- Grant was born in Corpus Christi Texas the original home of naval aviation. His father was a instructor pilot there when Grant was born. As a youth and young adult Grant grew up in and around naval aviation. Grant's father served in the US Navy until Grant was in college, a period of 25 years. Capt. Conroy flew "Black Cat" PBY combat tours in World War 11, as the executive officer of VP-44 the famous squadron of the battle of Midway, and was commanding officer of VP-81 "Rankin's Raiders". In the Korean War Grant's father commanded operations on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard for two combat tours. As noted Grant has had a unique background with many of his formative years being in the world of Naval Aviation and one might say was somewhat a "Hostage to Fortune" with regard to his involvement in the production of the documentary "Razor Sharp" featuring the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels. Grant obtained his SAG card while attending USC and has been involved in many areas of the entertainment business for over twenty years. He currently lives in Pebble Beach, California and Honolulu Hawaii. Grant is very sports-oriented, having played intercollegiate football,rugby (AAU Championship), equestrian (owns an Andalusian gelding/ridden in the Pasadena Rose Parade 2001), sailor and boat owner, runner (10ks one marathon) and of course skiing and golf. Grant is an avid history buff as well, especially "the American West". His mother's family has deep roots in the ranching community in Idaho and California (Sawyer & MaGee/ Ghiradelli).
