Don’t you worry about Famke Janssen’s powerful, sexy Olivia Godfrey. Though things looked shaky for her at the close of Season One of the Netflix original horror hit "hemlock Grove," Famke told us, "Olivia typically finds her way out of any peril. She is unstoppable."
Just in case you’ve never visited “Hemlock Grove,” it’s a fictional town in Pennsylvania peopled with werewolves, monsters and creatures of all sorts. In Season One, Roman Godfrey, heir to the town’s wealthy Godfrey family fortune, befriended the town’s newest resident, Peter Rumancek.
But things weren’t so “friendly.” A spate of brutal murders in the town stirred up speculation and rumors, and it turned out both young men were hiding their own dark secrets.
Stirring up trouble, quite often, is the family’s malevolent matriarch, Olivia. One of Olivia’s favorite playthings is Norman Godfrey (Dougray Scott), her dead husband’s brother.

Deadline reports that AMC is in the midst of turning The Son, a bestselling 2013 novel by Philipp Meyer (above), into a drama series. Meyer is executive-producing alongside Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, who developed Netflix’s horror series Hemlock Grove based on McGreevy’s novel, and Michael Connolly, an executive-producer on Hemlock Grove.
Originally eyed as an event series, The Son is being planned as a multi-season drama series by AMC. It’s described as a “multi-generational epic telling the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas oil empire.”
Though it may not seem like it, this is a crucially important time for AMC. Its flagship show Breaking Bad, one of the most widely acclaimed dramas of all time, recently finished its swan song, and period drama Mad Men is on its way out with the second half of its final season coming next year.

The Island of Doctor Moreau, written by H.G. Wells, is set for another film adaptation courtesy of Warner Bros. The novel has been adapted for the screen several times, including The Island of Lost Souls with Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi. The latest version starring Marlon Brando did not sit well with most people, and it seems Warner Bros. would like another shot at it.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is teaming up with Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, which he part owns with Jennifer Davisson Killoran. Also backing the project is Michael Connolly of Mad Hatter Entertainment, with Hemlock Grove writers Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy on script duties. It’s a good time to be a Netflix Original Series. I have yet to hear of one of Netflix’s new shows not getting a second season and now Hemlock Grove is the latest to reach the age of two. Somewhere out there Eli Roth is jumping up and down, squeals of glee bouncing off the walls of his horror memorabilia-filled mansion. The horror lover is an executive producer of the series, along with Brian McGreevy, Lee Shipman, Eric Newman and Michael Connolly, and is excited about the future of Hemlock Grove, saying “Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two.”
According to Deadline, Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, which is a curious number. The first season consisted of 13 episodes, so why the decrease going into the second? It’s no secret Hemlock Grove didn’t exactly wow critics. But this...

If you enjoyed the first season of Hemlock Grove, there’s a good chance that a second season will go into development. Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, recently spoke to THR about the possibility of a second season: “We’re hearing the pitches for the second season with plotlines and storylines now.”
Regarding the mixed reaction that the series received from horror fans, Sarandos talked about who the show appealed to: ”Hemlock is much more polarizing; you either love it or hate it. The crossover for the people who love the show was American Horror Story, not The Vampire Diaries. It was incredibly popular in the Nordics because of the popularity of the Skarsgards [Bill Skarsgard stars] and in Latin America, where the horror genre is very big… The other thing I look at is the tween segment. Hemlock Grove is horror, but it’s not really CW horror; it’s much more adult than that.

Netflix has announced that Famke Janson (X-Men) and Bill Skarsgard have been cast in the lead roles of Eli Roth's upcoming horror series Hemlock Grove.
The Netflix series is based on Brian McGreevy’s upcoming gothic horror novel of the same name, which will be released on March 27th. The story is set against the “backdrop of our darkest myths, adolescent deceptions, ravenous relationships and rumors of a werewolf, the series re-imagines everything it means to be a monster as reflected in the struggle to be human.”
Here's a synopsis:
Hemlock Grove starts with the body of a young girl, mangled and murdered in the shadow of the former Godfrey steel mill. Some suspect an escapee from the White Tower, a biotech facility owned by the former steel magnates. Others believe the killer could be Peter, a 17-year-old Gypsy kid from the wrong side of the tracks, who tells his classmates he's a werewolf.
