How the actress’s upcoming projects look to expand her image.
There’s no denying that Margot Robbie’s sex appeal has played a role in the trajectory of her acting career. However, while she’s often listed among Hollywood’s rising stars, her sex symbol status has not come without a price, as perhaps best exemplified by Vanity Fair’s obnoxiously terrible profile of the actress, which should not perhaps be counted as journalism so much as patronizing sexist ooze. The article mentions that Robbie is a talented actress, but mostly focuses on trying to describe her physical appearance as extensively and creepily as possible, with seemingly a secondary goal of irritating the entire country of Australia, or as Rich Cohen calls it, “America 50 years ago.”

Margot Robbie was left bewildered by the "weird" tone of her heavily-criticised Vanity Fair profile piece.
The Wolf of Wall Street actress appeared on the front cover of the U.S. magazine and the accompanying profile piece, which was released earlier this month (Jul16). But it was met with a barrage of criticism on social media with many calling Rich Cohen's writing sexist and unusual, as he appeared to focus on her appearance rather than her acting.
Cohen also sparked outrage among Margot's fellow Australians by describing the "throwback" country as "America 50 years ago".
Margot, who has kept tight-lipped about the interview, broke her silence on Australia's TV show The Project on Monday (25Jul16) and admitted she had a strange vibe about the piece at the time and was somewhat baffled when it was published.

Margot Robbie Speaks Up About "Really Weird" Vanity Fair Interview: Maybe I'm Desensitized to It Now
Hindsight is 20/20—just ask Margot Robbie. The Suicide Squad actress sat down with Vanity Fair's Rich Cohen as the cover girl of the August issue. While the magazine declared this the "summer of Robbie," that's really where the compliments ended. Cohen's complete profile immediately came under fire after it went live on the publication's website, critics taking aim at the author's confusing and controversial commentary about the star. He compared Robbie's looks to "a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance" before subtly insulting Australians, saying the country is "a throwback, which is why you go there for throwback...

Australian actor reveals the ‘Aussie pride’ she felt in the aftermath, when Rich Cohen’s article was denigrated as sexist and patronising
Australian actor Margot Robbie has described a controversial Vanity Fair profile of her as “really weird”, telling Channel Ten’s The Project that she remembered thinking “that was a really odd interview” after it came to a close.
Written by Rich Cohen, the profile was widely denigrated as a sexist portrayal of Robbie and a patronising portrayal of Australia when it was published online in July.

Great Job, Internet!: Leering profiles of female celebs write themselves with this Mad Libs template
A couple of weeks ago, Vanity Fair’s Rich Cohen came under fire for writing what was widely deemed to be a creepy and sexist profile of Australian actress Margot Robbie. Cohen’s article quickly became the subject of both parodies and think pieces, and it sparked a debate about how men typically write about women in the entertainment field. Some observers pointed out that Cohen’s article was just the latest example of a male journalist obsessing over the physical attributes of a female celebrity. Cohen did manage to bring the outrage to a whole new level, however, by insulting all of Australia in the process, characterizing the country as a quaint, outdated place populated by simpleminded bumpkins. The whole thing was pretty embarrassing for everyone involved: Cohen, Robbie, and Australia. Maybe all of this shame could be avoided in the future, however, thanks to New York magazine contributor...

The author of a Vanity Fair profile of “Suicide Squad” star Margot Robbie has been accused of taking a “sexist” and “creepy” approach, but the most awkward moment of the interview comes at the end of the piece. Author Rich Cohen asks her about sex scenes, telling readers that in “The Wolf of Wall Street” she “partakes in some of the most graphic on-screen shenanigans I’ve ever seen, famously short-skirted in one scene.” He asks if she was worried about not being able to do a sex scene on-camera, Cohen and Robbie agree that sex scenes are awkward, and then Robbie … gets.

Margot Robbie fans are taking Vanity Fair writer Rich Cohen to task for his cover story on the actress that many are describing as “sexist” and “creepy.” In particular, people are upset with the way Cohen describes Robbie in the piece. “She can be sexy and composed even while naked but only in character,” he wrote. People are also none too pleased with how Cohen described Australia. “Australia is America 50 years ago, sunny and slow, a throwback, which is why you go there for throwback people,” he wrote. With the release of Magic Mike Xxl, this week is like a holiday for Channing Tatum fans. And it's about to get even sweeter. On Wednesday, Vanity Fair released the cover for its August issue, starring none other than Channing and his alluring eyes. The snaps were shot by veteran photographer Annie Leibovitz, so fans are practically guaranteed the pictures inside the magazine will be just as hot. When Channing wasn't striking sexy poses or giving us a fun dance lesson, he chatted up contributing editor Rich Cohen about how thongs make him feel and his thoughts about his earlier work. Read on for some of his best quotes and a video of the wet shoot, then quench your thirst with Channing's sexiest pictures. On whether or not he'd embrace his stripper past off screen: "Well, we're going to start a [Magic Mike] show in Vegas, and I'll never say never. . . . I...

As he returns to the world of male striptease on-screen in the deliciously named Magic Mike Xxl, Channing Tatum tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Rich Cohen not to count out an off screen return to the stripper pole, where his career began. ‘Well, we’re going to start a [Magic Mike] show in Vegas, and I’ll never say never,’ he says. In fact, it may be just a thin strip of fabric that stands in the way: ‘I wouldn’t mind going out there and doing it one more time. Or maybe twice. But, you know, every time I’ve put on a thong and am getting ready to walk onstage again, I’m like, ‘Why do I want to do this? ‘It’s very uncomfortable to be in a thong in front of a thousand people.’ In fact, this quandary was nearly a plot point in Magic Mike Xxl:...

Channing Tatum's paternal instincts are already kicking in and he only just welcomed his baby girl Everly into the world on May 31. The Magic Mike man tells Vanity Fair magazine's July issue that he has some concerns about Justin Bieber.

Wedding bells are not on the horizon for Angelina Jolie. The Oscar-winner recently spoke to Vanity Fair about her upcoming directorial debut, but took the time to dispel any rumors that she is tying the knot with longtime partner Brad Pitt. “There’s no secret wedding,” she bluntly told Vf contributing editor Rich Cohen, “I’m not pregnant, I’m not adopting at the moment.” Once she got that out of the way, Angie hunkered down to discuss work on her passion project, Land of Blood and Honey, for which she’s not only behind the camera but also behind the pen. “I had the flu,” she said about how she came to write the screenplay. “I had to be quarantined from the children for two days. I was in the attic of a house in France…So I started writing.” She then sent a copy of the script to Brad for a second opinion.

The most effective counterterrorism force in the world is Israel’s Sayeret Matkal—“the Unit.” A highly secretive special-operations brigade, it has taken on mythic status with swift, surgical victories in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and, perhaps most famously, Entebbe, Uganda, where its commandos freed 103 Jewish hostages after a 1976 hijacking. Probing the Unit’s shadowy history, Rich Cohen reveals the leaders it has forged (including Prime Ministers Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu), the methods by which it hunted down the members of Black September, and the brutal lessons it can teach the U.S.

Angie — there’s a very strange photo of you in the new August issue of Vanity Fair, on page 117!
It looks like you’ve had a head transplant — there’s a weird, dark line along the top of your collarbone that makes it look like your neck is a tree-trunk that’s been plunked down on top of your chest.
Now, after staring and staring at it, I think I’ve figured out what’s going on with Brad’s best girl, and the star of the upcoming action thriller, Salt!
Angie’s just too, too thin! So thin that her breast-bones are shadowing through on her upper chest, her collarbone is unusually prominent and her tendons are strutting unnaturally out of her super thin neck!
All of this combines to create the bizarre “head transplant” effect!
