorks Animated musical called Monkeys of Bollywood. The film was said to be set in Mumbai and follows two monkeys who try to stop an ancient demon from conquering the world. Well, now Heat Vision says Enchanted helmer Kevin Lima will now be sitting in the director's chair for the project which now has the working title Mumbai. Lima worked in animation before with Disney's Tarzan, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him. Interestingly enough, the film is a bit of a reunion of people who worked on the enjoyable Enchanted. Not only did Lima work with Schwartz on that Disney film which lovingly sent up all their animated princess fairytales, but producer Chris Chase is also involved ...

Universal Pictures continues developing "Candy Land", from a screenplay by writer Etan "Tropic Thunder" Cohen for director Kevin "Enchanted" Lima, adapting the Hasbro board game. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner will produce with executive producer Christopher Chase.
The original "Candy Land" game, designed in the 1940's by Eleanor Abbott, was purchased by the Milton Bradley Company (now owned by Hasbro).
Hasbro continues to produce several versions of the brand, marketing "Candy Land" puzzles, PC games and handheld electronic versions.
The game consists of a 'race', woven around a story line about finding the lost king of 'Candy Land'. The board itself is a winding, linear track made of 134 spaces, most of which are red, green, blue, yellow, orange or violet.
The remaining few spaces are locations such as 'Candy Cane Forest' and 'Gum Drop Mountain', with characters including 'King Candy', 'Queen Frostine' and 'Gramma Nutt'.

Enchanted director Kevin Lima has agreed to receive a paycheck from Fox 2000 for services provided on Frank, the studio's new romantic comedy that takes liberties with Mary Shelley's creation. The project was developed by Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) but it won't be written by him.
The idea centers on a whizkid young medical student who's a loser in their social life. Taking some advice from her guidance counselor the prodigy creates her own Bff by assembling different pieces of the corpses stored in her school. Suddenly I understand why Kirkpatrick didn't want to write the screenplay for this one. He's still going to be cashing a check as an executive producer on it though so responsibility, thou art Karey Kirkpatrick's!
Radar Pictures is developing the project for the studio with Chris Chase and Ted Field producing. More responsible ones! Get them!

The Incredible Mr. Limpet, a hybrid live action and animated feature made in 1964 that starred the late Don Knotts, is getting the remake treatment. Kevin Lima, director of incredibly awesome Disney movies like A Goofy Movie and Enchanted, swims himself into the helm of the family comedy. Despite it not being completely out of the ordinary to see an older film get a more modern take on its tale, this particular piece of property has been juggled around for awhile. From Mike Judge to Robin Williams, this cinematic puppy was itching to be remade.
Producing will be the likes of Paula Weinstein (Blood Diamond), Bill Gerber (Gran Torino), James Lassiter (Seven Pounds), Chris Chase (Enchanted) and Akiva Goldsman (Jonah Hex). The film will be under the sparkling supervision of Warner Bros. Pictures, taking up another part of Lima’s schedule along with the live action Tom Thumb and Candyland movies.

The "Enchanted" director is attached to helm Warner Bros.' update of "The Incredible Mr. Limpet," a story about a man who turns into a talking fish.
Don Knotts starred in the studio's 1964 original, which centered on the title character, an otherwise bland sort who after his transformation becomes a World War II hero when he helps spot and thwart enemy warships for the Allies.
The picture was a live action-animated hybrid, with Arthur Lubin directing the live sections and Robert McKimson helming the animated parts.
The new project, which also will be a live-animated blend, has been through several iterations, with Robin Williams and Jim Carrey among the stars for whom it previously had been developed. Mike Judge was at one point attached to direct.

The studio is developing "Thumb," a feature version of Tom Thumb, the diminutive folklore character who has had many entertainment incarnations over the years. "Enchanted" director Kevin Lima will helm the film.
"Thumb" will primarily be a live-action movie, though Thumb may be depicted as a CG character. The movie, which could be fast-tracked by the studio, is said to be a fresh take that will explore the character's origin story; the comedy-adventure is based on an original screenplay by "Saving Private Ryan" scribe Robert Rodat and will look at the heroism that a knight must summon after he is reduced to a pint size.
The film will be produced by Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher via their Red Wagon banner, with Chris Chase executive producing. Courtenay Valenti and Jesse Ehrman are overseeing for Warners.
