The film follows ex-lovers Henry (Pine) and Celia (Newton) — one a CIA spy, one an ex-spy — who meet over dinner to reminisce on their time together at Vienna station. The conversation moves to the disastrous hijacking of Royal Jordanian Flight 127, which ended in the deaths of all on board. That failure haunts the CIA to this day, and Henry seeks to close the book on that seedy chapter. Over a sumptuous dinner, it becomes clear that one of them is...
Directed by Janus Metz, the stage and screen stars join the previously announced Chris Pine and Thandie Newton in the project.
Based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Olen Steinhauer, who also adapted the screenplay, “Knives” is produced by Chockstone Pictures, Nick Wechsler Productions and Jackson Pictures in association with eOne.

Jun 12, 2009 What is the connection between twisting yourself into a pretzel in a yoga studio and true spiritual enlightenment? It's an interesting question and the main drive behind Enlighten Up, a successful new documentary about how many different versions, visions, and variations there are in the world of yoga. What makes director Kate Churchill's documentary particularly interesting is the fact that diehard practitioners of spiritual practices like yoga aren't exactly the most open to questioning and skeptics aren’t easy to convince that yoga is the way to mental, emotional, and spiritual happiness. Ask a yogi ...Read more at MovieRetriever.com...

Is yoga a path to physical fitness or to spiritual enlightenment? Or is the whole yoga industry just a hype-job? Documentarian Kate Churchill has been practicing yoga for years, and has found profound joy and peace on the mat. Her friend Nick Rosen is a deeply cynical unemployed journalist who’s intrigued by the idea of yoga as an exercise regimen, but rolls his eyes whenever yogis or other adherents start chanting or pontificating about “chakras” or “blockages.” For her documentary Enlighten Up!, Churchill leads Rosen through several types of Americanized and traditional forms of yoga, and while Rosen wants ...

In this week's edition of Indie Roundup, we begin by noting the sad and untimely passing of one of the great champions of independent film, Wouter Barendrecht. The founder of Fortissimo Films, an international sales and production company, Barendrecht died unexpectedly last weekend from heart failure while in Thailand.
Eugene Hernandez at indieWIRE writes: "Perhaps his greatest professional achievement is the invaluable role he played as a tireless champion of Asian cinema and as a stalwart supporter of independent, queer and international film. On a personal note, his friendships with so many members of the worldwide film community are also hard to overlook." He was just 43.

Cinematical has just received this exclusive poster for Enlighten Up, a rather interesting documentary co-written and directed by Kate Churchill. Essentially, Churchill sets out to prove that yoga can transform anyone -- and so she finds this skeptical 29-year-old journalist named Nick, and together they embark on a journey of self-discovery. However, since Nick is a guy who doesn't really believe in all this yoga nonsense, Churchill's plan quickly unravels ... and what they ultimately find is not what anyone expected. I kinda dig stories about journalists who put themselves in very uncomfortable situations all in the name of capturing "the experience," and while I've never tried yoga myself (even though I have a yoga game for my Nintendo Wii), perhaps this doc will inspire me to ... well, help myself (and finally play that Wii game) Definitely keep an eye on this one -- it hits theaters in NYC on April...
