A character named Alan becomes involved in the case due to his passion for animals and his dedication to preserving the ecosystem. Richie Mehta drew inspiration from a Kerala-based It engineer named Jose Louies to create the fictional character Alan Joseph in his work. The incident of animal poaching deeply troubles him, igniting his pursuit for justice. He teams up with Mala Jogi, the forest ranger, under the supervision of Neel Banerjee, the Chief Wildlife Warden of the area. However, as the series progresses, we discover there is more to Alan than meets the eye. He conceals the truth about his involvement in the investigation to protect his family. Poacher is about killing elephants for their tusk. Richie Mehta , known to not spare us any details from the scene of the crime (Delhi Crime) highlights scenes of poachers ripping out the priceless ivory from elephants wailing in unbearable pain.
I don’t know how Mehta shot these never-before scenes of cruelty to animals. We are assured that no animal was harmed during the shooting. We as the spectators are irreparably harmed.
It is not a pleasant sight to see how cruel we humans can be. Poached is an expose on a loveless irredeemably lost civilization which no longer cares about the damage we cause to our own earth every single day.
But we are straying. The focus here is on the plunder of elephants. It is not an easy breezy series to sit through.

In the plethora of content available for audiences, very few characters make a mark in the audience’s mind, and seldom, it is a female character, especially in a cop role. However, with Richie Mehta helming a project, a trend seems to be emerging with a female character at the heart of it, be it Vartika Chaturvedi in ‘Delhi Crime’ or Mala Jogi in ‘Poacher’. Known for his signature style of investigative storytelling, Richie Mehta develops his characters to match the pace of his engaging narratives.
While ‘Poacher’ is a perfect example of an ensemble show, the character of Forest Range Officer Mala Jogi truly stands out, and played aptly by highly acclaimed and appreciated actor Nimisha Sajayan.
As a forest range officer in the Kerala Forest Department, Mala (played by Nimisha) is deeply committed to combating wildlife crime. This commitment is aggravated due to her father’s past involvement in wildlife crime.

One evening in Bombay in 1954, almost all the taxis in the city seemed parked outside a prominent cinema on a busy thoroughfare with their drivers, led by the chairman of their association, inside, watching a film, and according to its hero, a unit member “gleefully announced that there was no taxi available for any passengers that evening.”
The film was ‘Taxi Driver’, a lightly noirish urban romance featuring Dev Anand, Kalpana Kartika, and Sheila Ramani, and especially bittersweet for its hero both professionally and personally, beyond its commercial success. It was not the sole film to feature taxi drivers that year, with Dev Anand’s friend Guru Dutt also releasing his own ‘Aar Paar’, having a similar focus and largely the same storyline, but neither film overshadowed the other.

The question asked back in the ’80s and ’90s was never, “Have you seen The Star Wars Holiday Special?” It was always, “Have you heard of The Star Wars Holiday Special?”
We’re talking about a 1978 air date, after all. Someone must have owned a Vcr, since bootleg copies of the maligned variety show do exist on the Internet (George Lucas has vehemently denounced the project and even Disney has refused to release a “clean” copy beyond putting the animated segment “The Story of the Faithful Wookiee” on Disney+.) But its existence was akin to legend back then. Just knowing was enough to be cool with details being learned rather than experienced.
So it’s shocking that it’s taken until 2023 to finally receive a “definitive” look at its creation and eventual lambasting. Jeremy Coon and Steve Kozak’s A Disturbance in the Force thus seems almost like a miracle...

The idea took seed with his debut film ‘Titli’. The fact that he himself experienced certain sexual repression while growing up and witnessed the same among many people around him, made critically acclaimed filmmaker Kanu Behl whose latest ‘Agra’ was screened at the Director’s Fortnight section at Cannes take up the subject in the film.
“I asked myself what is the larger context and how does this very personal impulse become universal? It was then that the idea of physical spaces struck me and I found that to be a very interesting take on life — not just on the personal, but a larger socio-cultural context. The more I delved into the protagonist’s emotional landscape, I realised that his sexuality was related to the physical spaces that he inhabited and the latter was getting ‘affected’ by that as well.
