The Avatar creator James Cameron has opened up about the many trips to Pandora that are on our horizon.
James Cameron has spoken to People magazine where amongst other things, he confirmed that the third Avatar film is still on track for a December 2025 release.
Cameron and his team were able to get most of the shooting for Avatar 3 (and some of the fourth film) done in the space between the pandemic and this year’s strikes. As such, the filmmaker reckons that so far work on the third instalment has been much smoother than with its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water.
“Three is actually much more straightforward than two,” says Cameron.
“Two, we got hit with the pandemic in the middle of it and we were interrupted, and then we had to reboot and reboot the production and all that sort of thing. And it was a scramble to get it done.

More investors are counting on the ability to count advertising dollars.
Thompson Street Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and Endicott Capital, an investment entity focused on information services, have made a strategic investment in MediaRadar, a tracker of advertising outlays. It is the latest transaction to have financial players gravitate to the discipline of measuring ad spending. Thompson will take a controlling stake in the business, though financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In an interview, Todd Krizelman, MediaRadar’s founder and CEO, indicated the investments would be utilized to create more products around such areas as retail media and social media, but also to help gain scale in the marketplace. As more media entities start to offer their own methodologies for being measured, Krizelman said, the marketplace is likely to seek a single third-party entity to examine spending. “That’s a missing puzzle piece, for sure,...

In 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a 727 airplane, stole $200,000, and parachuted out of the sky. Where he landed, no one knows: he was never seen or heard from again. On Nov. 24, 1971, night before Thanksgiving, a man identified as Dan Cooper hijacked a Northwest Orient Boeing 727 flight bound for Seattle. He told the pilots to circle around a few times before he parachuted out with $200,000, never to be heard from again. A team of 40 FBI agents, criminologists, journalists, and attorneys worked the case for decades. In 1972, 15 copycat hijackings were pulled. The last D.B. Cooper wannabe hijacked a plane on July 11, 1980. He demanded $600,000, two parachutes, and the assassination of his boss. A stewardess gave him a valium and he settled for three cheeseburgers. In 1981, Treat Williams played the elusive criminal in The Pursuit of D. B. Cooper. The FBI officially closed the case in 2016, citing a lack of strong leads.
But filmmaker John Dower will launch an investigation into the only unsolved airplane hijacking in U.S. history almost 50 years after the disappearing act. The Mystery of D.B. Cooper...

This Stranger Things article contains spoilers.
With Stranger Things 3 hitting screens this July, the third season of Netflix’s ratings juggernaut is ramping up for release with a spate of multimedia tie-ins. Comic books, a new video game, and the show’s first tie-in novel are all set to augment the wider universe beyond the 1980s setting of Hawkins, Indiana. Suspicious Minds, the tie-in novel by Gwenda Bond takes place in 1969, over a decade before the weird happenings in Hawkins, serving as a prequel for several of the show’s characters while also delving into the details of one of the more interesting corners of the Stranger Things universe, namely the dark government experimentation that led to Eleven, Kali, and others developing those strange and awesome powers.

Inspirations, special effects, a nod to Jaws and what could have been a near fatal accident, we go behind the scenes on Stranger Things...
This story originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.
If like me, you’re a Stranger Things aficionado, you’re probably kicking your heels and mourning not making the annual round trip to Hawkins, Indiana this autumn, as the show takes a year off before season three releases. Upsetting, I know. While you could "do a Joyce" and spend that time howling in anguish at the walls, cursing the fickle and cruel gods of television, ultimately, that’s an inadvisable approach, as you’ll probably just get a sore throat and blame it on us.
Fear not though, because a crumb of comfort is on the way. The official Stranger Things behind-the-scenes companion has just released, courtesy of Penguin Random House, and it...

This feature contains major spoilers for both The Dark Tower movie and novels.
There’s an old adage in the film industry that you’ve probably come across if you’ve listened to enough podcasts or watched a few interviews with those in the business, a familiar nugget of received wisdom that most filmmakers will elicit, perhaps with a contemplative shrug, or maybe whilst wearing a pained grimace of world-wearied experience: nobody sets out to make a muddled movie. In the case of the eagerly-awaited Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower, there’s no arguing that like virtually all movie projects in existence (and perhaps even more than most), the genesis of this film was undoubtedly rooted in love.

Psycho’s shower scene is one of the most iconic scenes ever filmed. But does just one 45 second scene warrant an entire documentary?
Seventy-eight. Fifty-two. Just numbers, sure, but also the precise alchemical formula for creating the most iconic scene in cinematic history. In around 45 seconds, the legendary auteur Alfred Hitchcock used seventy-eight setups and fifty-two cuts to craft Psycho’s shower scene, an unforgettable sequence that transcended the confines of the screen into immortality. Not only are film students destined to pore over it for generations to come, trying to unlock its many secrets, but it has also shaped key areas of our shared cultural consciousness. How? As well as restyling the depiction of violence on screen for future filmmakers to come, the shower scene reimagined the representation of violence onscreen towards women, with Karyn Kusama, director of several thrillers herself, calling it the "first modern expression of the...

Considering their affinity for the punk rhythms of The Clash, the creative team behind Stranger Things would have been very aware of the trickiness of that ‘difficult second album’ following a smash-hit first season on Netflix that earned the show rapturous critical and commercial praise. After all, Difficult Second Album Syndrome is a real thing, (it has to be, I’ve already started capitalising it now… at this rate it’ll be an acronym before long) and there are many bands out there, The Clash included, who found it impossible to deliver on the promise of their breakthrough success second time around.

It’s been over a year since the first season of Stranger Things burst onto the scene, an enthralling mashup of eighties pop culture iconography that garnered huge critical and commercial acclaim. The scale of the Duffer Brothers’ achievements in creating such a lovingly-crafted homage to a bygone era shouldn’t go unrecognised; here at Den of Geek, unable to wait until the end of this week for a return to this monumental ode to the eighties, we’ve tried to replicate their success through scientific means, but thus far, our tactic of placing a DVD of E.T. atop a tattered old copy of The Shining in the hope that they’ll mate hasn’t yet worked. Not even with Barry White blaring in the background.

It's been a big year for British films, it seems. But just how British are they?
How indeed is the British film industry? Fire off this particular question into the vastness of cyberspace and you’d be forgiven for thinking that things have never been rosier. A great sprawl of articles tumble forth, spewing forth hugely impressive numbers, whilst also celebrating the talent of our actors and our crews. Unsurprisingly, the runaway success of franchises such as Bond, Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings also dominate most search-engine results.
In a nutshell then, the British film industry is in a state of rude health and we should all congratulate ourselves by heading down to our local cinema to watch a British film, you know, to bask in that lovely glow of pride that naturally occurs when the place that you’re from becomes relatively good at something important.

The collective answer to those three questions are of course yes. And no. It will come as no great surprise to you that the second rule is somewhat similar in fashion and wording to the first.

As the London Classic Car Show gets set to kick off later this month, we count down our choice of the finest Batmobiles...
Robin: “I want a car. Chicks dig the car.”
Batman: “This is why Superman works alone.”
Man, how we marvelled at the Dark Knight as he responded to Robin’s whinging about wanting wheels of his own in 1997’s Batman & Robin. Yes it was the opening scene of the movie and true, we’d already experienced a higher latex-clad buttocks to screen time ratio than in your average imported specialist German exotica but still, that line… it hinted at the beginnings of a shared universe where Batman and Superman might one day occupy the same screen, sending us into geeky raptures of possibility-flavoured wonderment.
Looking back at the garish daftness that followed, that first minute of the film was probably the best bit.

That paradoxical blend of fair and foul will be familiar to anybody that follows football these days. International minnows Wales have been running roughshod over half of Europe, and Leicester’s unstoppable charge to the Premiership title against all five thousand...

Why digital de-ageing is Hollywood's current Holy Grail - and how Captain America: Civil War has helped...
This article contains spoilers for Captain America: Civil War and one widely-reported spoiler for Indy V.
We all know by now that Tony Stark is no stranger to psychoanalysis; in fact, the entirety of Iron Man 3’s plot was revealed by the post-credit sting to have been told to a snoozing Dr Banner to help Stark ‘cut the weight of it in half’ (and perhaps to give the audience a compelling reason for sitting through closing titles crediting three hundred and eighty seven visual effects companies). Captain America: Civil War, however, found the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist resorting to mind-boggling methods to get a little therapy, through B.A.R.F., brainwave-reading Vr tech that allowed him to revisit his youth and experience the final farewell with his deceased...

Each year we throw an animated movie into the mix of our Best Shot season. It's a handy reminder that Best Shot is about more than just camera work and lighting actors and sets but how filmmaking teams choose to tell the stories they're telling. But even if we think of it only as a celebration of cinematography, animated films have been upping their game there, too, famously hiring high profile cinematographers as consultants as CG animation really took over the world in the last 20 years.
Since we're counting on Zootopia, one of the year's most beloved films, to be one of the nominees (though it's too early to say "frontrunner") for Best Animated Feature we give it pride of place here today now that it's out on BluRay and DVD. My own choice will come tomorrow due to a last minute screening. But please do enjoy these Best Shot...

What 80s pop culture references and nods did you spot in Netflix's Stranger Things? We start the ball rolling...
Warning: contains spoilers for Stranger Things.
The term ‘love letter’ gets thrown around a lot these days: citing a few signature texts as being influential in the creation of your movie or TV show is now directorial de rigeur. Not only is it a method proven to pull in fans of those classics seeking to slake their ravenous nostalgic urges, it’s also a great way to borrow a dash of glamour, to stand on the shoulders of giants as it were.
That said, Netflix’s new show, Stranger Things is not one of those love letters. This is no scribbled declaration of romance, hastily scrawled on a Post-It note and hurled at the back of your head. This is a Shakespearean sonnet of a love letter – an artfully constructed declaration of adoration,...

For 45 years, the identity of the mysterious "skyjacker" known as D.B. Cooper - who threatened to blow up a commercial jet before leaping into the night with a parachute and the $200,000 he extorted as ransom by authorities - has remained a mystery. After last night's two-part History Channel special, D.B. Cooper: Case Closed?, which chronicled efforts to track down the suspect, it appears that the nation's only unsolved air piracy may stay that way. The program detailed the work of 40 investigators, including a dozen retired FBI agents, who spent five years probing the case of the now mythic suspect,...

We look back - with spoilers - at the incredible ending to the film of Stephen King's The Mist...
Unsurprisingly, this article contains spoilers for 2007’s The Mist. This is a deliberately big spoiler warning, for a film you really don't want spoiled. Really.
Stephen King is a man of many collaborations. We suspect you don't need us to tell you that, as they span many mediums and have borne more sweet-tasting, fleshy morsels than the Man from Del Monte would know what to do with.
Without even mentioning his many silver screen collaborative efforts, there’s American Vampire, the excellent comic book series he has co-written with the wildly-talented Scott Snyder; Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County, a musical created in cahoots with T Bone Burnett (creator of that theme tune for True Detective amongst many, many other things). If we’re talking straight up words on...

From Dumb & Dumber and The Martian, through to Arachnophobia and Steve Jobs - we salute the screen work of Jeff Daniels...
They say that when you play the Game of Thrones, “you win or you die”. The Game of Jeff Daniels, however, is an undeniably different beast and for the most part is a definite “you win or you win”. After viewing dozens of Jeff Daniels movies and spending many, many hours with his on-screen personas, it’s fair to say that the maxim has been sorely tested but guess what? It still holds true. This list has been carefully curated to celebrate the veteran actor’s talent, versatility and wit and no matter which (if any) of these movies you decide to revisit or check out for the first time, Jeff is guaranteed to give you something to love in each and every one.
25. Dumb And Dumber To (2014)

Coming to AMC this Sunday and to Amazon Prime Video this Monday, we anticipate Preacher's conversion from comic to TV show...
To borrow a phrase from Zoolander, Garth Ennis is so hot right now. Much like Mark Millar a couple of years ago, creative types and studio bods seem to be champing at the bit to develop the Northern Irish writer’s work: the recent Netflix take on Marvel’s Punisher character was clearly drawn from his seminal Max run and proved so popular that a solo series now seems to be in the works. Ennis’ sex’n’violence subversive superhero deconstruction, The Boys is also on the way to TV but most notably, Preacher, the iconic title that made Ennis’ name and helped to shape the landscape of 90s comic books premieres this very Sunday on AMC. (It was also announced on Wednesday that it...

With the Star Wars Blu-ray now out, what do the deleted scenes tell us about Jj Abrams’ original vision for the movie?
Back in 1999, at the tender age of 21, some friends and I hopped on a plane and flew to Dallas, Texas to watch Star Wars Episode I. Global release dates weren’t as well co-ordinated as they are these days and faced with six weeks of waiting here in the UK whilst everyone stateside got to fill their boots, we made what seemed like the only real decision available to us at the time. Looking back, it was perhaps one of history’s grander acts of spoiler-avoidance, but the moment that will stay with me forever wasn’t the film itself - instead, it was the strange moments straight after.
My travelling companions and I stood around in the bright Texan sunshine, bloodless smiles plastered on our faces,...

Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs accidentally referred to Richard Pope as "Dick Poop" during this year's Oscar nominations.
The cinematographer - known as Dick Pope - received a nomination for his work on period drama Mr Turner earlier today (January 15).
Oscars 2015: Academy Awards nominations list in full
Boone Isaacs quickly corrected herself after the mistake, but struggled to remain composed as she continued announcing this year's nominations.
Pope has previously been nominated for an Academy Award in 2007 for his work on The Illusionist.
Boone Isaacs's mistake didn't go unnoticed as film fans across the world tuned in to watch the announcement online, and #DickPoop almost instantly became a trending topic on Twitter.
Check out a selection of reactions to the gaffe below:
And for Richard Pope, today is the day he inevitably relives the worst four years of his high-school life. #DickPoop

D.B. Cooper leapt into history one Thanksgiving weekend in 1971. Here's a look at the mysterious skyjacker's pop culture impact.
“You hijack the flight and disappear into the night. Captain’s voice sounds tight: “be calm and it’ll be all right.” The passengers all eyes, a growing fear inside them. Vapor trails and light, all we see tonight but it’s all right.”– Everything is Fine, “Vapor Trails and Light”
On November 24, 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines flight 305 from Portland to Seattle (a trip known as a “milk run” due to the short distance involved). A few minutes into the voyage, he got the attention of a flight attendant and made it known that he had a bomb that he intended to use unless his demands were met. What did he want? $200,000 in unmarked bills and four parachutes.

Stephanie Waring is grateful for her bipolar disorder storyline in 'Hollyoaks'. The 35-year-old actress' character Cindy Cunningham will discover she is suffering from manic depression, a condition that provokes extreme mood swings, on the Channel 4 soap this month and she is proud to have been assigned such an important plot. Stephanie has been throwing herself into the role and is determined to do it justice, especially in the wake of discovering Kym Marsh has secretly been dating Dan Cooper, the father of her three-year-old daughter Lexi Grace. She told The Sun newspaper: ''I'm so grateful 'Hollyoaks' chose me for this storyline,...

Will Gluck, director of the wildly popular comedy Easy A, is in talks to direct Skyjack.
Skyjack is the real life story of a man using the alias of Dan Cooper, popularly known as D.B. Cooper, who hijacked a Boeing 727 back in 1971. Cooper extorted $200,000 in ransom money before parachuting off the airplane somewhere over the Pacific Northwest, never to be heard from again – even though the FBI keeps it as an open case.
Gluck is reportedly going to be pulling double duty as both director and producer. The script is an adaption of the novel Skyjack: The Hunt For D.B. Cooper written by Geoffrey Gray, which reads like a pick your own ending tale with three possible suspects.
If production for Skyjack starts moving along, hopefully Gluck will be able to bank on his recent hits, Easy A and Friends With Benefits, to navigate the film into a Hollywood success story.
